What the Lawsuit Says Happened
ConnectOnCall ran an after-hours on-call answering service with automated patient call tracking, used by healthcare providers across the U.S. Phreesia acquired it in October 2023. Per the settlement agreement, an unknown party gained access to the platform between February 16, 2024 and May 12, 2024 and took data, including provider-patient communications.
The company found out on or about May 12, 2024, but began notifying people only on or about December 11, 2024. It told HHS that 914,138 people were affected. Exposed fields may include names, phone numbers, dates of birth, medical record numbers, health, treatment and prescription information and, in some cases, Social Security numbers.
The lawsuit alleges ConnectOnCall and Phreesia failed to use reasonable security. The defendants have not admitted wrongdoing.

Who Can File a Claim
The class is all living people residing in the United States whose information may have been impacted in the ConnectOnCall breach.
You do not need a letter. If you got a notice, it has a unique ID and PIN that make the claim form faster. If you did not, you can still file. For either cash payment, you sign a statement under penalty of perjury that you communicated after hours with a healthcare provider or their office between May 12, 2014 and May 12, 2024.
What the ConnectOnCall Settlement Pays
Documented losses: up to $5,000, with proof such as receipts or bank statements showing losses traced to the breach.
Alternate cash: a pro rata share, capped at $75. No receipts needed. The final amount depends on how many people file, so it may be well under $75.
Every class member can also choose two years of dark web and medical data monitoring through CyEx Medical Shield Complete. Class counsel may ask for up to one-third of the fund in fees, and that comes off the top before payments. With 914,138 people notified, the fund cannot pay everyone the cap. A low claims rate is what keeps the flat payment near $75.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 118,291 other personal injury casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 3.9% of them filed as class actions:
- 39.6% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 14% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 39.6% and 53.6%.
- 5.7% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 109 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 23.9 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 9 months.
- Only 802 of them (0.7%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $537,500.

Three Things to Watch For
An open claim period, a deadline and a class of 914,138 patients make this settlement an easy story to fake:
Look-alike claim sites
The only claim site is ConnectOnCallSettlement.com, run by Epiq. A page with a similar name that asks for your full Social Security number or a bank login to file is not the settlement.
Fees to “release” your $75
Filing is free. No administrator charges a processing fee, and nobody can speed up a payment that cannot go out until after the November 17, 2026 hearing.
Calls quoting your doctor or a diagnosis
The stolen data included provider-patient messages, so a caller may sound informed. Hang up and go to the official site yourself. Do not give details to anyone who calls you first.
ConnectOnCall Settlement — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
What is ConnectOnCall?
An after-hours on-call answering service that healthcare providers used to take and track patient calls outside office hours. Phreesia acquired it in October 2023.
What is the ConnectOnCall settlement amount?
$4,950,000, non-reversionary. Fees, costs, service awards and administration come out of it first, and the cost of the optional monitoring is also paid from the fund. The rest pays claims of up to $5,000 for documented losses or a pro rata payment of up to $75.
What is the typical payout per person for a data breach settlement?
In this case, the flat payment is capped at $75 and shrinks if many people file. Documented losses can pay up to $5,000 with proof. For a rough estimate, try our data breach settlement calculator.
What is the deadline to file?
Claims must be submitted online or postmarked by November 2, 2026. The opt-out and objection deadline was set for October 19, 2026. Missing the claim deadline means no payment, but you are still bound by the settlement.
Do I need the notice letter to file?
No. The letter's unique ID and PIN make filing faster, but people without one can still file. You attest that you called a healthcare provider after hours between May 12, 2014 and May 12, 2024.
Is the Phreesia ConnectOnCall settlement a separate case?
No. Phreesia, Inc. is a co-defendant in the same consolidated case, No. 2:24-cv-08790. One settlement covers claims against both companies.
When will I get paid?
Only after the court grants final approval and any appeals are resolved. The final approval hearing is set for November 17, 2026. As of October 2026, no payment date has been set.
