Flagstar Settlement Payout Date: Approved, Not Yet Paying

Questions about this case?

AI Legal Assistant · free · answers in seconds · general information, not legal advice

As of October 12, 2026, no Flagstar settlement payout date has been announced. The court granted final approval on October 5, 2026. Under the settlement agreement, nobody can be paid before the “Effective Date,” which comes only after the time to appeal has run out. This page covers only the payment. For the case itself, see our Flagstar data breach settlement page.

Independent information service: Settlement Insight is not the settlement administrator, is not affiliated with or endorsed by the company named above, and is not a law firm. Submitting this form does not file a claim — it shares your information with our participating legal intake partners, who may contact you about your options.

Where the Payment Stands

Last confirmed step: on October 5, 2026, Judge Matthew F. Leitman signed the Final Approval Order and Judgment (ECF No. 137). He overruled all four objections, approved the deal and dismissed the case.

Flagstar has made a payment to the administrator. In its June 2026 quarterly report, Flagstar told the SEC that on April 1, 2026 it made payment to the settlement administrator as the scheduling order required. The filing does not state the amount. The wait is about legal finality and claim review.

What the official site says about timing: payments go out “as soon as possible if the Court grants final approval of the Settlement and after any appeals are resolved.” It warns that appeals can take “perhaps more than a year.”

Case Details

Angus, et al. v. Flagstar Bank, N.A., No. 2:21-cv-10657-MFL-DRG, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Judge Matthew F. Leitman. Final Approval Order and Judgment entered October 5, 2026. The court kept jurisdiction over carrying out the settlement and ordered the administrator to pay “in accordance with the amounts and the times set forth in the Settlement Agreement.”

The official settlement website is flagstarsettlement.com. The final approval order is posted there.

Separate case: Flagstar is also a defendant in the MOVEit MDL (No. 1:23-md-03083, District of Massachusetts). That case is stayed as to Flagstar and pays nothing under this settlement.

Status: Approved, Waiting for the Effective Date

Approved, claims closed, not yet paying — as of October 12, 2026. Here is what still has to happen before money goes out, in the order the documents set:

1. The appeal window closes. A notice of appeal in a federal civil case must be filed within 30 days after entry of judgment (Federal Rule of Appellate Procedure 4). Counting from October 5, 2026, that window runs to November 4, 2026. If someone appeals, payment waits until the appeal is resolved.

2. The Effective Date. The agreement defines it as the first business day after the judgment becomes final. Attorneys’ fees and service awards are paid within 14 days of that date.

3. Claim review finishes. Payments go out “as soon as practicable after the Effective Date,” after any deficiency process and claim disputes, “but in no event prior to the Effective Date.”

The agreement sets no fixed number of days between the Effective Date and payment. So any specific payout date you see online is a guess unless it comes from the administrator.

Who Gets Paid — and Who Doesn't

No one is paid automatically. Only people who filed a valid claim by the August 11, 2026 deadline, and whose claim the administrator approves, get money. The official FAQ says: “If you do nothing you will not get any money from this Settlement.” The 48 people who opted out get nothing and are not bound.

If your claim was incomplete, the administrator must notify you by email, or by mail if you gave no email address, and give you 21 days to fix it. Watch your inbox and spam folder for messages from the settlement administrator (the listed address is info@FlagstarSettlement.com).

Credit monitoring (by IDX) is not a payment. People who chose it receive enrollment instructions by email.

Flagstar Settlement Amount: What Is Known, What Is Estimated

Paid so far: nothing to class members. No per-person payout has been published.

Caps set by the settlement (confirmed): up to $25,000 for documented losses, up to $100 California statutory payment, and a Residual Cash Payment capped at $599.

Estimate, not a promise: class counsel estimated the Residual Cash Payment at “approximately $60 based on expected claims rates, but this amount could be higher or lower.” It is paid pro rata from what is left of the $31,500,000 fund. That is after $10,500,000 in fees, $311,690.80 in costs, service awards, administration, credit monitoring, loss claims and California payments. The administrator has not published how many claims were filed. That number decides the real amount.

