As of October 8, 2026 we found no Self Regional Healthcare lawsuit over tracking on its website or MyChart portal, and no Self Regional Healthcare settlement of any kind. What most people are actually holding is a July 17, 2025 letter about a breach at Nationwide Recovery Services, a debt collector the Greenwood hospital used back in 2012. Attorneys investigated; we found no filed Self Regional Healthcare class action. There is no claim form and no open deadline.

What Happened: Three Data Incidents, No Tracking Case
Many hospital systems have been sued for allegedly sending patient activity from their websites or MyChart portals to Meta or Google through tracking pixels. We searched for a Self Regional Healthcare MyChart lawsuit of that kind and found none — no complaint, no court, no settlement.
The Self Regional Healthcare data breach most people search for is a vendor incident. According to the hospital's notice letter, Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS) found suspicious activity on July 11, 2024, and someone had access to its network between July 5 and July 11, 2024, copying files. NRS is the successor to a debt collector Self Regional used in 2012, and the affected records were collected from the hospital between about 2012 and 2013. NRS sent Self Regional the list of affected patients on May 23, 2025; letters went out dated July 17, 2025.
Two older incidents also exist: a 2024 breach at the vendor The Medibase Group, and a laptop stolen from a Self Regional facility on May 25, 2014.
Case Details
No court case against Self Regional Healthcare over tracking or over the NRS breach turned up in our search. ClassAction.org ran an attorney investigation into the NRS incident at Self Regional and now marks it “Investigation Complete” — an investigation is a call for clients, not a lawsuit. HIPAA Journal reports that lawsuits have been filed against NRS and some of its other clients, but none that we found names Self Regional.
The Medibase breach did produce a settlement — but for a different hospital. Santiago et al. v. Staten Island University Hospital, in the Superior Court of Cherokee County, Georgia, covered 35,106 Staten Island patients and had a claim deadline of March 16, 2026. Self Regional patients were not in that class.
The only other cases we found are individual ones, such as a $1 million malpractice verdict in June 2017. We could not run a federal docket search for this page (the search service rate-limited us), so a recently filed case may not yet appear in news coverage.
Status: Reference Only, No Settlement
The free identity protection offered in the NRS letter had an enrollment deadline of October 17, 2025; that deadline has passed. If a case is filed or settled later, a court-appointed administrator mails or emails class members directly.
Who Was Affected
NRS breach: patients whose accounts went to collection through Self Regional's old debt-collection vendor around 2012 and 2013. Counts differ by source: HIPAA Journal's tracking table lists 31,177 people for Self Regional, while ClassAction.org cites about 27,084 South Carolina residents. Across all NRS clients, at least 560,067 people were affected. The letter lists name, date of birth, Social Security number, diagnosis, dates of service, provider names, medical and health insurance information.
Medibase breach: a January 26, 2024 incident that Medibase reported to Self Regional around May 28, 2024; fields reportedly included Social Security numbers, admit and discharge dates and outstanding balances.
MyChart users: Self Regional's portal is Epic MyChart at mychart.selfregional.org. Using it does not by itself make you part of any case — there is no tracking case. Our MyChart claim form asks whether you used the website or MyChart, what you did there and when you last did it, so we can tell you if a case elsewhere ever applies.
What You Can Get Right Now
For context only, not a prediction: the Medibase settlement for Staten Island patients offered a $35 flat payment or up to $1,000 for documented losses. Hospital tracking settlements elsewhere have used different formulas; our MyChart settlement calculator and data breach settlement calculator show typical ranges. Compare Wellstar and SSM Health, where tracking cases did exist.

Three Things to Watch For
A real breach letter plus a debt-collection angle is an easy script for fraudsters:
Callers about an old collection account
The stolen NRS files were debt-collection records. Someone citing a 2012 balance and asking you to pay or “verify” your Social Security number is not Self Regional. Call the hospital's number from its website instead.
“Self Regional settlement claim” sites
There is no Self Regional Healthcare settlement. A page asking for your Social Security number or a fee to “secure your payment” is collecting data, not filing a claim.
Fake MyChart security texts
MyChart does use two-step verification codes, which makes “confirm your code” messages look normal. Never read a code to a caller; MyChart support is (864) 725-2737.
Self Regional Healthcare — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Self Regional Healthcare MyChart lawsuit?
No, not that we could find as of October 8, 2026. We found no complaint alleging that Self Regional's website or MyChart portal shared patient activity with Meta, Google or other trackers, and no settlement.
What is the Self Regional Healthcare data breach letter I received?
Most likely the July 17, 2025 notice about Nationwide Recovery Services, a debt collector whose network was accessed July 5–11, 2024. The affected records came from Self Regional collection work around 2012 and 2013.
Is the letter real?
The NRS notice was issued on Self Regional letterhead, offered IDX identity protection and listed a toll-free line, 1-855-202-8275. If in doubt, call Self Regional directly using the number on its website rather than any number in a message you received.
Is there a Self Regional Healthcare class action I can join?
Not that we found. ClassAction.org's attorney investigation into the NRS incident is marked complete, and we found no filed case naming Self Regional. You cannot sign up for a class that does not exist.
I was in the Medibase breach. Can I claim from the Staten Island settlement?
No. That settlement, Santiago v. Staten Island University Hospital, covered Staten Island University Hospital patients only, and its claim deadline was March 16, 2026.
How many Self Regional patients were affected by the NRS breach?
Sources differ: HIPAA Journal lists 31,177, ClassAction.org cites about 27,084 South Carolina residents. Your own letter is the proof that you were included.
What is Self Regional's patient portal called?
MyChart, Epic's portal, at mychart.selfregional.org. Self Regional moved to a new Epic version on October 23, 2021.
What should I do now?
Keep the notice letter. Freeze your credit at all three bureaus — free and reversible. Read insurer explanation-of-benefits statements for care you never received. If a lawsuit is filed later, class members are notified directly.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
