What Was Actually Found on the Scripps Website
The tracking question comes from journalism, not a court filing. On June 16, 2022, The Markup published a test of Newsweek’s top 100 hospitals and found the Meta Pixel sending appointment data to Facebook on 33 of them.
Scripps Memorial Hospital was named. When reporters clicked “Finish Booking” on a Scripps doctor’s page, the pixel sent Facebook the doctor’s name and specialty plus the first name, last name, email, phone number, zip code and city typed into the form. Scripps did not answer The Markup’s questions, but it removed the pixel from the final booking pages after seeing the findings.
That report fed a wave of hospital tracking suits. As of October 2026, we found no Scripps Health class action lawsuit built on it — no complaint, no docket and no settlement naming Scripps as a tracking defendant.
Case Details
The only Scripps Health data breach class action that reached a settlement is In re Scripps Health Data Incident Litigation, No. 37-2021-00024103-CU-BT-CTL, in San Diego County Superior Court. It consolidated suits filed after the 2021 ransomware attack, the first on June 1 and June 7, 2021. Two related suits went to federal court on June 21, 2021, including Rubenstein v. Scripps Health, No. 3:21-cv-01135, in the Southern District of California.
The ransomware complaints did not involve tracking pixels. They alleged weak security — and that patients were harmed by losing access to the MyScripps portal for weeks.
Status: Nothing Open for Scripps Patients
2021 ransomware case: closed. The opt-out and objection deadline was March 8, 2023, and the claim deadline was March 23, 2023. The final approval hearing was set for April 7, 2023, and payment emails went to claimants in June 2023. Late claims are not possible.
If a tracking suit is filed later, it would be a new case. Our MyChart tracking form asks whether you used the Scripps website or MyScripps, what you did there, and when you last used it — the facts that decide eligibility in tracking cases.
What Scripps Patients Can Check
The patient portal is MyScripps. It is Scripps’ name for Epic’s MyChart: sign-up runs through MyScripps.org/MyChart, and the older MyChart app opens the same account. It serves patients of Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center. If you searched “Scripps Health MyChart lawsuit”, this is the portal in question.
Three things worth writing down now, in case a tracking suit ever appears: whether you booked appointments on scripps.org (especially through a doctor’s page), whether you used MyScripps for messages, results or bills, and roughly when. In hospital tracking cases, the class is usually defined by those dates.
For the ransomware breach, your proof was the notice letter Scripps sent after the attack. That case is over, so a letter now only matters as a record.
What Scripps Patients Have Been Paid
Ransomware (closed): the 2023 settlement, which Scripps entered without admitting wrongdoing, was reported as expected to exceed $3.5 million. Class members could claim a $100 cash payment with no paperwork (subject to a pro rata increase), up to $1,000 for documented ordinary losses, and separate reimbursement for identity-theft losses suffered between April 29, 2021 and March 23, 2023. Scripps had already offered 12 months of credit monitoring to the fewer than 3,700 people whose Social Security or driver’s license numbers were taken.

Three Things to Watch For
A closed settlement and a well-known breach leave room for imposters:
The old Scripps settlement website
The address used for the 2023 payouts, scrippssettlement.com, now shows an unrelated Russian-language online casino page. Do not enter personal details there; it no longer has anything to do with Scripps or the court.
“Claim your Scripps MyChart settlement” offers
There is no Scripps tracking settlement as of October 2026. A form promising money for MyScripps use is collecting your data, not filing a claim.
Late “ransomware payment” emails
Genuine payment emails went out in June 2023 from noreply@epiqpay.com. A new message today asking you to verify a bank account or pay a fee to release Scripps settlement money is not from that case.
Scripps Health Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Scripps Health MyChart lawsuit?
Not that we could find, as of October 8, 2026. The Markup documented the Meta Pixel on a Scripps Memorial Hospital booking page in 2022, but we found no Scripps Health MyChart lawsuit, no tracking settlement and no claim form.
What is the Scripps patient portal called?
MyScripps. It runs on Epic’s MyChart — enrollment is at MyScripps.org/MyChart, and the MyChart app gives the same access. It serves Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center patients.
Was there a Scripps Health data breach settlement?
Yes, for the 2021 ransomware attack: In re Scripps Health Data Incident Litigation, No. 37-2021-00024103-CU-BT-CTL, San Diego County Superior Court. The Scripps Health settlement was reported as expected to exceed $3.5 million. The claim deadline was March 23, 2023, and it is closed.
Can I still file a claim for the ransomware settlement?
No. Claims were due March 23, 2023, and payments were sent in June 2023. There is no late-claim process.
Why do I see Scripps mentioned in Meta Pixel stories?
Because The Markup used a Scripps Memorial Hospital page as one example in its June 16, 2022 report. Being named in a news investigation is not the same as being sued.
Are there other Scripps Health class actions?
Older ones. A billing suit alleging uninsured patients were overcharged got class status in 2007; Franklin v. Scripps Health settled in June 2008 with 35% refunds or bill adjustments worth $73 million for 60,750 patients. Separately, the EEOC announced on December 19, 2023 that Scripps Clinical Medical Group would pay $6.875 million over a mandatory retirement age for physicians — an agency charge, not a class action.
Did the 2021 attack expose my medical records?
Scripps reported 147,267 affected patients and said fewer than 3,700 had Social Security or driver’s license numbers taken. Your notice letter states which fields applied to you.
What should I do now as a Scripps patient?
Nothing is required — there is no open case. Note when you used scripps.org booking pages or MyScripps, keep any notice letters, and treat any “Scripps settlement” message asking for bank or Social Security details as suspect.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
