boohoo Settlement: The $10 Gift Card Deals Are Closed

The boohoo settlement people still search for is the fake-discount case over boohoo, boohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal. It was two settlements, and both are finished: California in 2022, everyone else in 2023. The benefit was a $10 gift card with free shipping, sent by email — not cash. As of October 2026 there is no open boohoo settlement, no claim form and no deadline.

What the boohoo Class Action Was About
The boohoo class action targeted the crossed-out “original” prices on the brands’ US websites. The plaintiffs alleged those reference prices were rarely, if ever, charged, because items were discounted on a near-daily basis by sitewide promotions such as “50% Off Everything”.
According to the complaints, shoppers were led to believe they were getting a deep discount when they were not, and bought items they would not have bought or paid more than they otherwise would have.
boohoo denied the allegations and settled without admission of liability. No court found that the pricing was deceptive.
Case Details
Both cases were in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, under judge initials GW.
California purchasers: Khan v. Boohoo.com USA Inc., No. 2:20-cv-03332, filed April 9, 2020, together with Hilton v. Prettylittlething.com USA Inc., No. 2:20-cv-004658, and Lee v. NastyGal.com USA, Inc., No. 2:20-cv-004659.
Everyone else in the US: Habberfield v. Boohoo.com USA Inc., No. 2:22-cv-03899-GW-JEM, filed in June 2022. The settlement administrator was Kurtzman Carson Consultants (KCC); see our guide to that administrator.
Status: Both US Settlements Closed
As of October 2026 there is no open boohoo settlement, no claim form and no deadline to meet.
Newer boohoo lawsuit activity is different: a UK investor claim worth a reported £245 million, and a federal case in Washington, Hansen v. Boohoo.com USA Inc., No. 2:26-cv-01778. Neither offers anything to shoppers today (details in the FAQ).
Who Was in the Two Classes
California: anyone in California who bought on the boohoo website since April 9, 2016, on PrettyLittleThing since May 19, 2016, or on Nasty Gal since March 1, 2017.
All other states: purchases outside California on boohoo or boohooMAN and PrettyLittleThing from April 1, 2016 through June 17, 2022, and on Nasty Gal from February 28, 2017 through June 17, 2022. No proof of purchase was required.
Nobody had to sign up. Class members who did not opt out were sent the gift card automatically to the email address on file with the retailer.
What the boohoo Settlement Actually Paid
The headline $197 million was a potential value if every eligible person used a card — more than 9.4 million people and over 11.3 million cards. It was never a cash fund. The California deal was described as worth up to $4.75 million.
The cash went elsewhere: per the final agreement, $3 million in attorney fees, $1 million to the administrator and $1,000 to each named plaintiff. The company also agreed to state on product pages that its reference prices are not former prices.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 24,037 other fraud casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2025, 27.4% of them filed as class actions:
- 17.3% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 22.5% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 17.3% and 39.8%.
- 10.4% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 111 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 30 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 7 months.
- Only 735 of them (3.1%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $663,000.

Three Things to Watch For
An old settlement still listed as “open” is an easy hook:
“Claim your boohoo $197M payout”
There never was a cash payout, and the claim period is closed. A page asking for your card number or a fee to “release” boohoo settlement money is not connected to the case.
Fake gift card emails
The real cards arrived by email, so lookalike messages are believable. Do not log in through a link; open the brand’s site yourself and check your account. A real settlement card never asked for a password or payment.
“Join the new boohoo class action” ads
The 2026 boohoo lawsuit headlines are about a UK investor claim and a Washington case with no class or settlement for shoppers. There is nothing to register for.
boohoo Settlement — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there an open boohoo settlement I can file a claim in?
No. As of October 2026 both US settlements are closed. The California deadline was November 28, 2022 and the nationwide deadline was September 15, 2023. Neither ever required a claim form.
How much did the boohoo class action pay?
A $10 gift card with free shipping for each brand website you bought from — valued at $17.45 per card nationwide and $17.28 in California. No cash was paid to shoppers.
Was the boohoo settlement really $197 million?
Only on paper. $197 million was the potential value if every eligible person used a card. boohoo was not paying a $197 million cash sum.
I never got my gift card. Can I still get it?
Cards were sent automatically to the email on file with the retailer. The official site was BoohooNationwidePricingSettlement.com; contacting the administrator is the only route, and there is no new claim window.
Which brands were covered?
boohoo, boohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing and Nasty Gal, for purchases on their US websites during the class periods.
What is the 2026 boohoo lawsuit in the news?
Mostly a UK High Court claim by institutional investors, first brought in 2024. They allege the company made misleading statements about its Leicester supply chain between January 2017 and September 2020, before an approximately 42% share-price fall in July 2020. In July 2026, 11 more investors joined, taking the reported claim to £245 million. boohoo contests it; the first trial is expected in October 2027. Shoppers have no part in it.
What is Hansen v. Boohoo.com USA?
A case removed to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on July 16, 2026, No. 2:26-cv-01778, before Judge Jamal N. Whitehead. The public docket lists it as “Other Fraud” but does not describe the claims. Briefing on a motion to dismiss was due by August 3, 2026. There is no settlement.
Is there a boohoo case in Canada?
A proposed class action over the same reference-pricing practice has been filed in British Columbia and Quebec. We found no settlement or court approval as of October 2026. The US gift card deals did not cover Canadian shoppers.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
