DoorDash Driver Compensation Claims: What Is Closed, What Is Still Paying
Settled — Claims Period Closed
Claim deadline was March 18, 2026 · as of Oct 23, 2026
There is no single DoorDash driver lawsuit. Dasher pay has been fought over in separate government cases in California, New York, Illinois and Washington, D.C. As of October 2026, every claim window for those cases has closed — the last one, California, on March 18, 2026. The money in the news right now is New York City’s $131.5 million settlement, and that one needs no claim form.

What the Government Cases Alleged
Two different complaints sit behind most DoorDash driver compensation claims.
Tips. New York, Illinois and D.C. alleged that from 2017 to 2019 DoorDash used customer tips to cover the pay it had already guaranteed Dashers. The New York Attorney General’s own example: on a $10 guaranteed order, a $3 tip meant DoorDash paid $7 and the Dasher still received $10. DoorDash would always pay a minimum of $1. Meanwhile, the checkout screen told customers “Dashers will always receive 100 percent of the tip.” In Illinois, DoorDash denies the allegations and says all tips were paid to Dashers.
Classification. In June 2020 the San Francisco District Attorney sued, alleging DoorDash misclassified California Dashers as independent contractors instead of employees. DoorDash disputes that.
Case details
Each case was brought by a government office, and none of them is in federal court:
California: The People of the State of California v. DoorDash Inc., Case No. CGC-20-584789, Superior Court of California, San Francisco. DoorDash’s annual report says it was resolved in September 2025 for $2 million and no injunctive relief. Claims were handled through the official site, DoorDashRestitutionEligibleDrivers.com.
New York State: an Attorney General settlement (assurance of discontinuance) of $16.75 million, announced February 24, 2025. It is administered by Atticus Administration (AG settlement page).
Illinois: The People of the State of Illinois v. DoorDash, Inc., Case No. 2024 CH 10011, Circuit Court of Cook County. It was filed November 7, 2024 and resolved by a consent decree entered November 14, 2024 (official site).
Washington, D.C.: the Attorney General sued in November 2019 and settled on November 24, 2020 for $2.5 million.
Status: Every Claim Window Has Closed
California’s restitution claim deadline was March 18, 2026. New York State’s final deadline, after several extensions, was February 13, 2026. Illinois closed February 10, 2025, and its payments began March 4, 2025.
What is still moving: in New York State, payments to approved claimants are reported to go out on a bi-monthly basis. Separately, New York City’s $131.5 million DCWP settlement, announced September 22, 2026, pays affected Dashers without any claim form. It is a different case, explained on its own page and in our news report.
Who Was Covered by Each Case
California: this one was narrow. It covered only drivers who had opted out of two earlier class settlements and had not settled on their own. The Marko group (Case No. BC659841) made at least one California delivery between August 30, 2016 and December 31, 2020. The Marciano group (Case No. CGC-15-548101) delivered between June 17, 2016 and August 29, 2016. If you stayed in those class settlements, this case never included you.
New York State: Dashers who delivered in the state between May 2017 and September 2019 and had customer tips applied to DoorDash’s guaranteed pay. The AG put the number at about 63,000 workers.
Illinois: over 79,000 workers who delivered in Illinois between July 2017 and September 2019 under the Pay Guarantee Model.
D.C.: workers who delivered to District consumers while the tip model was in place.
What Dashers Were Paid
New York State: $16.75 million for Dashers, plus up to $1 million in administration costs. Shares were proportional, and a share calculated below $10 is not paid at all.
Illinois: $11.25 million. Every claimant got at least $2.00 plus a proportional share.
D.C.: $1.5 million of the $2.5 million went to workers.
California: the resolution totals $2 million, by DoorDash’s account. We found no published per-driver amount.
If you missed a deadline, there is no late-claim route on any of the official sites.

Three Things to Watch For
Closed claim windows plus fresh headlines about a separate NYC deal create the perfect cover for fakes:
“Late DoorDash claim” or recovery services
The New York, Illinois and California windows are closed, and none of the official sites offers a late filing. The NY Attorney General warns: you do not have to pay anyone to help you with your claim.
Spoofed “Atticus” calls and texts
Atticus handled New York and Illinois, so its name gets borrowed. The AG warns that scammers can fake caller ID and email. Call back only on the number from the official site: 1-800-270-1039 for New York, 1-888-844-7380 for Illinois.
“Enter your PIN” links
California claims used a Unique ID and PIN printed on a mailed notice, and New York used a unique claim ID. A link that asks you to generate one, or to pay a fee to release money, did not come from an administrator.
DoorDash Driver Compensation — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
Is there a class action lawsuit against DoorDash?
Not one that is open for claims by drivers. The cases that paid Dashers were government actions in California, New York, Illinois and D.C. DoorDash’s annual report says it still faces putative class actions, PAGA representative actions and individual arbitrations over Dasher classification. None of those has a settlement or claim form we could verify.
How can I apply for the DoorDash lawsuit in 2026?
As of October 2026, you cannot file a new DoorDash driver compensation claim in these cases. California closed March 18, 2026, and New York State closed February 13, 2026. If you drove in New York City, the separate $131.5 million city settlement contacts affected Dashers directly, with no claim form.
Is there a DoorDash driver compensation claim form?
There were three, and all have closed: California (Unique ID and PIN from your notice), New York State (claim ID from your notice) and Illinois. Any “claim form” circulating now that is not on an official administrator site is not one of them.
When is the Illinois DoorDash settlement payout date?
The official Illinois site says payments were initiated March 4, 2025, to Dashers who filed by February 10, 2025. Payment options included ACH, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, virtual Mastercard or check. Questions go to Atticus at 1-888-844-7380.
I filed a New York State claim. When do I get paid?
Newsweek reported, citing the Attorney General’s information sheet, that payments go to approved claimants on an ongoing, bi-monthly basis, and only where the calculated share is at least $10. We could not confirm the current payment status on the administrator’s site. Contact Atticus at 1-800-270-1039 or info@NYDoorDashSettlement.com.
Can I sue DoorDash as a driver?
DoorDash’s annual report says many Dasher claims go to individual arbitration under its independent contractor agreement. For classification and wage questions, a state labor agency or an employment attorney is the place to start. In Illinois, the AG runs a Workplace Rights Hotline at 1-844-740-5076. For a comparable case, see our Lyft driver misclassification page.
Will DoorDash pay for a car accident?
That is an insurance question, not part of these settlements, and this page does not cover it. Start with DoorDash’s Dasher support and your own auto insurer.
I can’t remember whether my tips were affected. How do I check?
Under the New York State settlement, Dashers can request their Dash History and some delivery details for four years. Your eligibility was set from DoorDash’s own records, which is why notices went out by mail, email or text instead of by open sign-up.
