When the Money Went Out
The short answer to “tiktok data settlement payout date”: payments started on October 26, 2022, per the update on the official site run by the administrator, Angeion Group.
The delay before that came from one appeal. The court approved the settlement on July 28, 2022 and entered final judgment on August 22, 2022. An appeal was filed on September 20, 2022, and the site warned that “settlement payments cannot be issued until all Appeals are resolved.” The Seventh Circuit dismissed that appeal on October 12, 2022. Payments began two weeks later — consistent with the settlement agreement, which says valid claims are paid “beginning 14 days after the Effective Date, or as soon thereafter as is reasonably practical.”
FOX 32 Chicago reported on October 27, 2022 that Illinois claimants had begun receiving payments that Wednesday.
Case Details
The settlement was approved in In re TikTok, Inc., Consumer Privacy Litigation, MDL No. 2948, Master Docket No. 1:20-cv-04699, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, before Judge John Z. Lee (Magistrate Judge Sunil R. Harjani). The approval opinion (Document 261) was filed July 28, 2022; the Order and Final Judgment (Document 264) was filed August 22, 2022. Both are posted on the official settlement website.
Status: Paid in 2022, No New Round Announced
The settlement agreement does provide for one. Within one year plus 30 days after the first payments, leftover money “shall be redistributed on a pro rata basis to Settlement Class Members who previously received payment,” if that is feasible and the amounts are not too small to send. If the administrator decides the residue cannot be paid out that way, the court may approve an alternative plan.
Some claims-aggregator sites say small “supplemental” payments went out. We could not confirm that from the administrator or the court, so treat such reports as unverified.
Who Got Paid — and Who Did Not
Only people who filed a valid claim by March 1, 2022. Nobody was paid automatically. The agreement says class members who did not submit a valid claim in time “waive any right to any payment from the Settlement Fund.” The claim period is closed and will not reopen.
Claimants were paid in one of two tiers. Under the plan of allocation, Illinois Subclass members (Illinois residents who used the app in Illinois to create videos before September 30, 2021) received six pro rata shares. Everyone else in the nationwide class received one share.
TikTok Data Settlement Amount Per Person
What was actually paid: no official per-person figure has been published. FOX 32 Chicago reported a viewer screenshot showing $167.04 for an Illinois claimant — close to the court's estimate. That is one reported payment, not an official average.
Your own Venmo, PayPal or bank history is the most reliable record of the tiktok data settlement amount you received.

Three Things to Watch For
A big brand name, a finished payout and rumors of extra money make an easy setup for impostors:
“Claim your TikTok supplemental payment” links
Any leftover money under the agreement goes to people who were already paid, through the same administrator. You do not file anything new for it. A link asking you to log in, enter card details or pay a release fee is not from Angeion.
Fake Venmo or PayPal “payment pending” notices
The real payments went out in 2022 through the method you chose on your claim. A message saying a TikTok settlement payment is waiting until you send money, verify your password or install an app is phishing.
Mixing it up with the government children's-privacy deal
The children's-privacy settlement TikTok reached with the U.S. government in August 2026 is a separate case, not this class action. A page promising you a share of it through a TikTok claim form is not legitimate. See our news report.
TikTok Settlement Payout — Questions People Actually Ask
What is the tiktok data settlement payout date?
Payments began October 26, 2022, per the official settlement website. That came two weeks after the Seventh Circuit dismissed the only appeal on October 12, 2022.
How much is the payout for TikTok?
The court's approval opinion estimated $27.19 per nationwide claimant and $163.13 per Illinois Subclass claimant. A payment of $167.04 to an Illinois claimant was reported by FOX 32 Chicago. No official final per-person figure has been published.
Was the tiktok data privacy settlement venmo option real?
Yes. Searches for “tiktok data privacy settlement venmo” are right: Venmo was one option if you chose it on your claim. Per FOX 32 Chicago, claimants could pick a check, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, a digital Mastercard or direct deposit. The settlement agreement made electronic payment the default, with another method for anyone who could not receive one.
I never got paid. What should I do?
First, confirm that you filed a claim before March 1, 2022; nobody was paid automatically. If you did, contact the administrator. The phone number is 1-866-377-2247, the email is Info@tiktokdataprivacysettlement.com, and the mail address is Musical.ly and/or TikTok Class Action, 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Neither the agreement nor the website states a deadline for reissuing payments, so ask soon.
Is there a supplemental or second TikTok payment?
The agreement provides that leftover funds be redistributed pro rata to people who were already paid, if that is practical. As of October 12, 2026, the official site has posted no notice of such a payment. Reports of small supplemental payments come from aggregator sites and are unconfirmed.
How long is the settlement period on TikTok?
For this case, the claim deadline was March 1, 2022, and payments began October 26, 2022. The claim period is closed. If you mean TikTok's own creator payouts, that is a separate topic this page does not cover; check TikTok's creator help pages.
How do I know a TikTok settlement message is real?
Genuine messages come from the administrator and point to tiktokdataprivacysettlement.com. Real messages never charge a fee and never ask for your TikTok password. If in doubt, call 1-866-377-2247 yourself instead of using contact details from the message.
How much do you usually get from a data breach settlement?
This settlement was about app data collection, not a data breach, so its numbers do not carry over. Per-person amounts in other cases depend on fund size and how many people file. Our data breach settlement calculator walks through that math.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
