Which Medtronic Case You Are Asking About
This page covers only the payout question. For the case itself, see our Medtronic data breach settlement page.
Two different things show up under the search “medtronic settlement payout date”:
1. The April 2026 data breach. Notices went to 3,834,294 people. The lawsuits are pending. Nothing has been paid and no payout is scheduled.
2. The InPen app privacy settlement. A separate, older case against Medtronic MiniMed over tracking tools in the InPen app. It settled for $475,000 and was approved in September 2025. If you never used InPen between September 1, 2020 and April 13, 2023, it does not involve you.
Case details
Data breach: the lead federal case is In re Medtronic Data Sec. Incident Litig., No. 0:26-cv-02406, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, filed April 29, 2026. An early suit, Marquardt v. Medtronic, Inc., No. 0:26-cv-02418, was filed April 30, 2026; our docket data lists it as closed on June 25, 2026.
InPen app: A.H. v. Medtronic MiniMed, Inc. and MiniMed Distribution Corp., No. 2:23-cv-07154, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Judge Josephine L. Staton granted final approval on September 18, 2025. The administrator is Simpluris.
Payout Status as of October 2026
The order of steps if a deal is ever reached: settlement announced, preliminary approval, notice and a claim period, a final approval hearing, then an appeal window. Money goes out only after all of that. In most breach cases that takes many months from the deal.
InPen app: approved, payment timing not confirmed by us. The notice says approved claimants get paid “once the Settlement is Final and has become effective.” We could not reach the official site, so we cannot confirm whether or when checks went out.

Who Could Be Paid
Data breach: nobody yet. If a settlement happens, the people who got a Medtronic breach notice letter are the likely class. You would not need to sign up now; an administrator would contact class members. Keep your letter.
InPen app: only people who filed a valid claim by June 21, 2025. The court counted 641 valid claims. If you did not file, the notice states you get nothing from this settlement and are still bound by it.
How Much Each Person Gets
InPen app: about $438.55 per valid claim, by the court’s estimate. From the $475,000 fund the court approved $158,333 in attorneys’ fees, $5,588.44 in costs, a $2,500 service award and $24,968 for administration. The rest is split among the 641 valid claimants. If money is left after the first checks, it is redistributed to those who cashed them while the average check is at least $3.00; uncashed funds go to a charity.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 16,001 other personal property damage casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 11.3% of them filed as class actions:
- 32.5% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 19.5% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 32.5% and 52.1%.
- 5.9% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 90 reached a trial (1.1%), after a median of 27.5 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 8.4 months.
- Only 250 of them (1.6%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $443,000.

Three Things to Watch For
People searching for a Medtronic payout date are an easy target, because a real payout does not exist yet:
“Your Medtronic settlement payment is ready”
No Medtronic data breach payment exists as of October 2026. A message asking you to confirm your Social Security number or bank details to receive one is fake.
Mixing up the credit-monitoring code with a claim
The enrollment code in your Medtronic letter is for the free monitoring, not a settlement claim. Anyone asking you to send them that code or pay to “activate” a payout is not part of the case.
Leaked-data or “delete your records” offers
The attackers claim to hold more than 9 million records; that is their claim, not a finding. Do not pay or reply to anyone offering to remove your data or sell it back to you.
Medtronic Payout — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
What is the Medtronic settlement payout date?
There is none for the data breach. As of October 19, 2026 the case has no settlement, so no payout date exists. The separate InPen app settlement was approved September 18, 2025; we could not confirm its payment date from the official site.
Is there a Medtronic data breach settlement payout?
Not yet. The lawsuits, led by No. 0:26-cv-02406 in the District of Minnesota, are pending. There is no fund, no claim form and no deadline.
How much will I get from the Medtronic data breach?
Nothing is payable, and no amount has been set. What is available now is the 24 months of free credit monitoring offered in the notice letters.
I got money or a notice about MiniMed. Is that the breach case?
No. That is A.H. v. Medtronic MiniMed, No. 2:23-cv-07154, about tracking tools in the InPen app from September 1, 2020 to April 13, 2023. It has nothing to do with the April 2026 breach.
How long does it take to get a payout from a class action settlement?
The InPen case is a real example: claims closed June 21, 2025, the final approval hearing was July 11, 2025, and approval came September 18, 2025. Payment follows only once the settlement is final and effective. The breach case has not reached the first step.
What is the average payout for a class action settlement?
It depends on the fund and how many people claim. In the InPen case, a $475,000 fund and 641 valid claims gave an estimated $438.55 each. A breach with millions of people usually pays far less per person.
What was the verdict in the Medtronic bundling case?
That is a different case: a competitor, Applied Medical, sued Medtronic over hospital pricing (No. 8:23-cv-00268, Central District of California) and won a jury verdict in February 2026. It is a business dispute; consumers and breach victims get no payout from it.
Do I need to do anything now to be paid later?
No. You cannot file a breach claim because none exists. Keep your notice letter, enroll in the free monitoring if you want it, and watch for a notice from a court-appointed administrator.
