As of October 6, 2026, we found no Sentara Health MyChart lawsuit and no settlement over Meta Pixel, Google or other tracking on sentara.com or in Sentara MyChart. There is no fund, no claim form and no deadline for that. What does exist: a 2025 insider incident in Sentara’s lab services that reached 14,898 patients, a $2.175 million HIPAA penalty from 2019, and an employee retirement-plan class action that Law360 reported on April 1, 2026 Sentara Health will settle for $1.5 million.

What People Are Asking About
Many hospital systems have been sued over tracking code on their websites and patient portals — code that allegedly sent page visits, searches or log-in events to Meta or Google. Patients who used Sentara MyChart, Sentara’s Epic-based patient portal, reasonably ask whether Sentara is one of them.
We searched for a sentara health lawsuit over tracking and found none as of October 6, 2026: no complaint, no docket, no settlement website. That is a finding about public records we could reach, not a guarantee that no case will ever be filed. If you want to record what you did, our form asks whether you used the Sentara website or Sentara MyChart, what you did there (booked an appointment, read results, searched a condition) and when you last used it.
The Sentara MyChart app terms do mention one form of tracking openly: some Sentara locations use in-building wayfinding, and you can opt out by turning off location access for the app.
Case Details
No tracking case. We found no court, case number or judge for a Sentara website or MyChart tracking claim.
Employee retirement plan (not patients). Carter v. Sentara Healthcare Fiduciary Committee, No. 2:25-cv-00016, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, before Judge Jamar K. Walker, filed January 8, 2025. It is an ERISA class action alleging Sentara failed to remove an underperforming investment fund from its retirement plan. Law360 reported on April 1, 2026 that Sentara Health will pay $1.5 million to settle it. It concerns plan participants only, not patients.
Government penalty (not a class action). In November 2019 Sentara Hospitals agreed to pay $2.175 million to the HHS Office for Civil Rights over how it reported a billing-mail breach. That money went to the government; patients could not claim from it.
Status: Reference Only, No Settlement
We also found no class action tied to the 2025 lab-services insider incident. Affected patients were offered free credit monitoring; that offer is not a settlement.
For how tracking cases against other hospitals ended, see our MyChart claim form guide and why the hospital, not MyChart, is the defendant.
Were You Affected by Anything?
Tracking: there is no case, so there is no class to be in. Using sentara.com or Sentara MyChart does not by itself make you part of any lawsuit.
The sentara health data breach of 2025 (lab services): you were likely affected only if you got a letter. Per HIPAA Journal, 1,620 patients with lab tests between January 14 and January 23, 2025 were notified on March 28, 2025, and 13,278 more were notified on June 9, 2025 after two remote workers turned out not to be the people hired. Fields possibly viewed included names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, Social Security numbers and the lab tests ordered.
Sentara Health Plans members: Sentara Health Plans says its vendor Change Healthcare notified it on June 20 (the notice gives no year) that some patients’ data was hit in Change’s February 2024 incident.
Is There Money?
For context only, not a prediction: some hospital tracking cases did settle. The Christ Hospital case in Ohio resolved with a $7,000,000 fund for more than 323,000 people (details), and Loyola Medicine’s case won final approval on September 17, 2025 and is now closed (details). Others are still being fought over federal wiretap law. If you want a rough sense of what such cases pay per person, use the MyChart settlement calculator or, for breaches involving Social Security numbers, the data breach settlement calculator.

We find no lawsuit, settlement or claim deadline over tracking on sentara.com or in Sentara MyChart.
Three Things to Watch For
Sentara patients have real breach letters in their mailboxes and nothing to claim — the gap scammers use:
“Sentara MyChart settlement” claim sites
There is no Sentara tracking settlement, so no claims site exists. A page asking for your Sentara MyChart log-in or Social Security number to “release your payment” is collecting data, not filing a claim.
Calls about the lab incident
The 2025 letters were real and listed a call center. A caller who reaches you first, cites “your lab tests” and asks you to confirm your Social Security number or pay a fee for monitoring is not Sentara. Use only the number printed in your letter.
Fake MyChart activation texts
Do not log in from a link that mentions a settlement or refund; open the Sentara MyChart app or type the address yourself.
Sentara Health — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Sentara Health MyChart lawsuit?
Not that we could find. As of October 6, 2026, we found no lawsuit or settlement over Meta Pixel, Google or other tracking on sentara.com or in Sentara MyChart. If one is filed, it would name Sentara, not Epic, the company that makes MyChart.
What is the Sentara patient portal called?
Sentara MyChart. Sentara describes it as part of its Sentara eCare Health Network, used across its hospitals and physician practices.
Was there a Sentara Health data breach?
Several incidents, none with a patient class settlement we could find. The largest recent one: in 2025 Sentara notified 14,898 patients that remote lab-services workers who were not the people hired may have viewed lab orders and identity data, including Social Security numbers.
Is there a Sentara Health lawsuit I can join for money?
Not for patients. The only recent class settlement we found is the $1.5 million ERISA case, Carter, No. 2:25-cv-00016, which covers retirement-plan participants. You do not sign up for a class action anyway; if one is certified or settled, an administrator contacts class members.
I got a Sentara letter about my lab tests. What now?
Keep the letter and the envelope. Enroll in the free credit monitoring it offers before the enrollment date printed in it. Consider a credit freeze at all three bureaus, and read insurer statements for care you never received.
Didn’t Sentara already pay a settlement?
Sentara Hospitals paid $2.175 million to HHS in 2019 for under-reporting a mailing breach: it reported 8 affected people when OCR found 577. That was a government penalty. No patient could claim from it.
How did tracking cases against other hospitals end?
Mixed. Some settled with claim forms, such as the Christ Hospital case in Ohio and Loyola Medicine in Illinois, both now closed. Others are still in court over whether wiretap law applies. Our MyChart claim form guide tracks which ones are open.
What can I check myself?
Look for any letter from Sentara or Sentara Health Plans about your data. Review your Sentara MyChart account for log-ins you do not recognize. If you want to note your own use, our form asks whether you used the website or MyChart, what you did there and when you last used it.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
