Two Equifax FCRA Settlements — Which Payout You Mean
People searching for an “Equifax FCRA settlement payout” usually mean one of two separate cases. They pay on separate schedules.
The $100 million credit-score case. This is the large one. Your notice will say Equifax reported information about you between March 17 and April 8, 2022, that was affected by a coding issue. The case history and claim rules are on our main settlement page; this page covers only the payment.
The $2.2 million duplicate-account case (Bradberry). This is the “up to $600” settlement. It covers only the 37,651 people Equifax sent a duplicate-reporting letter in August and September 2022. Its claim deadline passed on September 1, 2026.
Case details
Both cases are in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, before different judges.
In re Equifax Fair Credit Reporting Act Litigation, No. 1:22-cv-3072-LMM-CCB, is before Judge Leigh Martin May. The parties filed a joint notice of settlement on June 30, 2026, and an unopposed motion for preliminary approval on August 12, 2026. The court has preliminarily approved the settlement and approved the notice.
Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services LLC, No. 1:22-cv-04754-MLB, is before Judge Michael L. Brown. It was preliminarily approved on May 4, 2026, and the final approval hearing was reset to October 6, 2026.
Status: Approved Preliminarily, No Payment Date
The notice says the settlement must be approved and become “final and effective” before anyone is paid, and it sets no payment date. So the honest answer is: no Equifax FCRA settlement payout in 2026, and no announced date in 2027.
Bradberry ($600 case): hearing was scheduled for October 6, 2026, outcome not confirmed. The final approval hearing was set for October 6, 2026. As of October 19, 2026, we could not confirm a final approval order, and the official site still listed the hearing date. The site says benefits are distributed only if the court approves “and any appeals are resolved.”
Who Actually Gets a Check
$100 million case: only class members who submit a timely, valid Claim Form by December 28, 2026, get money. Doing nothing keeps you in the class, but it does not pay you. If you received an email or mailed notice, Equifax’s records place you in the class. Questions go to the official site, EquifaxFairCreditReportingSettlement.com, or 1-888-808-1542.
Bradberry: cash goes only to people from the 37,651-person letter class who filed a claim by September 1, 2026. Everyone in that class, including people who did not claim, is set to get six months of Equifax Complete credit monitoring. The claim login used a Notice ID beginning with EQB plus a PIN.
How Much Each Person Gets
Bradberry: up to $600. The $2,200,000 fund also pays administration, fees of $733,333.33 and up to $75,000 in costs. Payments come by paper check unless you chose an electronic method on the settlement website. Under the settlement agreement, checks are void if not cashed within 60 calendar days. Leftover money goes to a second distribution if each payment would be at least $10.00. If not, it goes to the National Consumer Law Center.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 112,484 federal civil cases of this typeclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 10.6% of them filed as class actions:
- 46.9% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 27.2% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 46.9% and 74.1%.
- 3.8% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 760 reached a trial (0.1%), after a median of 21.2 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 4.8 months.
- Only 1,167 of them (1%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $10,000.

Three Things to Watch For
Two Equifax settlements with different amounts and dates create easy openings for imposters:
“Your $600 Equifax payment is ready”
Only 37,651 people can get the up-to-$600 Bradberry payment, and their claim window closed September 1, 2026. A message offering $600 to anyone, or asking you to file now, is not from that settlement.
Fees to “release” or speed up your payout
Fees and costs come out of the settlement fund itself. No administrator charges you to receive a payment, and nobody can move your check ahead of the court’s approval. Anyone selling an earlier payout is selling something that does not exist.
Lookalike claim sites
The real sites are EquifaxFairCreditReportingSettlement.com and DuplicateAccountFCRASettlement.com. The 2017 data-breach settlement site is a third, unrelated one. If a link reaches you by text or social media, type the address yourself rather than tapping it.
Equifax FCRA Payout — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
When will the Equifax FCRA settlement payout happen?
No date has been set. The $100 million settlement pays only after final approval, and the fairness hearing is on January 22, 2027. The notice gives no payment date. Check EquifaxFairCreditReportingSettlement.com for the date once it is announced.
How much will I get from the Equifax fair credit reporting settlement?
The notice estimates approximately $95 to $280 per valid claim, and says the actual amount may be higher or lower. Every valid claimant gets an equal share of the fund after fees, expenses and administration costs.
Has anyone received money from the Equifax FCRA settlement yet?
Not from the $100 million settlement. As of October 19, 2026, it is not finally approved, and the notice says payments can be made only after final approval. For Bradberry, we found no confirmation of a final approval order or any payment.
Is the $600 Equifax payment the same settlement?
No. The up-to-$600 payment is the separate $2.2 million Bradberry settlement (No. 1:22-cv-04754-MLB). It covers 37,651 people who received a duplicate-reporting letter in 2022, and its claim deadline was September 1, 2026.
Is there a class action lawsuit against Equifax in 2026?
Yes. Besides the two FCRA settlements above, Equifax’s quarterly SEC filing for the period ended June 30, 2026, reports four related class actions over inquiry disputes on credit files. It says an agreement in principle was reached in January 2026 and that Equifax accrued $30.0 million for them.
What is the amount of the Equifax data breach settlement?
That question is about the 2017 data breach, which is a different case from these FCRA settlements, and this page does not cover it. See our Equifax data breach settlement page.
Will the payment come by check or electronically?
For Bradberry, the notice says payments go by mail to the address on file unless you set up an electronic method on the website. For the $100 million settlement, the notice does not say how payments will be sent. Keep your mailing and email address current with the administrator.
Do I need to do anything to get paid?
For the $100 million settlement, yes: submit a Claim Form by December 28, 2026. Doing nothing means you get no money and are still bound by the settlement. For Bradberry, claims closed on September 1, 2026. Don’t pay anyone a fee to file for you.
