What the Pixel Lawsuit Says Happened
According to the complaint, Northwell put tracking tools such as Meta Pixel and Google Analytics code on its website. The lawsuit alleges they were set up so that health-related details, including the type and date of a medical appointment, went to third parties with identifiers like a Facebook ID and IP address. No patient consent was given, the suit says.
The plaintiffs pleaded breach of fiduciary duty and confidentiality, breach of implied contract, unjust enrichment, negligence, invasion of privacy under the New York Civil Rights Law, New York deceptive-practices claims and violations of the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act. Northwell denies all of it. It had moved to dismiss the case and settled before that motion was argued.

Case Details
Kaplan v. Northwell Health, Inc., Case No. 520763/2025, Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Kings (360 Adams Street, Brooklyn). This is a state court, not a federal one. The settlement administrator’s website is NWPixelSettlement.com.
The data breach case is a separate federal matter: In re: Perry Johnson & Associates Medical Transcription Data Security Breach Litigation, MDL No. 3096, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York before Judge Rachel P. Kovner. It includes early Northwell suits such as Mayo v. Northwell Health, No. 2:23-cv-08517.
Status: Approved, Appealed, Claims Closed
The court held the fairness hearing on April 21, 2026 and issued the Final Approval Order on April 23, 2026. Someone then filed a notice of appeal. As of October 8, 2026, the official site says it will update when the appeal is resolved. We found no ruling on that appeal.
The administrator’s FAQ says approved claims are paid only after all appeals are completed. If you filed, you do not need to do anything else.
Who Is in the Northwell Health Class Action
Subclass 1: Northwell patients who logged into the FollowMyHealth portal, or booked an appointment on northwell.edu, between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023.
Subclass 2: all other Northwell patients between January 1, 2020 and July 25, 2024.
Northwell’s officers and directors, its lawyers and the judges on the case are excluded. To file a claim you needed the Notice ID and PIN from the notice you were sent. If you are unsure whether you filed, ask the administrator at (833) 360-6887.
Our form asks whether you used the website or the portal, what you did there, and when you last used it. Your answers help us show you which tracking settlements may match your history.
What the Northwell Health Settlement Pays
Attorneys’ fees are paid separately by Northwell, not out of class members’ payments. Class counsel could ask for up to $5,250,000, and each class representative for up to $3,000. Payment is by check unless you chose electronic payment. Checks become void 180 days after they are issued, so cash yours once it arrives.
For the Perry Johnson breach there is no settlement, no fund and no claim form. To see what comparable cases have paid, use the MyChart settlement calculator or the data breach settlement calculator.

Three Things to Watch For
A finished settlement, an unresolved appeal and a separate breach case leave plenty of room for confusion:
“Late claim” or “reopened” Northwell pixel offers
The claim deadline was April 20, 2026 and has not been reopened. A site offering to take a Northwell pixel claim now is not the administrator. The only official site is NWPixelSettlement.com.
“Pay a fee to release your payment”
Payments are on hold because of the appeal, not because of anything you owe. Northwell pays the attorneys’ fees separately. A real administrator never asks for a fee, bank login or your Notice PIN by phone.
“Claim your Northwell data breach settlement”
There is no Northwell Health data breach settlement for the Perry Johnson incident yet. MDL 3096 has no fund and no claim form. Pages collecting Social Security numbers for it are harvesting data.
Northwell Health Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Northwell Health class action lawsuit right now?
Yes, two. Kaplan v. Northwell Health (Kings County, No. 520763/2025) is the tracking-pixel case. It has settled and is on appeal. The Perry Johnson & Associates breach is MDL 3096 in the Eastern District of New York. As of October 8, 2026, it is pending with no settlement.
Is there a Northwell Health MyChart lawsuit?
Not under that name. The settlement covers Northwell’s FollowMyHealth patient portal and appointment booking on northwell.edu between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2023. If you searched for MyChart, the pixel settlement is most likely the case you mean.
Can I still file a claim in the Northwell Health settlement?
No. The claim deadline was April 20, 2026. The opt-out and objection deadline was March 23, 2026. If you did nothing, you get nothing, and you have given up the claims the settlement resolved.
When will Northwell settlement payments go out?
Not until the appeal of the April 23, 2026 Final Approval Order is resolved. The administrator’s FAQ says approved claims are paid after all appeals are completed. We found no date for that, so we will not guess.
How much will I get?
$15 plus 12 months of privacy monitoring if you filed in Subclass 1. Privacy monitoring only if you filed in Subclass 2. The amounts are fixed, and attorneys’ fees do not reduce them.
What about the Northwell Health data breach?
The 2023 Perry Johnson & Associates transcription breach exposed names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, admission diagnoses and dates of service. A Northwell draft statement put the count at 3,891,565 but was later retracted. The federal court in Brooklyn records an estimated four million Northwell patients. There is no settlement or claim form.
Are there other Northwell lawsuits?
Yes. Employees sued over the 403(b) retirement plan in Gonzalez v. Northwell Health (E.D.N.Y. 1:20-cv-03256). They alleged excessive fees and underperforming funds in a $5.6 billion plan. A magistrate judge recommended preliminary approval of a $2.75 million settlement. We could not confirm final approval.
Is my settlement email or letter real?
A real notice comes from the administrator for NWPixelSettlement.com: PO Box 25232, Santa Ana, CA 92799, (833) 360-6887. Check any message against those details. Do not call the court or Northwell about the settlement.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
