Class Action Settlement Checks Mailed: Which Went Out, When, and How to Find Yours

Reference Guide

Get a free case reviewCase status

People search “class action settlement checks mailed 2024” or “class action settlement checks mailed 2022” because a check showed up — or did not. There is no single list: each settlement has its own administrator and its own mailing date, set only after a court approves the deal. Below are real mailings with dates from FTC, CFPB and court-appointed administrator sites, the rules that decide when settlement checks are mailed, and what to do if yours is missing. One mailing many people look for is the Wells Fargo CARES Act check, which the administrator said would go out by the end of August 2026.

AI Legal Assistant · free · answers in seconds · general information, not legal advice

Independent information service: Settlement Insight is not the settlement administrator, is not affiliated with or endorsed by the company named above, and is not a law firm. Submitting this form does not file a claim — it shares your information with our participating legal intake partners, who may contact you about your options.

Class actions evolve fast — eligibility, deadlines, and payouts change. Add your details and we'll connect you with a class-action attorney for a free, no-obligation review and email you status updates on this case.

Why Settlement Checks Are Mailed When They Are

A class action settlement pays nothing until a judge signs off. Federal Rule 23(e) says a class claim may be settled “only with the court's approval,” and Rule 23(e)(2) allows approval only after a hearing and a finding that the deal is “fair, reasonable, and adequate.” One thing the judge must weigh is “the effectiveness of any proposed method of distributing relief” — check, PayPal, Venmo or direct deposit.

Notice and payment follow the same logic. Rule 23(c)(2)(B) requires “the best notice that is practicable,” including individual notice by “United States mail, electronic means, or other appropriate means.” So the address or email the administrator has on file is the one that matters.

Government refunds run on a parallel track. The FTC says its Office of Claims and Refunds builds a payment plan only once a case is final and “the defendants have paid the money ordered by the court.” Money left over usually goes to the U.S. Treasury rather than back to you.

Case details

Real examples, each from the official source:

Wells Fargo CARES Act (California). Stoff v. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Case No. 37-2020-00020808-CU-BT-CTL, Superior Court of California, County of San Diego. The court approved the settlement on June 10, 2026, and the official site says the administrator will mail a check to each class member “by the end of August 2026.” No claim form was needed. Our reporting covers the amount people expect, the August deadline, the net fund and the cashing clock, and the per-person estimate from the court record.

Navient (CFPB). The CFPB case page lists payments from February 13, 2026 as ongoing, administered by Rust Consulting. Details: Navient settlement checks.

Fortnite (FTC). First round on December 9, 2024: 629,344 payments, about half by check. Second round in June 2025: 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million, per the FTC refund page.

Status as of October 2026: Rolling Mailings, No Master List

This is a reference guide, not a single case. There is no government database of every one of the class action checks mailed. Each mailing is announced, if at all, by the court-appointed administrator, the FTC or the CFPB.

As of October 2026: the Navient checks are listed by the CFPB as ongoing; the Wells Fargo CARES Act checks were scheduled to go out by the end of August 2026; and the FTC says it expects further Fortnite payments in 2026. The $700 million Google Play settlement won final approval from Judge James Donato in San Francisco, as reported on August 19, 2026, but that one pays mostly through PayPal or Venmo, not paper checks — and the report said distributions had not yet begun.

Will My Settlement Check Be Mailed to Me?

It depends on the settlement — and the official notice tells you which kind it is.

Automatic payments. Some settlements pay everyone the defendant can identify from its own records. The Wells Fargo site states it plainly: “Do nothing and receive a settlement check.” The CFPB says affected Navient consumers are receiving a check because of the settlement.

Claim-based payments. Others pay only people who filed a valid claim, and you get the method you picked. The Credit Karma refunds went only to 50,994 people who claimed before the March 4, 2024 deadline. For Fortnite, the FTC says “you will get the payment type that you selected during the claims process.”

If you filed nothing and the settlement required a claim, no check is coming. Browse open class action settlements for deadlines that are still ahead.

How Much Settlement Checks Actually Pay

Amounts vary enormously and are usually set only after claims close, because a fixed fund is divided among the people who claimed. Real figures from official sources: the Fortnite first round averaged about $114 per payment (FTC, December 2024). The AH Media refunds in June 2022 were 176,028 checks totaling more than $5.4 million. The Credit Karma round sent more than $2.5 million to 50,994 people.

