Novo Nordisk Lawsuits: Ozempic Injuries, Insulin Prices, a Data Breach and Investors

There is no single Novo Nordisk lawsuit. The maker of Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus and its insulins is defending several separate groups of cases: injury claims over its GLP-1 drugs, insulin-pricing claims, class actions over a 2026 IT security incident, and investor suits. As of September 30, 2026, none of them has a settlement, a fund or a claim form.

What the Different Lawsuits Claim
GLP-1 injuries. Patients allege that Novo Nordisk's GLP-1 medicines — its own annual report names Victoza, Ozempic, Wegovy and Rybelsus — caused “various gastrointestinal and other injuries.” A separate group of cases alleges sudden vision loss from damage to the optic nerve (NAION). Eli Lilly, maker of Mounjaro, Trulicity and Zepbound, is a co-defendant.
Insulin prices. Since 2017, consumers, states, counties, health plans and others have sued. They allege that Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly, Sanofi and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) “colluded to artificially inflate list prices paid by consumers for diabetes products” while giving PBMs rebates in exchange for formulary access.
The 2026 IT security incident. Novo says it faces multiple putative class actions over an incident it announced in a press release on June 11, 2026. The plaintiffs allege their personal and protected health information was compromised and plead negligence, among other claims.
Investors. Two securities class actions allege that Novo misled buyers of its U.S.-listed shares (ADRs) — one about the REDEFINE-1 clinical trial, one about the compounded GLP-1 market.
These are allegations, not findings. In its filings Novo says it does not expect these cases to have a material impact on its finances.
Case Details
GLP-1 stomach and bowel injuries: In re: Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RAs) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 3094, No. 2:24-md-03094, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Judge Karen S. Marston — 4,022 pending cases on the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation's September 1, 2026 report (court orders).
GLP-1 vision loss (NAION): a separate MDL No. 3163, same court and judge — 216 pending cases on the same report. According to Eli Lilly, similar cases are also pending in Delaware, Indiana and New Jersey state courts.
Insulin pricing: In re: Insulin Pricing Litigation, MDL No. 3080, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, Judge Brian R. Martinotti — 516 pending cases (618 over the life of the MDL).
Investors: two securities class actions in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, filed January 24, 2025 and August 1, 2025.
IT security incident: multiple putative class actions in U.S. courts; Novo's filing does not name the courts.
Status on September 30, 2026: No Settlement in Any Case
The insulin MDL runs on separate tracks for state attorney-general claims, putative class actions and suits by self-funded health plans. The data-incident class actions are the newest front; Novo lists them in its August 2026 half-year report.
No settlement, fund, administrator, claim form or deadline has been announced in any of these cases, and Novo's filings through its August 2026 half-year report disclose none.

Which Case Could Involve You
You took Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus or Victoza and were diagnosed with a serious stomach or bowel injury. The GLP-1 MDL is a collection of individual injury lawsuits, not a class action: nobody is included automatically, and each person files their own case, usually through a lawyer. Qualifying injuries and case values: our Ozempic lawsuit calculator. Sudden vision loss in one eye: our NAION tracker.
You paid for Novo insulin. Consumers are among the plaintiffs in the insulin MDL, including in putative class actions. There is nothing to sign up for today.
You heard from Novo about its 2026 IT security incident. The data class actions are brought on behalf of people whose information was allegedly compromised. Keep any notice you received.
You bought Novo Nordisk ADRs between November 2, 2022 and December 19, 2024, or between May 7 and July 28, 2025 — the proposed class periods in the two investor suits.
What Anyone Has Been Paid So Far
If a class case ever settles, a court-appointed administrator notifies class members directly. In the injury MDLs, any resolution would run through each plaintiff's own lawsuit.

Three Things to Watch For
Novo's drugs are among the most advertised in America, and so are the lawsuits about them:
“Claim your Ozempic settlement” pages
There is no settlement in either GLP-1 MDL and no official administrator. A site that asks for your prescription history and Social Security number to “secure your payout” is collecting leads or data, not filing a claim.
Calls and emails about the data incident
A breach disclosure invites fake “Novo Nordisk” or “NovoCare” messages asking you to “verify” your identity, insurance ID or card to receive compensation. No settlement exists. Contact the company only through a number you look up yourself.
Compounded “Ozempic” sellers citing the courts
Novo sued Hims & Hers over compounded semaglutide in February 2026 and dropped the case in March without prejudice. That is not a ruling that compounded copies are approved — Novo calls them “unapproved copies.” Background: our Hims & Hers lawsuit page.
Novo Nordisk Lawsuit — Questions People Ask
Is there a Novo Nordisk lawsuit settlement I can claim?
No. As of September 30, 2026, there is no settlement, fund or claim form in the GLP-1 injury MDLs, the insulin pricing MDL, the data-incident class actions or the investor suits, and Novo's filings through its August 2026 half-year report disclose none. For cases that are paying now, see open class action settlements.
Is there a Novo Nordisk class action I can join?
Not by signing up. The Ozempic injury cases are individual lawsuits grouped in an MDL, not a class action — each patient files their own. The insulin, data-incident and investor cases are described by Novo as putative (proposed) class actions; if a class is certified or settles, members are notified and included unless they opt out.
Is the Ozempic lawsuit against Novo Nordisk?
Yes — Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly are the main defendants. On September 1, 2026, 4,022 cases were pending in the gastrointestinal MDL 3094 and 216 in the separate vision-loss MDL 3163, both in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Full status: GLP-1 lawsuit tracker.
Can I get money back for what I paid for Novo insulin?
Not today. Consumers are among the plaintiffs in the insulin pricing MDL (No. 3080, District of New Jersey), which has its own track for putative class actions, but no settlement with Novo has been reported. According to Eli Lilly's filing, the court set January 14, 2021 as a constructive-notice date for statute-of-limitations purposes — a question about your own timing belongs with a lawyer.
Was my data exposed in the Novo Nordisk security incident?
Novo disclosed an IT security incident in a June 11, 2026 press release, and plaintiffs in several class actions allege that personal and protected health information was compromised. Novo's filing does not say how many people were affected. If Novo notified you, keep the notice; freezing your credit at the three bureaus is free. See also the data breach settlement calculator.
I own Novo Nordisk stock. Is there an investor lawsuit?
Yes, two, both in federal court in New Jersey on behalf of proposed classes of ADR buyers. The first, filed January 24, 2025, covers November 2, 2022 to December 19, 2024 and concerns the REDEFINE-1 trial, including the company's expected 25% average weight loss. The second, filed August 1, 2025, covers May 7 to July 28, 2025 and concerns the compounded GLP-1 market. No settlement has been disclosed; law-firm ads about lead-plaintiff deadlines are not claim forms.
Is Novo Nordisk suing anyone itself?
Yes. On July 21, 2026 it sued Eli Lilly in federal court in New Jersey over comparative-efficacy advertising for GLP-1 drugs, and it has sued Cipla there over a proposed generic Ozempic. Its lawsuit against the Inflation Reduction Act's drug-pricing provisions ended when the Supreme Court denied review on May 18, 2026. Novo says it is working to prevent compounding of its GLP-1 drugs.
What are the whistleblower and employee cases?
Former employees filed two qui tam suits: one over NovoSeven, which ended in a defense verdict for Novo in November 2025 and is on appeal to the Ninth Circuit, and one in Washington, D.C., alleging kickbacks tied to the promotion of Ozempic and Rybelsus. Separately, five former employees filed a putative class action in September 2024 over Novo's U.S. retirement plan. None of these is a patient compensation case.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
