What the LifeBridge Health Data Breach Lawsuit Said
LifeBridge Health runs Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, Grace Medical Center and Levindale. According to HIPAA Journal, a hacker intermittently accessed LifeBridge computer systems between August 27, 2024 and September 21, 2024. The settlement agreement says LifeBridge discovered the incident on or about November 12, 2024. Patients were notified on April 1, 2025.
Per trade reports, the data that may have been accessed included names, dates of birth, addresses, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers and, for some patients, limited treatment or insurance information. The lawsuit alleged negligence, breach of implied contract and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. LifeBridge denies any wrongdoing, and no court found that it did anything wrong.
Case Details
The 2024 breach case: Anthony K. Ragin v. LifeBridge Health, Inc., Case No. C-03-CV-25-001661, in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland. This is a state court, not a federal one. The complaint was filed April 10, 2025, and the settlement agreement is dated September 23, 2025. The administrator is CPT Group, and the official site is lifebridgedatasettlement.com.
The earlier LifeBridge Health class action lawsuit: Johnson, et al. v. LifeBridge Health Inc., Case No. 24-C-18-006801, in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. It covered a malware intrusion that began in September 2016 and was found in March 2018. LifeBridge reported that the records of 582,174 patients were potentially exposed. That case settled in 2022 and closed long ago.
Status: Settled, Claims Closed, No Tracking Case
Tracking: As of October 8, 2026, we found no LifeBridge Health class action over Meta Pixel, Google Analytics or similar tracking on its website or patient portal. We found no settlement, fund or claim form for tracking either.
Oracle Health/Cerner breach: LifeBridge says Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) is a records vendor it uses. Oracle gave LifeBridge a list of affected patients on September 19, 2025. The claims are against Oracle, in a federal case in the Western District of Missouri, where Judge Beth Phillips let the negligence claim go forward. We found no settlement there. See our Oracle Health data breach lawsuit page.
Are You Part of a LifeBridge Health Settlement?
Ragin (2024 hack): The class was everyone whose information was potentially involved in the incident discovered in November 2024. LifeBridge mailed notice letters to those patients. If you got that letter and filed a claim by February 28, 2026, you are in line for payment. If you did nothing, you get no payment and you can no longer sue over the same claims.
Oracle letter (2025): A letter about the Oracle Health/Cerner incident belongs to a different case. Keep it, because it is your proof if that case ever settles.
Website or portal use: No tracking case exists for LifeBridge, so there is nothing to join. Our form asks whether you used the LifeBridge website or patient portal, what you did there and when you last used it. That helps match you to a case if one is filed.
What the LifeBridge Health Settlement Pays
Cash Payment A: up to $5,000 for documented losses tied to the incident.
Cash Payment B: a flat pro rata payment, nominally $100. It rises or falls with the number of valid claims, and everyone with a valid claim gets it, including people who also claimed under A.
Under the agreement, LifeBridge pays the remaining $525,000 into escrow within seven days after the Effective Date. Payments go out electronically or by paper check. For the 2016–2018 breach, the Johnson deal was valued at $9.475 million in total: an $800,000 claims fund, $7.9 million in security spending and $775,000 in legal fees. Three Things to Watch For
LifeBridge patients may have gotten three different letters in two years, which makes it easy for imposters to confuse people:
“Late claim” offers for the $575,000 settlement
The claim deadline was February 28, 2026. Anyone offering to file a Ragin claim for you now, especially for a fee, cannot do it. Only CPT Group and lifebridgedatasettlement.com handle this settlement.
“LifeBridge MyChart settlement” sign-ups
No LifeBridge tracking case exists that we could find. A site that asks for your Social Security number or portal login to “claim” a LifeBridge pixel payout is collecting data, not filing a claim.
Calls about your facility-fee refund
Maryland’s Attorney General said eligible patients would get refund checks from LifeBridge. If unsure, call the Attorney General’s office at 410-576-6571 rather than a number a caller gives you.