Headline settlement figures are not per-person figures. Fees, administration costs and the number of claimants come out first. To estimate your share, try the payout calculator.

Settlement Checks Mailed: Dated Examples

  1. June 2022 — FTC Mails 176,028 Checks

Refunds totaling more than $5.4 million go to people charged for AH Media Group “free trial” offers. Recipients are told to cash within 90 days.

  2. October 31, 2024 — Credit Karma Refunds

The FTC sends checks and PayPal payments to 50,994 people who claimed before March 4, 2024. Checks: 90 days to cash; PayPal: 30 days.

  3. December 9, 2024 — Fortnite Round One

The FTC sends 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million, about half by check. Average payment about $114.

  4. June 2025 — Fortnite Round Two

969,173 more payments totaling more than $126 million. The FTC says it expects additional payments in 2026.

  5. February 13, 2026 — Navient Checks Begin

The CFPB lists payments to borrowers it alleged were steered into forbearance as running from this date and ongoing.

  6. August 2026 — Wells Fargo CARES Act Checks Due

Following court approval on June 10, 2026, the administrator in Stoff v. Wells Fargo was to mail checks by the end of August 2026.

Three Things to Watch For

“Your settlement check is ready” is one of the easiest lines for a scammer to use, because most people genuinely forgot what they filed:

A fee to “release” your check

No real administrator or agency charges you to receive money. The FTC says it “never requires people to pay money or provide account information to get a refund.” A request for a processing fee, gift card or wire transfer is the scam.

Calls claiming to be the FTC

The FTC warns that scammers impersonate it, and that it “will never threaten you, say you must transfer money to get a refund, or promise you a prize.” Hang up and call the administrator number printed on the agency's own case page.

Lookalike “check status” sites

Pages promising to look up any settlement check by your Social Security number are not administrators. Real check questions go to the administrator named in your notice — for example Rust Consulting at 1-800-711-8418 for Navient, as listed by the CFPB.

Settlement Checks — Questions People Actually Ask

Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.

Where is my class action settlement check?

Start with the official settlement website or agency page named in your notice — not a news site. It will say whether payments have gone out and give the administrator's phone number. Administrators like Rust Consulting and JND Legal Administration answer consumers' questions about their payments. If the site says payments have not started, nothing is late yet.

Will my settlement check be mailed to me?

Only if that settlement pays by check and you are on its payment list. Some pay automatically (Wells Fargo CARES Act); others pay only valid claimants, by the method they picked. The Google Play settlement pays mostly via PayPal or Venmo, with a supplemental claims process for people who expected a payment but did not get one.

Which class action settlement checks were mailed in 2024?

Examples from official FTC releases: Credit Karma refunds to 50,994 people on October 31, 2024, and the first Fortnite round of 629,344 payments on December 9, 2024. Each settlement has its own date — there is no single annual list.

Which class action settlement checks were mailed in 2022?

One documented example: in June 2022 the FTC sent 176,028 checks totaling more than $5.4 million to people charged for AH Media Group “free trial” offers. Checks from 2022 have long since expired; ask the administrator or the FTC whether a reissue is still possible.

What class action settlements are paying out this month?

As of October 2026, the CFPB lists Navient payments as ongoing, the Wells Fargo CARES Act checks were due out by the end of August 2026, and the FTC expects more Fortnite payments in 2026. This is not a complete list; check each official site before assuming a check is coming.

How long do I have to cash a settlement check?

The deadline is printed on the check. FTC refund checks consistently say 90 days; PayPal payments must be accepted within 30 days. Once a check voids, the money may be redistributed or, in FTC cases, sent to the U.S. Treasury — so deposit promptly.

Has anyone received their Blue Cross Blue Shield settlement check yet?

That is a separate settlement with its own administrator and timeline, and this page does not track it. See our BCBS settlement check status page for where those payments stand.

Someone says I have a settlement check waiting. Is it real?

Verify it yourself: find the case on the official administrator, FTC or CFPB site and call the number listed there, not the one in the message. Real administrators do not charge fees. See what a real settlement check looks like.
