What you get at no cost

- 28.5M+ settlement records analyzed across 17 federal and state data sources (Treasury Judgment Fund, NPDB, BLS, OSHA, state databases).
- Original research studies with DOIs published on Zenodo — citable, peer-reviewable, free to download as CSV.
- State-specific guides covering statute of limitations, damage caps, and no-fault rules for all 50 states.
- 30+ in-depth articles — claim process, demand letter templates, negotiation tactics, insurance bad faith, lawyer cost (contingency fees).
How Settlement Insight is funded
We do not charge consumers, sell ads to insurance companies, or hide a paid tier behind a 'free' label. The platform is sustained by an optional lead-generation step: at the end of any calculator, you can request a free case review by a licensed attorney in your state. If you choose to submit your contact information, we forward your inquiry to a partner law firm and they pay us a referral fee.
You are never required to submit your information. The calculator gives you your estimate before any form, and you can leave the page without sharing anything. About 95% of our visitors do exactly that — and the site stays free for them too.
When you do opt in, your information goes only to the partner firm we matched you with. We do not sell your data to advertisers, marketers, or third-party data brokers.
No catch — explicitly
- No registration — calculators work without an account.
- No credit card — we have no payment processing because there is nothing to pay for.
- No 'pro' tier — every feature on the site is available to everyone.
- No usage limits — use the calculators as often as you want.