So the honest answer to “flagstar settlement how much will i get” is: your documented losses if approved (up to the cap), plus a cash share no one can calculate yet.

How cases like this one end

Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 118,291 other personal injury casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 3.9% of them filed as class actions:

  • •39.6% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 14% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 39.6% and 53.6%.
  • •5.7% were decided on a motion before any trial.
  • •1 in 109 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 23.9 months.
  • •Median time from filing to the end of the case: 9 months.
  • •Only 802 of them (0.7%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $537,500.

These are base rates for this type of case (federal other personal injury cases) — not a prediction about this lawsuit, and not legal advice. Source: Federal Judicial Center, Integrated Database (civil), analysed by Settlement Insight. Cases heard in state courts are not included.

Is That Flagstar Payment Email Real?

Approval news brings fake “your payment is ready” messages. Check against these three:

“Pay a fee to release your Flagstar payment”

Settlement costs come out of the fund itself. The administrator does not charge you to get paid. Real contact details are 1-855-542-0397, info@FlagstarSettlement.com and P.O. Box 4427, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.

Calls or texts claiming to be Flagstar Bank

The settlement is run by the administrator, not by the bank. The official site says not to contact the court, the judge or Flagstar about it. A caller asking for your bank login or full Social Security number is not processing your claim.

“Claim now” links after August 11

The claim deadline was August 11, 2026. Any site still taking Flagstar claims or “late registrations” is collecting your data. Type flagstarsettlement.com yourself instead of clicking a link.

Flagstar Payout — Questions People Actually Ask

What is the Flagstar settlement payout date?

As of October 12, 2026, none has been announced. Final approval came on October 5, 2026. Payments cannot be made before the Effective Date, which follows the end of the appeal window (November 4, 2026, if no one appeals). Then claim review must finish.

Flagstar settlement how much will I get?

Approved documented losses up to $25,000, California residents up to $100, and a pro rata Residual Cash Payment capped at $599. Class counsel estimated about $60, but that depends on how many claims were filed, and that figure has not been published.

How long does it take to get money from a class action lawsuit?

Here it depends on appeals. The official FAQ says payment comes after final approval and after any appeals are resolved, which “can take time, perhaps more than a year.” If no appeal is filed, the earliest step is the Effective Date after November 4, 2026.

Will I be paid by check or electronically?

The agreement says payments are issued as “a check mailed and/or an electronic payment.” The published documents do not name specific apps or card options. The choices shown on your claim form are what applies to you.

My Flagstar check expired or never came. What now?

Settlement checks expire 90 days after issue. Uncashed checks lead to a contact attempt and a reissued check or postcard. Undeliverable checks are resent within 30 days once a new address is found. Replacement checks are valid for 60 days. Call 1-855-542-0397 well before the date on the check. See also our guide to settlement check problems.

What happens to money nobody cashes?

After 150 days from distribution, or 30 days after reissued checks expire, whichever is later, leftover money buys extra credit monitoring for those who chose it. If too little is left for that, it goes to a cy pres recipient that the court has not yet named. The agreement does not provide for a second cash round.

How do I check my claim status?

Contact the administrator: 1-855-542-0397, info@FlagstarSettlement.com, or Flagstar Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 4427, Baton Rouge, LA 70821. Have your Unique Class Member ID ready. The court and Flagstar Bank cannot answer settlement questions.

How do I talk to a person at Flagstar Bank?

For this settlement, don’t. The official site says not to contact Flagstar Bank about it, because the administrator handles all claims and payments. For an ordinary banking issue, use the customer service number on your statement or card. This page cannot help with account matters.

This page is for general information only and is not legal advice. Lawsuit status, eligibility, and compensation can change. Settlement Insight is not a law firm and does not represent any party. Consult a licensed attorney about your specific situation.
