Lands' End Data Breach Settlement 2026: Employees and Dependents — Not Customers

Lands' End settled a class action over its December 2024 data breach. Important: the roughly 10,060 class members are current and former EMPLOYEES and their dependents — not retail customers. If that's you, claims of up to $5,000 (documented) or a $60 flat payment are open until October 22, 2026.

What the Lawsuit Alleges

On or around December 6, 2024, cybercriminals accessed Lands' End's systems and files containing personal information of current and former employees and their dependents — roughly 10,060 people. Exposed data included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or passport numbers, and in some cases medical information. The lawsuit (Jones, et al. v. Lands' End, Inc.) alleged the retailer failed to reasonably secure workforce data. Lands' End denies wrongdoing but settled; per-person payouts are capped rather than drawn from a disclosed common fund.

Case Details

Circuit Court for Iowa County, Wisconsin — Case No. 30301 (Dodgeville, WI). Official administrator site: landsenddatasettlement.com.

Current Status

Preliminary approval was granted May 13, 2026. The opt-out/objection deadline is October 7, 2026; the claim deadline is October 22, 2026; and the final approval hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2026. Class members receive mailed notices with a login ID and PIN. No payments before final approval.

Who Is Affected & Can You Join?

U.S. residents whose private information was compromised in the December 2024 Lands' End incident — in practice, current and former Lands' End employees and their covered dependents identified in the breach files. Retail customers who merely shopped at Lands' End are NOT in this class; no customer payment data was part of this settlement.

Is There a Payout?

Two options: (1) up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses incurred between December 6, 2024 and October 22, 2026 (receipts or statements required); or (2) a flat $60 cash payment with no documentation. Everyone in the class also gets two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete credit monitoring with $1M fraud insurance, activated by a postcard enrollment code. With a class of only ~10,060 people, the flat $60 is more stable than in mega-breach settlements where pro-rata dilution bites.

Scam & Misinformation Warnings

Whenever a brand lawsuit goes viral, scam sites and bad actors follow. Watch for these red flags:

Customer-targeted 'Lands' End refund' messages

This settlement does not cover shoppers. Emails telling customers to claim a Lands' End breach payout are phishing — the class is employees and dependents identified by mailed notice.

Login-credential phishing

Real class members file with the login ID and PIN from their mailed notice at landsenddatasettlement.com. No legitimate contact will ask for your bank password or a fee.

Paid filing 'help'

The claim form is short and free. Services charging to file a $60 claim are keeping a third of it for nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

I shop at Lands' End — am I in this settlement?

No. The December 2024 breach involved files about employees and their dependents (~10,060 people), not customer payment data. If you only shopped there, this settlement doesn't apply to you — and any message telling you otherwise is a scam.

How much can class members claim?

Up to $5,000 for documented losses caused by the breach (through October 22, 2026), or a flat $60 with no documentation. Everyone also receives two years of credit monitoring with $1M fraud insurance.

When is the deadline?

Claims are due October 22, 2026. The opt-out/objection deadline is October 7, 2026, and the final approval hearing is November 6, 2026.

What data was exposed?

Names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or passport numbers, and in limited cases medical information of employees and dependents.

When do payments arrive?

After the November 6, 2026 final approval hearing and any appeals — realistically early 2027.

I worked at Lands' End years ago. Could I be included?

Yes — the exposed files included FORMER employees and their dependents. If your data was in the breached files, the administrator should have mailed you a notice; contact them via landsenddatasettlement.com if you believe you qualify but received nothing.
