The Payout in One Paragraph
This page covers only the money: when it moves, how much, and how it arrives. For the case itself and who can claim, see our main Dr Squatch settlement page.
As of October 2026, the official site says plainly that “No money or benefits are available now” because the court has not decided whether to approve the settlement. Under the settlement agreement, payments go out only after final approval, after the time to appeal runs out, and after Dr. Squatch funds the account. On the agreement’s own timeline, payments cannot start until after the hearing, the appeal period, funding within 21 days of the Effective Date and then up to 60 days for the administrator — so mid-2027 is the earliest realistic window, and only if the court approves and nobody appeals.
Case details
The settlement resolves Guzman et al. v. Dr. Squatch, LLC, Case No. 25STCV03523, in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. It is a state-court case, not a federal one. The consolidated complaint was filed there on February 10, 2025, after separate suits dating back to 2022.
The final approval hearing is set for March 2, 2027, at 10:00 a.m. PT in Department 11, 312 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles. The official site warns that the hearing date may change. The court appointed Eisner Amper LLP as settlement administrator; the official site is PersonalCareProductsSettlement.com.
Status: Settled, Claims Open, Not Paying
• The opt-out and objection deadline was October 13, 2026. It has passed.
• The claim deadline is November 27, 2026 (online, or by U.S. mail).
• On September 29, 2026, class counsel filed their motion for fees, costs and service awards. The court decides it at the March 2, 2027 hearing.
• No payment date has been announced. The official FAQ adds: “There is no guarantee that money or benefits will ever be distributed.”
Don't miss the claim deadline
Claims are due by November 27, 2026. We'll email you 7 days and 1 day before the deadline.
What Has to Happen Before Anyone Is Paid
The settlement agreement sets the order of steps. It does not set a calendar date:
1. Claims are checked. The administrator determines which claims are valid “within thirty (30) days of the end of the Claim Period.”
2. Final approval. The court has to approve the deal and enter judgment. The hearing is March 2, 2027.
3. The Effective Date. The time to appeal has to expire, or any appeal has to end with the approval affirmed. An objector’s appeal can add months or more.
4. Funding. Dr. Squatch deposits the rest of the money within 21 days after the Effective Date.
5. Payment. The administrator must send payments within 60 days after that funding date.
So the agreement allows up to 81 days between the Effective Date and the last day for payments. If the settlement is approved in March 2027 and nobody appeals, payments could follow in mid-2027. That is our reading of the agreement, not an announced date.
How Much Each Person Gets
Those are starting figures, not guarantees. Payments are reduced pro rata if valid claims add up to more than the money left in the fund. They are increased pro rata if claims add up to less.
What “left in the fund” means: the fund is $9,000,000. Class counsel are asking for $3,000,000 in fees, $42,219.68 in costs and $40,000 in service awards. Administration is estimated at $475,000. If the court grants every request and costs match the estimate, about $5.4 million is left for claimants. The court can award less. The number of claims filed so far has not been published.

Three Things to Watch For
A widely shared settlement with a small payout and a long wait invites these tricks:
“Your Dr Squatch payment is ready” messages
As of October 2026, no payment is ready for anyone. The court has not approved the settlement. A text or post saying payments are going out now, especially one with a link, is wrong or a scam.
Fees to “release” your $12.50
Payments come out of the settlement fund. The administrator does not charge claimants anything. Nobody needs your card number, your bank login or a processing fee to send a payment of a few dollars.

Dr Squatch Payout — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
When will the Dr Squatch settlement pay out?
There is no date. Nothing can be paid before the final approval hearing on March 2, 2027. After approval, the time to appeal must expire, Dr. Squatch has 21 days to fund the settlement, and the administrator then has 60 days to pay. Without appeals, that points to mid-2027 at the earliest. That is our estimate, not an announcement.
How much is the Dr Squatch lawsuit payout per person?
The base rate is $0.50 per product: up to 5 products without proof and up to 20 more with proof, for a maximum of $12.50 per household. The final amount goes up or down pro rata depending on how many valid claims are filed.
Is the Dr Squatch settlement real?
Yes. It is Guzman et al. v. Dr. Squatch, LLC, Case No. 25STCV03523, in Los Angeles Superior Court. The court appointed Eisner Amper LLP as administrator. The official site is PersonalCareProductsSettlement.com, the mailing address is Dr. Squatch Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 1389, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, and the phone number is 1-855-706-1956. Dr. Squatch denies wrongdoing and settled without admitting liability.
Is Dr. Squatch in a lawsuit?
Yes, this one, and it is settled. As of October 2026 it is waiting for final approval. The case history and claim rules are on our main Dr Squatch settlement page.
Did Dr. Squatch get bought?
In 2025, Unilever announced it was buying Dr Squatch from private equity firm Summit Partners. The Financial Times reported the price as $1.5 billion. The defendant that agreed to fund this settlement is Dr. Squatch, LLC. Nothing on the official site suggests the sale changes how claims are paid.
How will I receive the money?
By check or digital payment. The agreement names PayPal, Zelle and e-Mastercard. Checks are valid for 180 days. e-Mastercard payments do not expire. You choose a method on the claim form and can change it through the official site’s update page.
What happens to checks nobody cashes?
Uncashed checks and unclaimed digital payments go into a second distribution, split pro rata among people who did cash or accept their payment, if that is administratively feasible. If it is not, each person’s unclaimed money goes to their state’s unclaimed property office.
I have not filed yet. Is it too late?
Not until the deadline. Claims must be filed online or by U.S. mail no later than November 27, 2026. If you do not file a valid claim, you get nothing. Our open settlements list shows other settlements that are taking claims or paying out.
