Lennar Lawsuit: Two 2026 Data Breaches, Nine Class Actions, No Settlement

The Lennar lawsuit in the news is about data, not houses. Lennar Corporation and its mortgage arm, Lennar Mortgage, disclosed two separate social-engineering intrusions in August 2026, and nine class actions followed in Miami federal court within two weeks. By early September, four of them had been transferred to the chief judge who has the first. There is no Lennar settlement, no claim form and no deadline — the only thing on offer is two years of free Kroll identity monitoring.

What the Lawsuits Say Happened
Lennar's notice letters describe two events. In the first, an unauthorized party used “sophisticated social engineering tactics” to get into Lennar Corporation systems between March 24 and March 30, 2026; the review of what was taken ended July 30, 2026. In the second, the same kind of attack reached Lennar Mortgage between May 26 and June 1, 2026; that review ended August 4, 2026. Lennar says the two were separate and, it believes, unrelated, and that it is not aware of any misuse.
The data listed in the Lennar Mortgage notice: names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, passport or other government ID, driver's license or state ID, and financial account information — plus medical-related information for “a very small number” of people. For a borrower, that is most of a loan file.
The complaints allege that Lennar failed to train staff against phishing and social engineering, kept customer and employee data longer than it needed, and waited too long to warn people — one complaint says notice came almost four months after the first intrusion began. They plead negligence, negligence per se, breach of implied contract and unjust enrichment. These are allegations; no court has ruled on them.
Case Details
Between August 14 and August 28, 2026, nine class actions naming Lennar Corporation and/or Lennar Mortgage, LLC were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. The first and lead case is Ramkissoon v. Lennar Corporation, No. 1:26-cv-25518, before Chief Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga. The others: Stewart (1:26-cv-25529), DiMeglio (1:26-cv-25575), Gordon (9:26-cv-81016), Sharrard (1:26-cv-25616), David (1:26-cv-25731), Bensfield (1:26-cv-25763), Smedick v. Lennar Mortgage (1:26-cv-25820) and Todd (1:26-cv-25939).
On August 24 the chief judge refused to consolidate cases that were not yet before her. Stewart, David, Gordon and DiMeglio were then transferred to her and closed as separate dockets between August 27 and August 31. A renewed request to appoint interim co-lead counsel was denied without prejudice on September 2, because no defendant had appeared yet. Lennar's lawyers appeared on September 8. A tenth case, Evans v. Lennar Corporation, appears on CourtListener in the Western District of Virginia; we could not see its complaint.
Status: Early Pretrial, No Settlement
The usual path from here is one consolidated complaint, a motion to dismiss, discovery and sometimes a mediated settlement — which then needs court approval, notice and a claims window before anyone is paid. In comparable breach cases that has taken years, not months.

Who Is Affected
The complaints seek a nationwide class of everyone whose information was exposed in the Lennar data breach: homebuyers, Lennar Mortgage borrowers and applicants, and employees. You do not sign up for a class action; if a class is certified or a settlement is reached, a court-appointed administrator contacts class members.
How many people? Lennar has not published a national total. The Texas Attorney General's registry lists 769 Texans for Lennar Corporation and 60,526 for Lennar Mortgage — together 61,295, the figure one complaint cites. National Mortgage News reported 6,643 people for the March incident and a figure of 348,416 that one plaintiff attributes to Lennar Mortgage's original report; we could not find that number on any state registry.
The practical test is your mail. Notice letters went out from mid-August 2026. Keep yours: it lists which of your data was involved and it is your proof of class membership later.
Is There Any Money?
What you can get today is the free Kroll identity monitoring in your letter. Lennar Mortgage's notice gives November 20, 2026 as the activation deadline; the Lennar Corporation letter prints its own deadline. If the cases settle, data-breach settlements typically pay documented losses against receipts plus a smaller flat amount — our data breach settlement calculator shows how that usually works.

September 8, 2026 Onward — Lennar Appears, No Settlement
Lennar's counsel appears and asks for more time to respond. As of our September 9, 2026 docket review there was no settlement, no claim form and no deadline, and we have found no report of one since.
Three Things to Watch For
Lennar settlement searches are already turning up pages that look like claim portals. Know these three:
“File your Lennar settlement claim” sites
There is no court-authorized Lennar settlement website, claim number or deadline. A page asking for your Social Security number or a fee to “register” is not the court, not Lennar and not any of the law firms in the case.
Calls about your mortgage “after the breach”
The stolen data looks like a loan file, so a caller can sound like your lender. Lennar Mortgage's real breach line is (844) 958-8939; Lennar Corporation's is (844) 958-8940. Hang up and call the number in your letter.

Lennar Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
What is the Lennar lawsuit about?
The class actions in the news concern two 2026 data breaches at Lennar Corporation and Lennar Mortgage, both carried out through social engineering. The lawsuits allege Lennar failed to protect customers' and employees' personal and financial data and notified them too late.
Is there a Lennar settlement or claim form?
No. As of our September 9, 2026 docket review the cases were in early pretrial proceedings in the Southern District of Florida, and we have found no report of a settlement since. There is no settlement, no fund, no administrator, no claim form and no deadline. If that changes, class members are notified directly.
Was my data in the Lennar data breach?
If you were affected, Lennar should have mailed you a notice from mid-August 2026 listing which data was involved. Lennar Mortgage's notice covers names, contact details, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, ID numbers and financial account information. Questions: (844) 958-8939 for Lennar Mortgage, (844) 958-8940 for Lennar Corporation.
How many people were affected?
Lennar has not published a national total. Texas alone counts 61,295 residents across both incidents (769 plus 60,526). Higher figures circulating online have not been confirmed on a state registry.
Do I have to join the lawsuit to get money later?
No. If a class is certified or a settlement is approved, you are included unless you opt out. Hiring a lawyer is a separate, real choice — read any agreement before signing.
Should I sign up for the Kroll monitoring?
It is free. Lennar Mortgage's letter sets an activation deadline of November 20, 2026; use the membership number in your own letter.
Is this the same as Lennar construction defect lawsuits?
No. Lennar's SEC filings say it faces various claims in the ordinary course of business, including construction defects and warranty claims. Those are separate disputes, mostly brought by individual homeowners or associations. The data breach cases are not about your house.
What is worth doing right now?
Activate the Kroll monitoring before your letter's deadline, freeze your credit at all three bureaus, keep the notice letter, and save records of any fraud or time spent dealing with it. If you are mid-mortgage, note that a freeze can delay a new credit check until you lift it.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
