Is the Brown v Progressive Settlement Check Legit?
Yes — a brown v progressive settlement check is a real payment from a court-approved $43,000,000 settlement of Georgia total-loss claims against Progressive Mountain Insurance Company and Progressive Premier Insurance Company of Illinois. The court appointed Epiq as Settlement Administrator on February 18, 2025.
The only official website is GATotalLossClaim.com. The administrator’s contact details listed there are: toll-free 1-888-604-7469, email info@GATotalLossClaim.com, and mail to Brown v. Progressive Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 4178, Portland, OR 97208-4178. A payment notice, email or call that points you anywhere else deserves a second look.
Case Details
The payment comes from Brown v. Progressive Mountain Ins. Co. and Bost v. Progressive Premier Ins. Co. of Illinois, Consolidated Case No. 3:21-cv-00175-TCB in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, before Judge Timothy C. Batten Sr. The order granting final approval is Document 251, filed May 15, 2025. Under the settlement agreement, the judgment becomes final once thirty days pass from final approval with no appeal filed, or once any appeal ends in affirmance.
Status: Paid in September 2025, No New Round Announced
As of October 12, 2026 the official site lists no second distribution, no reminder deadline and no check-cashing deadline. A third-party copy of the court docket (CourtListener, data through late September 2026) lists the final approval order as the latest filing; we could not check the live docket. If a later round is announced, it will appear on GATotalLossClaim.com first.
Who Got Paid Automatically
Everyone in the two Georgia settlement classes who did not opt out by April 30, 2025 was paid automatically. The official site says: “Class Members were not required to provide a Claim Form in this matter.” Progressive supplied the names and addresses, and Epiq identified 151,485 unique class members.
So there is nothing to file now, and there never was. If you opted out, you get no payment. If you were never a Georgia Progressive policyholder with a total-loss claim, a Progressive payment you received is not from this settlement — the class rules are on our case page.
How Much the Brown v Progressive Settlement Payment Was
Amounts are not equal. Court filings describe a pro rata distribution “tailored to the value of their loss vehicle,” so a more valuable totaled car meant a larger share. The notice each person received on March 31, 2025 included their own estimated award. The administrator has not published actual paid amounts, so there is no confirmed “typical” check beyond that estimate.
How it was paid: by check to your address on file with Progressive, unless you chose an electronic option on the settlement website — PayPal, Venmo or direct deposit. That choice is why some people searched for a “reminder for electronic payment”: the notice invited class members to switch from a paper check.

Three Things to Watch For
Real Brown v Progressive payments needed no claim and no fee. These are the traps around them:
“Claim your Brown v Progressive check” forms
There was never a claim form in this settlement. A site asking for your Social Security number or bank login to “release” your payment is not the administrator.
Payment emails from the wrong domain
Genuine messages point to GATotalLossClaim.com and use info@GATotalLossClaim.com. A “reminder for electronic payment” that links to another site, asks for a fee or rushes you should be checked by calling 1-888-604-7469 yourself.
Calls offering to recover a lost check for a cut
Replacing a check or updating your address is handled by the administrator at no cost. Nobody needs a percentage of your award to make that call for you.
Brown v Progressive Settlement Check — Questions People Ask
Is the brown v progressive settlement check legit?
Yes. It is a payment from the court-approved $43,000,000 settlement in Case No. 3:21-cv-00175-TCB, administered by Epiq. The official site, GATotalLossClaim.com, says awards were sent on September 4, 2025. If in doubt, call the administrator at 1-888-604-7469 using the number from the official site, not one printed in a message you received.
I got a brown vs progressive settlement check in mail — why?
Because Progressive’s records placed you in one of the two Georgia total-loss settlement classes and you did not opt out. Payment was automatic. The check went to your address on file with Progressive unless you had chosen PayPal, Venmo or direct deposit.
Do you actually get money from this class action settlement — how much?
Yes, payments went out in September 2025. The notice estimated an average of about $173.00 per person, but shares were pro rata based on the value of each totaled vehicle. Your personal estimate was in the notice sent March 31, 2025. Actual paid amounts have not been published.
When was the brown v progressive settlement payment sent?
The official site says September 4, 2025 in its status text and September 5, 2025 in its date list. Either way, the payout happened in early September 2025.
I never got my payment or my check expired. What now?
Contact the administrator: 1-888-604-7469, info@GATotalLossClaim.com, or Brown v. Progressive Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 4178, Portland, OR 97208-4178. Include your name and return address. The official site does not state how long the checks stay valid, so ask about reissue as soon as possible rather than assuming you have time.
Will there be a second Brown v Progressive payment?
None has been announced as of October 12, 2026. The settlement agreement says leftover money is to be redistributed to class members where that is economically feasible. Only if further rounds are not feasible does the remainder go back to Progressive, within 30 days of that decision. There is no cy pres charity recipient.
Do I need to file anything to get paid?
No. There was no claim form at any stage. The opt-out and objection deadline was April 30, 2025 and has passed. The only reason to contact the administrator now is a missing, lost or expired payment, or a wrong address.
Why did I receive a refund from Progressive?
This page cannot tell you that. A Brown v Progressive payment is a settlement award, and it only covers Georgia residents whose total-loss claims with Progressive Mountain or Progressive Premier were valued using a Mitchell report with a Projected Sold Adjustment. A premium refund or other payment from Progressive itself is a separate matter — ask Progressive, using the contact details on your policy documents.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
