The Fire Victim Trust pays claims from the 2015 Butte, 2017 North Bay and 2018 Camp Fires. The Trust's progress report dated that day shows $13.95 billion paid to claimants against $19.57 billion awarded, up from $13.72 billion in its reports as of August 31 and September 30, 2026, and 66,228 claimants who have received pro rata payments, up from 66,156. As of October 19, 2026 the Trust has not posted a written notice that the payment went out; its newest Trustee letter is still the one of September 10, 2026. Official site: FireVictimTrust.com.

Fire Victim Trust’s October 14, 2026 Figures Show $13.95 Billion Paid, Up From $13.72 Billion on September 30 — the Date Set for the Final 1.25% Payment That Ends Awards at 71.25% — key figures at a glance

What happened on the October 14, 2026 payment date

The short answer for anyone asking about the Fire Victim Trust payments settlement payment date: the Trust's own numbers moved on October 14, 2026, the day the last pro rata payment was due. In her letter of September 10, 2026, Trustee Cathy Yanni wrote: “The next and final pro rata distribution will be 1.25%, resulting in an aggregate pro rata payment of 71.25%. This distribution will be made on October 14, 2026. There will be no additional pro rata distributions after this payment.”

The progress panel on FireVictimTrust.com now reads “Last updated on Oct 14, 2026” and shows $13.95 billion paid to claimants. The Trust's claims data report “as of October 14, 2026” gives the same total for preliminary and pro rata payments combined. In the reports as of August 31 and September 30, 2026, that figure was $13.72 billion. The difference is about $230 million (our calculation). The number of claimants who have received pro rata payments went from 66,156 to 66,228.

Two caveats, so you can judge the evidence yourself. First, as of October 19, 2026 the Trust has not published a letter, alert or press release saying the distribution was sent; the newest Trustee message on its Trust Updates page is still the one of September 10. Second, the October 14 report is not fully consistent: the line for pro rata payments still shows $12.75 billion, unchanged from September 30, and the monthly column is still labelled “September” with $0.2 million. We are reporting the figures as the Trust published them. Our case page on Fire Victim Trust payments tracks the payment history.

Who gets the final payment, and how much

The Trustee’s letter announces no new form or application for the final payment; it only asks claimants to keep their contact information up to date. It is a percentage of your own award, not a flat amount. The Trust's FAQ explains the rule: “No matter whether yours is the first claim to receive a notice or the last one, or whether the claim is for $100,000 or $1 million, you will receive the same percentage payment as everyone else.”

The arithmetic, which is ours and not the Trust's: 1.25 percent is $125 for every $10,000 of your Approved Claim Amount. On a $100,000 award, the final payment is $1,250, which brings the total to $71,250. The remaining 28.75% of every award will not be paid. The percentage had stood at 70% since October 24, 2024, and at 66% since April 25, 2024.

“What is the amount of the payout amount in the Camp Fire lawsuit?” There is no single per-person figure. Camp Fire claims are paid by this Trust together with the Butte and North Bay fires: as of October 14, 2026 the Trust shows $19.57 billion awarded to 71,787 claimants with determination notices, 66,530 of them eligible, and $13.95 billion paid. Each claimant ends at 71.25% of the amount in their own Determination Notice.

What reaches you can be less. If you have a lawyer, “the Trust will issue your payment to your law firm. Your law firm will then pay funds to you according to whatever representation agreement you have in place.” On Personal Injury and Emotional Distress awards, the Trust holds back money for medical liens: “For most Claimants, the maximum amount that the Trust will withhold is 33% of amounts paid to date.”

What to do if the final payment has not reached you

If you are represented, ask your law firm first: the Trust pays represented claimants through the firm, not directly. If you are not represented, the Trust pays you “in accordance with the payment instructions you provided on your Payment Election Form,” and “all unrepresented Claimants can receive payments by ACH Electronic Payment or check.” Check the account or mailing address on file in your portal.

The Trustee asked claimants before the payment to “review and update their contact information, including their email address, mailing address, and telephone number.” If something is missing, contact the Claims Processor for the Fire Victim Trust: phone 1-888-664-1152, email info@firevictimtrust.com, or mail to Fire Victim Trust, P.O. Box 25936, Richmond, VA 23260. Do not write to Kroll about a payment; the Trust says “Kroll is not responsible for receiving and processing information related to your Fire Victim Trust claims.”

Real or a scam: how to check a message about this payment

The only official site is FireVictimTrust.com, and the only contact channels are the phone number, email and P.O. box listed there. Anyone who asks for a fee to release your final payment, or who promises payments beyond 71.25%, contradicts the Trustee's own statement that there will be “no additional pro rata distributions after this payment.”

To report a suspicious call, text or email, the Trust's FAQ says: “If you suspect or know of potential fraud concerning the Fire Victim Trust, you can report it by clicking here and using the online form created by the Claims Administrator. You also may call (1-888-664-1152) or email … to report potential fraud.” Reports can be made “anonymously and confidentially.”

Taxes, Paradise and FireAid: what this Trust does and does not cover

“Do you have to pay taxes on fire settlement?” The Trust does not answer that for individual claimants. Its Trustee supported tax relief and, in a letter of December 17, 2024, discussed “the President’s signing of H.R. 5863, the Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act.” Earlier she had asked Congress to support H.R. 7024, which “would exclude qualified wildfire relief payments from gross income.” How that applies to your payment is a question for a tax advisor.

“Where did FireAid money go?” This page cannot answer that. The Fire Victim Trust compensates only “the 2015 Butte, 2017 North Bay, and 2018 Camp Fires,” and its only statement on the January 2025 Los Angeles County fires was a letter of sympathy dated January 15, 2025; questions about benefit funds for those fires belong with the organisations that raised them.

What happens next

The Trust's sources give only these dated points:

  • October 14, 2026: the final pro rata distribution of 1.25%, for 71.25% in total. Per the Trustee, “there will be no additional pro rata distributions after this payment.”
  • Records: “data associated with the Fire Victim Trust will be retained for a period of ten years.”
  • Court filings: the Trust files its annual report in the bankruptcy case; the last two were filed on April 25, 2025 (Dkt. 14743) and April 30, 2026 (Dkt. 15050).

As of October 19, 2026 the Trust has not published any further dated step — no hearing, deadline or payment date — after October 14, 2026. We will update our Fire Victim Trust payments page when it does.
