What the Venue Fee Settlement Is About
If you bought food, drinks or other items from Aramark's concessions at Capital One Arena between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025, a 3% “venue fee” was added at the register. The lawsuit alleges that Aramark did not properly disclose that fee, in violation of the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Procedures Act. The complaint quotes Aramark's own wording that the fee “is not a tip or gratuity” and that none of it goes to staff.
Aramark denies any wrongdoing and says it settled only to avoid the cost and uncertainty of litigation. The case background, the fee itself and what it means for fans are on our Capital One Arena Aramark settlement page. This page answers one narrower question: is the venue fee settlement email, website or claim form real?
Case details
The case is Alexander Garner v. Aramark Management Services LP, Case No. 2025 CAB 007444, in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Civil Division. It was first filed under the caption Travelers United, Inc. v. Aramark Management Services LP, with the same case number. This is a local D.C. court, not a federal court.
On September 14, 2026, Associate Judge Shana Frost Matini granted preliminary approval, approved the notice under Superior Court Rule 23(e), and appointed Eisner Amper as settlement administrator. The official site's copyright line names Eisner Advisory Group LLC. Class counsel are Tycko & Zavareei LLP and Almeida Law Group LLC; Aramark is represented by Morgan Lewis.
Status: Settled, Claims Open Until December 4, 2026
The order directed that notice be made by email by October 5, 2026, using a class list with last known email addresses supplied by Aramark. So an email about the venue fee settlement around early October 2026 matches what the court ordered. That timing is a good sign, not proof. Proof is whether the email's details match the court documents.
Don't miss the claim deadline
Claims are due by December 4, 2026. We'll email you 7 days and 1 day before the deadline.
How to Verify the Email or Letter
People searching “is venue fee settlement legit” mostly have one email in front of them. Check it against these points from the court-approved documents:
1. The case name and number. A real notice names Alexander Garner v. Aramark Management Services LP, Case No. 2025 CAB 007444, and says it was authorized by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
2. The contact details. The administrator is the Venue Fee Settlement Administrator, PO Box 1268, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, phone (844) 659-2531, email info@VenueFeeSettlement.com. A different phone number or mailing address is a warning sign.
3. The wording. The real email says “You are not being sued. This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.” It gives a unique Settlement Claim ID.
4. The website. Type venuefeesettlement.com into your browser yourself instead of clicking. The official “Submit a Claim” button sends you to venuefeesettlement.pnclassaction.com. That is the administrator's claim portal, not a copycat.
Who is in the class: anyone in the United States who bought from Aramark at Capital One Arena and paid the venue fee between October 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025.
What It Pays and How
You choose how to be paid: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, direct deposit or paper check. Direct deposit, PayPal and Venmo work only if you file online. No payment happens before final approval. Under the settlement agreement, payments go out no later than 14 days after the Effective Date. That date is one business day after final approval, or later, 31 days after approval or after any appeal ends, if someone objects. Leftover money goes to Public Justice, not back to Aramark.

Three Things to Watch For
The real site is easy to verify. The traps sit around it:
Look-alike “claim now” pages
Search results are full of third-party pages about the venue fee settlement. The only places to file are venuefeesettlement.com, its pnclassaction.com claim portal, or the mail-in form sent to PO Box 1268. Filing is free, and the paper claim form does not ask for a Social Security number.
Fake emails that change the payment details
Since the real notice arrived by email, a copycat email is the obvious trick. Look for a different phone number than (844) 659-2531, or a request to “confirm” bank details by reply. Bank or app details go only into the claim form on the official site.
Capital One bank confusion
This settlement is against Aramark, the arena's concessions operator. It has nothing to do with Capital One the bank or your credit card. A caller who says you need to verify a Capital One account to get your share is running a scam.
Venue Fee Settlement — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
Is venue fee settlement legit?
Yes. venuefeesettlement.com is the court-approved website for Garner v. Aramark Management Services LP, No. 2025 CAB 007444, in D.C. Superior Court. The preliminary approval order of September 14, 2026 appoints Eisner Amper as administrator, and the site posts that order, the settlement agreement and the complaint.
How to know if a settlement is real?
Match three things against court documents: the case name and number, the court, and the administrator's contact details. For this one, the notice should say D.C. Superior Court, No. 2025 CAB 007444, and give (844) 659-2531. A real notice never charges you a fee to file. Here, lawyers' fees come out of the fund only if the court approves them.
Do you actually get money from the venue fee settlement?
Only if you file a valid claim by December 4, 2026 and the court grants final approval. The hearing is set for January 15, 2027. People who do nothing get no payment but are still bound by the release.
How much will I get?
Nobody knows yet. It is a pro rata share of what is left of $4,500,000 after court-approved fees, a service award of up to $5,000 and administration costs. The more claims are filed, the smaller each share.
Do I need a receipt or my Claim ID?
No receipt is needed, according to local reporting by WJLA. You sign the claim under penalty of perjury that you paid the fee, and the administrator can check claims against Aramark's class list. The claim form has a field for the Claimant ID from your notice. It marks name, address and email as required but does not label the ID field that way.
I paid with Capital One — is this about my card?
No. Capital One Arena is the venue's name. The defendant is Aramark, which runs the arena's food and drink concessions. The card you paid with doesn't matter.
Should I call the court?
No. The official site asks people not to contact the court, the judge or the clerk with questions. Use the administrator at (844) 659-2531 or info@VenueFeeSettlement.com.
What if I don't want to be part of it?
Send a written opt-out to the administrator at PO Box 1268, Baton Rouge, LA 70821, postmarked by December 4, 2026. You would get no payment but keep the right to sue Aramark yourself. Objections, including to the fee request, also have to be filed with the court by that date.
