Which Labcorp Payout This Page Covers
This page covers one question: when the $35 million Labcorp AMCA settlement pays, and how much. Who is in the class, what the breach was and what the claim form offered are covered on our main Labcorp data breach settlement page.
Two different Labcorp settlements were in the news in 2026, and only one pays individuals. The $35 million class settlement pays people who filed a claim. The $2,287,455 attorneys general settlement, announced September 24, 2026, pays the states, not patients.
Case details
The class settlement is in In re: American Medical Collection Agency, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, No. 2:19-md-02904 (MDL No. 2904), Labcorp Track, in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Judge Jamel K. Semper presides over the MDL. With his consent, Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer signed the Final Approval Order and Judgment on August 20, 2026 (Doc. 940). The order dismisses the claims against Labcorp with prejudice and directs Kroll Settlement Administration, the court-appointed administrator, to keep administering the settlement.
Other labs that used AMCA are handled in separate tracks of the same MDL. A Sonic Healthcare settlement in the “Other Labs Track” is a separate deal with its own approval schedule, and it does not pay Labcorp claimants.
Status: Approved, Claims Closed, No Payment Date
Here is what must happen before money goes out, according to the court papers:
1. The appeal window has to run out. The official notice says benefits are distributed “after any appeals are resolved, or after the period to seek an appeal has expired.” In federal court that period is generally 30 days from judgment, so for a judgment entered in August it has already run unless a post-judgment motion or an appeal extended it. Three people objected, and the court overruled all three. We could not confirm whether any of them appealed.
2. Labcorp funds the rest. Under the agreement, $1,000,000 was due after preliminary approval. The remaining $34,000,000 was due 45 days after the August 20 order, which counts to early October 2026.
3. Kroll finishes claim review. In its declaration filed for the final approval motion, Kroll counted 152,697 claims received through July 27, 2026, and said it was still reviewing and validating them. More arrived before the September 3 deadline.
The court docket was still active in October 2026: a brief opposing a motion was filed on October 16, 2026 (Doc. 949). The docket description we have does not say which motion it concerns, or whether it affects the Labcorp track. Kroll's official site did not load for us, so check it directly for the latest payment status.
Who Gets Paid
Only class members who filed a valid claim by September 3, 2026 get cash. That deadline has passed. The court found that 11,825,034 potential class members were identified, and notices went out by email and postcard between June 1 and June 5, 2026.
How you are paid depends on how you filed. According to the claim form, electronic payment was available only for claims submitted online. If you mailed a paper claim form, “payment will be mailed to the address provided.” If you have moved since you filed, contact Kroll before payments go out.
Four people opted out, so they will not be paid. Class members who did not file a claim also get nothing in cash, but they are still bound by the release.
How Much the Labcorp Settlement Payout Is
What is left pays claims:
• Alternative cash payment: estimated at up to $50, no documents needed.
• Documented losses: reimbursement up to $5,000 per person, with proof.
Both are “subject to a pro rata increase or decrease depending upon the number of claims submitted.” If money is left after all valid claims are paid, it goes out pro rata to valid claimants. The final claim count and the final per-person amount had not been published as of October 19, 2026. Any figure you see quoted as your exact Labcorp settlement payout is a guess until Kroll announces it. For a rough pro rata estimate, see our settlement payout calculator.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 25,309 other fraud casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 27.6% of them filed as class actions:
- 17.1% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 22.9% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 17.1% and 39.9%.
- 10.2% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 112 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 29.9 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 7 months.
- Only 761 of them (3%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $663,000.

Three Things to Watch For
The gap between approval and payment is when fake “payout” messages show up. Watch for these:
“Pay a fee to release your Labcorp payment”
Your share is paid out of the settlement fund, and no fee is charged to receive it. Anyone asking for a processing fee, a gift card or bank login to “release” your $50 is not Kroll.
“File late — still time to claim”
The claim deadline was September 3, 2026. A site or text offering to file a new Labcorp claim now, or to “reinstate” a missed one, is collecting your data, not filing anything.
Fake Kroll contact details

Labcorp Settlement Payout — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
What is the Labcorp settlement payout date?
As of October 19, 2026, none has been announced. The court gave final approval on August 20, 2026, and claims closed September 3, 2026. Under the official notice, payments go out after the appeal period expires or after any appeals are resolved, and only once Kroll has finished reviewing claims.
How much money do people usually get in a class action lawsuit?
It depends on the fund and the number of claims, so there is no typical figure. In this case the cash option was estimated at up to $50, and documented losses could be reimbursed up to $5,000. Both amounts rise or fall pro rata with the number of valid claims.
Has the Labcorp settlement been approved?
Yes. Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer signed the Final Approval Order and Judgment on August 20, 2026, in MDL No. 2904 in the District of New Jersey. He overruled three objections.
Will I get money from the $2.3 million attorneys general settlement?
No. In that settlement, announced September 24, 2026, Labcorp pays $2,287,455 to the states (New York's share is $89,178) and agrees to change its security practices. It is separate from the $35 million class settlement, and individuals do not file claims in it.
I missed the September 3 deadline. Can I still get paid?
Under the settlement terms, cash goes only to class members who filed a valid claim by September 3, 2026. If you think you filed on time but have no confirmation, call Kroll at 1-833-447-6786.
Will I get a check or an electronic payment?
It depends on how you filed. According to the claim form, electronic payment was available only for claims filed online. Paper claim forms are paid by mail to the address on the form, so tell Kroll if you have moved since.
How many people filed a Labcorp claim?
Kroll's declaration for the final approval motion counted 152,697 claims received through July 27, 2026: 30,229 by mail and 122,468 online. That was out of 11,825,034 potential class members. The final count after the September 3 deadline had not been published as of October 19, 2026.
What happens if you never pay a Labcorp bill?
This page does not cover billing or collections. The only link to this settlement is that, according to Labcorp's SEC filings, it referred patient balances to AMCA “only when direct collection efforts were unsuccessful.” For a question about your own bill, contact Labcorp billing using the number on your statement.
