Yes, money is going out. Under a court order signed September 14, 2026, Amazon began a new round of automatic payments on October 1, 2026 — by mailed check, PayPal or Venmo, with no claim form. The cap is now $200 per person in total, up from $51. This page covers only the payout: dates, amounts, how to check your status and what to do with an expired check. Where the Money Comes From
The payments come from the FTC's own enforcement case against Amazon, not from a private class action. The FTC alleged that Amazon enrolled customers in Prime without their consent and made it hard to cancel; Amazon did not admit wrongdoing. Under the September 2025 settlement, Amazon put $1.5 billion into a consumer fund and paid a separate $1 billion civil penalty. Amazon itself runs the payouts through a claims administrator, under an independent claims supervisor — the FTC does not send the money. The FTC puts the affected group at an estimated 35 million consumers.
Case Details
Federal Trade Commission v. Amazon.com, Inc., No. 2:23-cv-00932-JHC, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, Judge John H. Chun. The original order was entered September 25, 2025. On September 14, 2026 Judge Chun signed the Stipulated Order Regarding Residual Payouts of Consumer Redress Fund, which sets every remaining payment date on this page. The FTC announced it on September 17, 2026.
Amazon Prime Settlement Check Status: Paying Out Now
Who is being paid right now: customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period and were never paid before. Their payments began October 1, 2026. Earlier groups — the automatic group paid by December 22, 2025 and the claim-form group paid from August 30, 2026 — are not part of this round.
How to check your status: the official site is SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com. For payment problems, email admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com or call 1-888-999-8094 (both listed by the FTC). News reports citing the settlement site say to include your Claim ID and your preferred payment method (PayPal, Venmo or mailed check). The official site blocked our automated checks, so we could not confirm whether it offers an online status lookup.
Who Gets Paid Automatically
Everyone still eligible is paid automatically. The FTC says no claim, notice or form is needed. Per the FTC, you are eligible if you were a U.S. Prime customer who signed up through a challenged enrollment flow, or tried and failed to cancel online, between June 23, 2019 and June 23, 2025, and used no more than 20 Prime benefits in any 12-month period.
The claim-form window closed on July 27, 2026. That no longer decides who gets paid: from August 30, 2026 the court order also covered people who were sent a claim form but filed an invalid one or none, as long as they had not already been paid. Amazon decides who qualifies from its own records — you cannot apply now.
How Much: Paid So Far vs. What Is Still Possible
Possible, not guaranteed: the order allows a top-up of up to $149, for a $200 total. It happens only if less than $1 billion has been accepted when Amazon reconciles the fund by the end of March 2027. It goes only to people who accepted an earlier payment, and it is split pro rata, so it may be well under $149. That round begins by the end of April 2027. An “Amazon Prime settlement check” for $200 today would be unusual, because today's payments are still capped at $51.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 83,315 other statutory actions casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 11.8% of them filed as class actions:
- 25.6% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 22.4% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 25.6% and 47.9%.
- 7.4% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 156 reached a trial (0.6%), after a median of 21.8 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 4.9 months.
- Only 1,756 of them (2.1%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $199,500.

Is It Real? Three Traps Tied to This Payout
Real payments come from Amazon's program, by check, PayPal or Venmo, and never cost anything. Watch for:
Calls “from the FTC” about your Amazon refund
The FTC says it is not contacting anyone about Amazon refunds, and that a caller claiming to be from the FTC is a scam. Report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Fees to “release” or speed up your payment
The FTC says no one from Amazon will ever ask you for money to get a refund, and that only scammers promise special access or a guaranteed refund. A request for a fee or for bank details is the tell.
“Last chance to file your Prime claim” sites
The claim window closed July 27, 2026, and every payment since then is automatic. A site that wants a form, your Amazon password or your Social Security number to “check eligibility” is not part of the settlement. Use only SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com or the FTC's refund page.
Amazon Prime Settlement Check — Questions People Actually Ask
What is my Amazon Prime settlement check status?
As of October 2026, Amazon is paying customers who used 11 to 20 Prime benefits in a year and were never paid before. That round began October 1, 2026. If you were paid in an earlier round, you will not get another payment until the possible top-up that begins by the end of April 2027. For questions about your own payment, email admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com or call 1-888-999-8094.
What is the Amazon Prime settlement payment date?
It depends on your group. Automatic payments were sent by December 22, 2025. The claim-form group was paid starting August 30, 2026. The 11-to-20-benefit group was paid starting October 1, 2026. Any top-up starts by the end of April 2027. The FTC says eligible customers get their refund by April 2027.
How do I get my settlement from Amazon Prime?
You do not have to do anything to receive it. Payments arrive automatically by mailed check, PayPal or Venmo. The one thing you must do is accept it in time: cash the check, or accept the PayPal or Venmo payment. The FTC says payments expire 60 days after they are issued. News reports citing the settlement site give 30 days for PayPal and Venmo, so accept electronic payments right away.
How much is the Amazon Prime settlement check?
Your Prime fees, refunded up to $51 in the current rounds. A later top-up of up to $149 (for a total of $200) is possible but not guaranteed. It depends on how much money is left in March 2027, it is split pro rata, and it goes only to people who accepted an earlier payment.
My payment expired or I lost the check. Can it be reissued?
Possibly not. Under the September 14, 2026 order, payments issued before June 25, 2026 that were still unaccepted were voided on September 15, 2026 and need not be reissued. For the October 2026 round, anything not accepted by March 5, 2027 is voided and need not be reissued. If your check is lost before that date, email admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com promptly with your Claim ID.
Where can I find the Amazon settlement claim form?
You can't — and you don't need one. The last day to submit a claim form was July 27, 2026. Under the revised order, all future payments are automatic, with no claims, notices or forms.
Amazon Prime settlement payment date Canada: do Canadians get paid?
No. The FTC settlement covers only Amazon Prime customers in the United States, so there is no Amazon Prime settlement payment date for Canada. Separately, in May 2026 a Quebec Superior Court judge allowed a class action over late Prime deliveries to proceed for Quebec subscribers from January 22, 2025 to March 31, 2025. That case is not settled and has no payment date.
How do I know if I got a refund from Amazon?
Settlement money arrives only as a mailed check or a PayPal or Venmo payment, according to the FTC — so it will not appear as a refund on an Amazon order. Check your mail and your PayPal or Venmo account. Refunds for ordinary orders are a separate matter handled by Amazon's own customer service, not by this settlement.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
