The Planned Parenthood lawsuit most people can act on is not against Planned Parenthood itself. Laboratory Services Cooperative, the lab that ran tests for Planned Parenthood health centers, agreed to a $6.1 million data breach settlement. Claims are due November 24, 2026. The other cases in the news — a Texas Medicaid fraud suit and the fights over Medicaid funding — pay nothing to patients.

What the Lawsuits Are About
Searches for a “planned parenthood lawsuit” mix several unrelated cases. Only the data breach cases pay patients.
The lab breach. Laboratory Services Cooperative (LSC) is a Seattle nonprofit lab that tests samples for Planned Parenthood affiliates in 31 states. LSC became aware of a breach on or about October 27, 2024. Reporting puts the number affected at approximately 1.6 million patients and employees. Exposed data included names, dates of birth, medical, insurance and billing information and Social Security numbers. The lawsuits allege LSC failed to protect that data. LSC denies wrongdoing.
The Texas Medicaid fraud case. A whistleblower suit, joined by Texas, claims three Planned Parenthood affiliates kept billing Medicaid after Texas and Louisiana ended their eligibility. It seeks $1.8 billion. Planned Parenthood says the billing was lawful while courts had paused the terminations.
The Medicaid funding cases. Planned Parenthood and others sued over federal and state moves to cut it out of Medicaid. These are policy cases; nobody files a claim in them.

Active, no payout to patients: the Texas Medicaid fraud case is back in the Amarillo district court after the August 12, 2026 Fifth Circuit ruling. Any money recovered there would go to the government, not to patients.

Who Can Claim in the Planned Parenthood Settlement
Per the official notice, you may be in the LSC settlement class if you received or paid for lab tests ordered by a Planned Parenthood health center on or before October 27, 2024, or if you were employed by LSC. The formal class is all U.S. residents whose personal information was potentially compromised in that incident.
Notification letters started going out on or around April 10, 2025. Keep yours: it shows you were included.
The Planned Parenthood Los Angeles settlement covered people notified by PPLA in or around November 2021. That claim period is over.
What the LSC Settlement Pays
— reimbursement of documented, unreimbursed losses up to $5,000;
— a pro rata cash payment of up to $1,000, likely lower because it shrinks as more people file;
— two years of credit and medical information monitoring.
With approximately 1.6 million people in the class, the cash payment will likely be well under the cap. Nothing is paid until the court grants final approval and any appeals end. For comparison, the PPLA settlement estimated about $66 per person at a 10% participation rate.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 15,171 other personal property damage casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2025, 10.4% of them filed as class actions:
- 33.2% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 19.2% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 33.2% and 52.3%.
- 5.9% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 90 reached a trial (1.1%), after a median of 27.4 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 8.5 months.
- Only 236 of them (1.6%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $496,000.

Three Things to Watch For
A real settlement with a sensitive patient list attracts imitators:
Look-alike claim sites
The only official site is LSCDataSettlement.com, and the official toll-free number is 1-844-933-4334. Claims are free. A page charging a fee or asking for card details to “release your payment” is not the administrator.
Messages that mention your test results
The leaked data included medical and insurance details, so a scammer may sound informed. The administrator will not threaten to reveal health information or demand payment. Treat any message like that as extortion or phishing.
“Claim from the $1.8 billion case”
The Texas Medicaid fraud suit is a government case. Patients have no claim in it and there is no claim form. Anyone offering to file you into it is not legitimate.
Planned Parenthood Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Planned Parenthood class action settlement I can claim from right now?
Yes, one: the Laboratory Services Cooperative data breach settlement, $6.1 million, claim deadline November 24, 2026. The defendant is the lab that served Planned Parenthood health centers, not Planned Parenthood itself.
How do I know if I'm included?

How much will I get?
Documented losses up to $5,000, or a pro rata cash payment of up to $1,000 that will probably be lower, plus two years of monitoring. Exact amounts depend on how many people file.

Is the LSC settlement letter or email real?
The court-appointed administrator is Angeion Group, the official site is LSCDataSettlement.com and the toll-free number is 1-844-933-4334. Check any message against those rather than clicking its links.

That $6 million settlement over a 2021 ransomware attack received final approval in 2024. The claim deadline was June 7, 2024, so it is closed to new claims.
What is the $1.8 billion Planned Parenthood lawsuit?

It does not pay patients.

Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
