The Short Answer
This page covers only the payout. For the breach, the case and who was in the class, see our Rite Aid lawsuit overview.
Is there a rite aid settlement payout date? Not one we can confirm. As of October 12, 2026, we found no announcement from the administrator, Kroll Settlement Administration, that payments were sent or scheduled. The last archived version of the official site we could read, from June 14, 2026, still showed the pre-approval claim page and announced no payment. Its FAQ tells claimants: “Please be patient and check this Settlement Website for updates.”
Last confirmed step: the Final Approval Order of July 30, 2025.
One more thing to know: on October 12, 2026 the official site, RiteAidDataSettlement.com, did not load for us at all. That may be temporary. Until it is back, the administrator's phone line is the direct route.
Case Details
The settlement resolves Bianucci v. Rite Aid Corporation, No. 2:24-cv-03356-HB, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, before Judge Harvey Bartle III. Five class actions were consolidated into it on August 16, 2024. The fund is $6,800,000, to be paid by Rite Aid and/or its insurers, and it is non-reversionary: no money goes back to Rite Aid. The court-appointed administrator is Kroll Settlement Administration.
The settlement survived a detour: the official documents page lists a Suggestion of Bankruptcy and a stay order, then a June 10, 2025 order granting relief from the bankruptcy stay and a June 12, 2025 order lifting the stay. The court then granted final approval in an order dated July 30, 2025.
Status: Approved, Claims Closed, Payment Not Confirmed
1. The Effective Date. Under Section 10.1 it is the first business day after the final approval order becomes “Final” — meaning the time for appeal has expired, or any appeal has been resolved. We could not read the docket to confirm whether an appeal was filed.
2. Claims processing. Kroll must finish reviewing claims, including documented-loss claims.
3. Payment. Section 3.6: “Within 30 days after: (i) the Effective Date; or (ii) all Claim Forms have been processed” — whichever is later — Kroll distributes the money.
Anyone giving you a specific rite aid settlement payout date without pointing to a notice from Kroll or the court is guessing. For a rite aid settlement update, the administrator is the source: (833) 421-7672, or by mail to Rite Aid Data Breach Settlement Administrator, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, PO Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391.
Who Gets Paid
Only people who filed a valid claim. There are no automatic payments in this settlement. The claim deadline was July 7, 2025; it has passed and there is no late-claim window. If you did nothing, you will not receive money, and you have given up the right to sue over the breach.
How you are paid: the claim form offered PayPal, Venmo or a physical check. If you did not pick a digital option, a check comes by U.S. Mail to the address on your claim. If you have moved, write to the administrator at the PO Box above — the official FAQ says keeping your address current is your responsibility.
If a payment bounces: under Section 3.10, a returned check or failed digital payment gets one more attempt; Kroll searches for a valid address and resends within 30 days of the return.
How Much Per Person: Estimate, Not Yet Paid
Documented losses: up to $10,000 per person, paid first, for losses backed by documents.
Cash payment: everyone else shares what remains. Bloomberg Law reported at final approval that Kroll had received 69,451 claims and that the pro rata payment for most class members would be “approximately $38.28,” with California residents receiving “about twice that amount” because of California's statutory damages. That doubling is built into the agreement's formula.
Before anyone is paid, the fund covers attorneys' fees (Law360 reported $2.4 million awarded), administration costs and service awards. The final amount can still move a little with the final count of approved claims.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 16,001 other personal property damage casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2026, 11.3% of them filed as class actions:
- 32.5% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 19.5% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 32.5% and 52.1%.
- 5.9% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 90 reached a trial (1.1%), after a median of 27.5 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 8.4 months.
- Only 250 of them (1.6%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $443,000.

Three Things to Watch For
An approved settlement with no announced payment date, and an official site that was offline when we checked, is an easy target:
Lookalike “Rite Aid settlement” websites
With RiteAidDataSettlement.com unreachable on October 12, 2026, a site with a similar name could pose as the official one. The claim period is over; no real site needs your driver's license number or bank login now.
“Pay a fee to release your check”
Fees and costs come out of the $6.8 million fund before anyone is paid.
Texts asking you to “confirm” PayPal or Venmo
You chose your payment method on the claim form. A message demanding your account password or a code to “verify” payment is phishing. If in doubt, call (833) 421-7672 yourself rather than replying.

We found no notice from Kroll or the court that rite aid settlement checks or PayPal and Venmo payments have gone out. If you hear otherwise, confirm with the administrator before trusting it.
How much will I get from the Rite Aid settlement?
Estimated, not paid: about $38.28 for most cash claims and roughly twice that for California residents, per figures reported at final approval. Documented-loss claims are worth up to $10,000, based on your receipts.
What does rite aid settlement payout date reddit discussion tell me?
Threads such as “Rite Aid Data Breach Update” in r/RiteAid collect claimants' experiences, and are useful to see whether others have been paid. They are not evidence of a date or amount. Only Kroll and the court can confirm those.
What if my check expires or gets lost?
Checks must be cashed within 90 days of distribution (Section 3.8). Returned payments get one more attempt (Section 3.10). If yours is lost or expired, contact the administrator promptly at (833) 421-7672 or PO Box 225391, New York, NY 10150-5391.
Will there be a second payment?
Possibly. Under Section 3.9, money still left more than 120 days after distribution is paid to cash claimants who cashed their first payment, as long as the average payment is at least $3.00. After that, leftover money goes to a court-approved non-profit, by default the Pennsylvania IOLTA Board.
Is this about the Rite Aid opioid case?
No. This page covers only the $6.8 million data breach settlement in Bianucci v. Rite Aid. Other Rite Aid matters are summarized in our Rite Aid lawsuit overview.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
