DoorDash Lawsuit Michigan: There Is No Michigan Case — Here Is What the News Is About
Reference Guide
If you searched “DoorDash lawsuit Michigan” after seeing a headline, the headline is almost certainly New York City’s $131.5 million settlement for delivery workers, announced September 22, 2026. It pays people who delivered in New York City, not in Michigan. As of October 2026 we found no Michigan class action, no Michigan attorney general case and no claim form that covers Michigan Dashers or customers.

What the DoorDash Cases in the News Allege
Three government cases drive most DoorDash settlement coverage, and none was brought in Michigan.
New York City (2026): the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection found that DoorDash failed to pay thousands of workers at all, paid thousands more late, and left trip time and on-call time out of the city’s Minimum Pay Rate, now $22.13 per hour excluding tips.
New York State (tips): the attorney general found that between May 2017 and September 2019 DoorDash applied some customer tips to its own guaranteed pay, so some Dashers did not get their full tips.
Chicago: the city alleged DoorDash listed restaurants without consent, charged a misleadingly named “Chicago Fee” and used tips to subsidize driver pay. DoorDash settled each matter; settlement is not a finding of liability.
Case details
None of these cases is in a Michigan court. The New York City matter is a city enforcement action under the city’s Delivery Worker Laws (NYC announcement). The New York tip case was resolved by the state attorney general (NY AG settlement page). Chicago’s case was a city lawsuit; the city announced its settlement on November 14, 2025. A check of our federal docket database, which only holds filings received since early October 2026, showed DoorDash cases in New York and Texas and none in the Eastern or Western District of Michigan. That is a snapshot, not proof that no Michigan case will ever be filed.
Status: No Michigan Case, No Michigan Payout
Who Can Actually Get Money
NYC delivery workers: people underpaid by DoorDash in New York City from April 22, 2022 to June 28, 2026. No claim is needed; the city says it identified everyone owed from DoorDash’s records.
New York State Dashers (tips): people who delivered in New York state between May 2017 and September 2019. The final claim deadline was February 13, 2026; it has passed.
Chicago: restaurants, Chicago users with active accounts, and drivers delivering in Chicago as of September 2019.
Michigan: living, ordering or delivering in Michigan does not by itself qualify you for any of these.
How Much the DoorDash Settlements Pay
NYC ($131.5 million): more than $115 million goes to more than 260,000 workers. Unpaid or late pay is compensated at about 200% of the underpayment — the city’s example is $1,000 never paid becoming $3,000, and $1,000 paid late becoming $2,000. Use our DoorDash settlement check calculator to estimate a share.
New York State ($16.75 million): tip repayments; claims closed February 13, 2026.
Chicago ($18 million): $3.25 million to restaurants listed without consent, $5.8 million in restaurant credits, $4 million in order credits for Chicago users from January 28, 2026, and $500,000 for drivers.

Three Things to Watch For
Big DoorDash headlines with no Michigan case behind them leave room for imposters:
“Claim your Michigan DoorDash payout” pages
There is no Michigan settlement, so there is no Michigan claim portal. A site asking for your Dasher login, bank details or Social Security number to “release” a Michigan payment is collecting data.
Fake NYC settlement emails
The real NYC emails go only to the last address a worker used with DoorDash and state the amount owed. The New York attorney general warns that scammers can fake phone numbers, caller ID and email addresses. Check against nyc.gov/doordash instead of clicking a link.
Paid “claim help”
No DoorDash settlement requires a fee. The NYC payout needs no claim at all, and the New York attorney general says you do not have to pay anyone to help with a claim.
DoorDash Lawsuit Michigan — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
Is there a DoorDash lawsuit in Michigan?
Not one we could find as of October 2026. We searched news coverage, Michigan attorney general announcements and our federal docket database; the active DoorDash settlements are from New York City, New York State and Chicago.
How much will I get from the DoorDash settlement?
If you only delivered or ordered in Michigan, nothing from these settlements. NYC workers are paid about 200% of what they were underpaid, and each worker’s email states the exact amount.
How to claim DoorDash lawsuit money?
For NYC there is no claim: the administrator emails eligible workers in late October and they choose an electronic payment or a check; no choice means a check by mail. The New York State tip claims closed February 13, 2026. Chicago user credits were applied automatically.
Is the DoorDash lawsuit still going on?
The New York State and Chicago cases are settled. The NYC matter is settled, with payments starting this fall and a second round for a small group in early 2027. There is no Michigan case to follow.
I delivered in Michigan and in New York City. Am I covered?
Possibly, for the New York City work only. The NYC settlement covers underpayments for deliveries in New York City from April 22, 2022 to June 28, 2026. Watch the email address you last used with DoorDash.
Can Dashers tell if you don’t tip?
That is an app question, not something these lawsuits decide, and this page cannot answer it; DoorDash’s own help pages are the place to ask. What the cases did address is where tips went: Chicago says DoorDash stopped using tips to subsidize driver pay after September 2019.
I was hurt in a crash with a DoorDash driver in Michigan. Is that this lawsuit?
No. An injury from a crash is an individual claim, not part of any DoorDash settlement. Our Michigan car accident settlement calculator covers how those claims are valued.
Is the DoorDash settlement email real?
A genuine NYC email comes from the city’s settlement administrator, goes to the address you last used with DoorDash and states your amount; it does not ask you to file a claim. Verify at nyc.gov/doordash. For the New York State tip fund, the administrator was Atticus Administration, 1-800-270-1039.
