Why You Got This Notice
“83476” is not a person or a company. It appears in the return address on the notice: Settlement Administrator – 83476, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC. Searches for settlement administrator 83476 and settlement administrator - 83476 are almost all people holding this notice.
The lawsuit alleges that Natera misrepresented the prices patients would pay for its Panorama noninvasive prenatal test and Horizon genetic carrier screening, under California’s Unfair Competition Law and Consumers Legal Remedies Act. Natera continues to deny that it misrepresented its billing practices and settled without admitting liability.
You were notified because Natera’s own records list you as someone who had one of these tests between July 10, 2019 and September 2, 2026 and was billed more than $249 (prenatal test without microdeletions) or $349 (prenatal test with microdeletions, or carrier screening). Natera handed those records to Kroll, which sent notice by email and, where needed, by postcard on or after October 2, 2026.
Case details
Calcaterra v. Natera, Inc., No. 4:23-cv-06342-YGR, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, before Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers. The case began as Copley v. Natera in San Mateo County Superior Court (No. 23-civ-3095) and was removed to federal court on December 8, 2023; on May 7, 2024 the court continued the federal case with Rachel Calcaterra as named plaintiff. The parties reached a settlement in principle on November 7, 2025. On September 2, 2026 the court granted preliminary approval (Dkt. 77) and appointed Kroll Settlement Administration LLC as administrator and Wolf Popper LLP and Berman Tabacco as class counsel. The official site is geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com.
Status: Preliminarily Approved, Claims Open
This is not the only Natera settlement. A separate $8,250,000 case, In re Natera Prenatal Testing Litigation (No. 4:22-cv-00985-JST), is about the alleged accuracy of the prenatal tests and has its own site, NateraNIPTSettlement.com — see our Natera class action page. This billing settlement does not release claims in that case.
Don't miss the claim deadline
Claims are due by May 3, 2027. We'll email you 7 days and 1 day before the deadline.
Who Is in the Class — and What Your ID Letter Means
You are a class member if Natera performed Panorama or Horizon testing on you between July 10, 2019 and September 2, 2026 and billed you more than the $249 or $349 threshold for that test. If you received the notice, Natera’s records list you as a potential member.
Look at the first letter of your Class Member ID. An ID starting with “A” (e.g. A12345678) means Natera’s records already show you paid out of pocket above the threshold. An ID starting with “B” (e.g. B12345678) means the records do not show that payment. Either way you must file a claim to be paid; our claim ID lookup guide explains where IDs appear on a notice in general.
How Much the Natera Settlement Pays
“A” claimants share 94.7% of the net fund, up to 100% of what they paid above $249 or $349, pro rata if claims exceed the money. “B” claimants share 5.3% of the net fund, capped at $50 each; anything left over goes to the “A” group. Payments under $10 are only paid if you choose electronic payment. Anyone in both Natera settlements cannot recover more in total than they paid out of pocket for the prenatal test. Use the payout calculator to see how claim rates move a pro rata share.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 118,291 other personal injury casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 3.9% of them filed as class actions:
- 39.6% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 14% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 39.6% and 53.6%.
- 5.7% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 109 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 23.9 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 9 months.
- Only 802 of them (0.7%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $537,500.

Three Things to Watch For
Natera billing letters carry real medical-debt context, which makes this notice easy to imitate:
Look-alike claim sites
The only claim site is geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com. Type it yourself rather than tapping a link in a forwarded message, and check the spelling. The online claim form asks for the Class Member ID from your notice.
“Pay your Natera balance to get your refund”
The settlement never requires you to pay a bill to receive money. Calls or texts tying the settlement to an outstanding Natera invoice, or asking for card details to “release” your share, are not from Kroll.
Mixing up the two Natera settlements
The $8.25 million accuracy case and this $9.5 million billing case have different sites and deadlines. A message claiming one deadline covers both, or that you must “re-file” here for a fee, is wrong. Real contact: info@geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com or 1 (833) 453-3593.
Settlement Administrator 83476 — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
What is “settlement administrator - 83476” on my mail?
It is Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, using the number 83476 in its return address for the Natera genetic screening test billing settlement. The full return address is Settlement Administrator – 83476, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, P.O. Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391. Kroll was appointed by the court on September 2, 2026.
Is geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com legitimate?
Yes. The court-approved notice in Calcaterra v. Natera, Inc., No. 4:23-cv-06342-YGR, names www.geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com as the settlement website, with contact info@geneticscreeningtestsettlement.com and toll-free 1 (833) 453-3593. Our Kroll page covers the administrator itself.
Do I need receipts?
No. If your ID starts with “A,” Natera’s own records already show your payment. If it starts with “B,” you can still claim up to $50, but because Natera’s records do not show your payment you may need to attest to it or provide documentation on the claim form.
When is the claim deadline?
Claims must be submitted online or received by mail by May 3, 2027. The opt-out and objection deadline is December 28, 2026.
When will I get paid?
Not before the final approval hearing on March 2, 2027, and only after any appeals are resolved. No payment date has been announced. Once checks go out, our checks-mailed tracker and check cashing guide cover what happens next.
Is this the same as the Natera NIPT accuracy settlement?
No. That is a separate $8,250,000 case, No. 4:22-cv-00985-JST, over the alleged accuracy of the prenatal tests. Some people are in both; your combined recovery cannot exceed what you paid out of pocket for the prenatal test.
I got a Kroll letter but not about Natera. Is it related?
Probably not. Kroll runs many settlements and also sends identity-monitoring offers after data breaches; each uses its own case number. Our page on whether Kroll monitoring is legit covers the breach letters.
What does Natera have to change?
Besides the money, Natera will add this line to the front of Panorama and Horizon invoices: “Please review the back of this bill for information about our billing policy and payment options.”
