Questions about this case?

AI Legal Assistant · free · answers in seconds · general information, not legal advice

A $600,000 settlement is open for people whose Social Security numbers and employment records were exposed in the February 2025 breach at Crossroads Trading, the buy-sell-trade fashion retailer. Documented losses pay up to $5,000; everyone else can take a $25 flat payment, and California residents can add a $100 statutory payment on top. The claim deadline is 13 October 2026 — 50 days from the date this page was last reviewed.

Independent information service: Settlement Insight is not the settlement administrator, is not affiliated with or endorsed by the company named above, and is not a law firm. Submitting this form does not file a claim — it shares your information with our participating legal intake partners, who may contact you about your options.

What Happened

Crossroads Trading Co., the California-based second-hand fashion chain, experienced a data breach on 15 February 2025. The compromised files contained Social Security numbers and other sensitive personal information — the lawsuits were brought on behalf of current and former employees, customers, and other individuals whose information was impacted. The settlement class is everyone residing in the United States whose information may have been compromised, including all who received a breach notice — not only staff and job applicants. Crossroads denies wrongdoing and settled to end the litigation.

Case Details

The case is Wright, et al. v. Crossroads Trading Co., Inc., Case No. 25CV479119, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara. The settlement administrator is Kroll Settlement Administration (P.O. Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391, phone 833-930-0258), and the official settlement website is crossroadssettlement.com — the claim form is filed there. The final approval hearing is set for 13 January 2027.

Status as of 24 August 2026

Claims are OPEN. Three deadlines matter, and they are not the same date: the window to be excluded from the settlement or to object closed on 14 September 2026, while the claim form deadline is still open until 13 October 2026. Payment follows the 13 January 2027 final approval hearing plus any appeal period, so money realistically arrives in 2027. One caution: settlement notices name the case and the website that goes with it. A separate, similarly-named settlement website exists for a parallel case against Crossroads — use the exact website printed on your notice, and if you have no notice, verify through the administrator's phone line rather than a search result.

Don't miss the claim deadline

Claims are due by October 13, 2026. We'll email you 7 days and 1 day before the deadline.

Who Qualifies and What It Pays

The class covers people whose information was compromised in the 15 February 2025 breach — all individuals residing in the United States whose information may have been compromised, including all those who received notice of the incident — current and former employees, customers and others. Every class member can also claim two years of complimentary three-bureau credit monitoring. Three payment paths: (1) documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000 — identity theft costs, credit monitoring you paid for, fraud losses, bank fees, with receipts or statements attached; (2) a $25 flat cash payment with no documentation required; and (3) for California residents (residency between 15 February 2025 and 13 October 2026), an additional $100 statutory payment reflecting California's stronger data-protection statutes. The paths stack for Californians: a CA resident with no documentation can claim $125.

Reading the Numbers Honestly

A $600,000 fund is small as data-breach settlements go, and the mechanics matter: documented-loss claims, flat payments, the California statutory payments, administration costs and attorneys' fees all come out of the same pot. If claims exceed the fund, payments get reduced pro rata — the printed figures are caps, not guarantees. The realistic read: $25–$125 for most people filing without documentation, meaningful recovery only for people who can paper actual identity-theft losses. That is still worth twenty minutes: an SSN exposure is the kind that matters for years, and a documented-loss claim here does not waive your ability to freeze your credit or monitor accounts going forward.

How This Case Developed

  1. 1

    15 February 2025 — the breach

Crossroads Trading's systems are accessed; files containing Social Security numbers and employment-related data are compromised.

  2. 2

    2025 — notification and lawsuit

Affected employees and applicants are notified. Wright, et al. v. Crossroads Trading Co. is filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court, No. 25CV479119.

  3. 3

    2026 — settlement reached

The parties agree to a $600,000 fund covering documented losses, flat payments and California statutory payments. Crossroads denies wrongdoing.

  4. 4

    14 September 2026 — opt-out and objection deadline (passed)

Requests for exclusion and objections are due — 21 days from this page's review date.

  5. 5

    13 October 2026 — claim deadline

Claim forms are due at crossroadssettlement.com or by mail to Kroll. No claim, no payment.

  6. 6

    13 January 2027 — final approval hearing

The court decides whether to approve the settlement. Payments follow approval and any appeals.

Three Things to Ignore

An SSN-breach settlement with a real deadline attracts impostors — three patterns to refuse.

A claim site that is not on your notice

There is more than one Crossroads-related settlement website because there is more than one case. The one that pays YOUR claim is printed on your notice; when in doubt, call Kroll at 833-930-0258 instead of trusting a search result.

Anyone charging a filing fee

Filing is free. A service that charges to submit the form, or to 'maximize' your payment, is taking a cut of $25.

Callers asking for your full SSN to 'verify' you

The administrator identifies you by the notice ID it mailed you. An unsolicited caller asking for your full Social Security number is running the second scam on people already hit by the first breach.

Common Questions

What is the claim deadline?

13 October 2026 — still open. Opt-outs and objections closed earlier, on 14 September 2026. The final approval hearing is 13 January 2027.

I shopped at Crossroads — am I covered?

Possibly. The lawsuits were filed on behalf of current and former employees, customers, and other individuals whose information was impacted, and the class covers everyone residing in the United States whose information may have been compromised, including all who received a breach notice. If you received a notice letter, you are in; if you are unsure, check with Kroll at 833-930-0258.

How much will I actually get?

Up to $5,000 with documented losses, $25 without documentation, plus $100 if you meet the California residency window. If total claims exceed the $600,000 fund, amounts reduce pro rata — treat the caps as ceilings, not promises.

What counts as a documented loss?

Out-of-pocket costs fairly traceable to the breach: fraud losses, credit-monitoring or freeze fees you paid, bank charges, notary or mailing costs for disputes — each backed by a receipt, invoice or statement.

Do current employees claim differently from former ones?

The claim form is the same. What differs is the California statutory payment, which depends on where you lived between 15 February 2025 and 13 October 2026, not on where you worked.

When does the money arrive?

After the 13 January 2027 final approval hearing and any appeal window — realistically well into 2027.

Should I still freeze my credit?

Yes. A $25 payment does not un-expose an SSN. A credit freeze at the three bureaus is free, takes minutes, and does more for you than the settlement payment will.

How do I verify this page?

Through crossroadssettlement.com, the Kroll phone line (833-930-0258), and the Santa Clara County docket for Wright v. Crossroads Trading Co., No. 25CV479119. Details reflect those sources as read on 24 August 2026.
