There Are Four Different 'Cash App Settlements.' The One 667,000 People Filed For Has No Payout Date — the One Mailing Checks Since June Never Asked for a Claim

If you filed a claim by the November 18, 2024 deadline, your money sits in Salinas v. Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC (N.D. Cal., No. 22-cv-04823) — the $15 million data-security settlement that received final approval on March 27, 2025. More than 667,000 claims were reported filed, seeking reimbursement of documented losses up to $2,500, lost time at $25/hour (up to 3 hours), and unauthorized-transaction losses.

We rendered the official administrator site on August 7, 2026. The status banner — posted April 9, 2026, and unchanged since — says the review of claim deficiency responses and appeals “has been completed,” and that “the distribution of settlement payments will be issued to approved claims in the coming months.” No date. No confirmation that any general payment wave has gone out — 16 months after final approval. The court docket rhymes with that: in late 2025, class members filed pro se requests asking the court to order the settlement paid “forthwith.” You do not file motions like that when checks are arriving.

One caution: several payout-date sites describe specific 2025 “payment waves” for this settlement, complete with dates and average amounts. The administrator's own site has never announced any of it. Treat the official status banner as the only authoritative answer.

A different pot of Cash App money is genuinely moving. In January 2025, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ordered Block to pay $75 million to $120 million in consumer redress plus a $55 million penalty over Cash App's historical customer-service and dispute-handling practices (docket 2025-CFPB-0001, covering July 1, 2019 through January 16, 2025). The CFPB said it plainly at the time: consumers “will not need to take action” to be paid.

The official settlement site for that order — cashappcfpbsettlement.com, administered by Epiq — currently shows the status: “Checks are being mailed starting June 8, 2026.” Its FAQ, verified August 7, adds the fine print: checks go out “in batches on a rolling basis throughout the year,” recipients were identified from records as eligible under the consent order, there is no firm date for any individual check, no fees, and no 1099. If an unexpected “Cash App” check shows up, you can verify its tracking number with Epiq at (888) 832-1301 — and you should cash legitimate checks promptly.

The reason everyone is googling right now is probably neither of the above. In early July 2026, Block reached a $45 million settlement with 46 state attorneys general over Cash App fraud-complaint handling — a story that ran everywhere under the headline “Cash App settlement.” But as the law firm Saul Ewing put it in its client alert: “The $45 million is a penalty paid to the states, not a fund that lands in your account.” Consumer compensation for that conduct runs through the CFPB remediation above, not through a new claim fund.

And there is a fourth case that does pay claimants — just different ones: Bottoms v. Block (W.D. Wash., No. 2:23-cv-01969), a $12.5 million settlement over referral text messages. Aggregator reporting puts its first payment wave in February 2026 at roughly $394 per claimant, with a second wave in July 2026. If you filed in that case, your July payment may be what your neighbor is talking about.

Scam pattern to watch: with multiple real Cash App settlements in the news, fake “claim portals” and “payment release fees” circulate on social media.
