NAI Earle Furman Data Breach: A Ransomware Claim, Not Yet a Lawsuit

Reference Guide

Get a free case reviewCase status

NAI Earle Furman is a commercial real estate brokerage and property management firm based in Greenville, South Carolina. On September 22, 2026 a ransomware group listed it on a dark-web leak site. As of October 16, 2026 the company has not publicly confirmed a breach, we found no notice to any state attorney general, and we found no nai earle furman data breach lawsuit on file. There is no settlement and no claim form.

What the Ransomware Group Claims

The only source for the nai earle furman data breach is the attackers themselves. Ransomware-tracking site Ransomware.live recorded the listing on September 22, 2026 and estimated the attack happened the same day.

The group claims it took a single snapshot of one file server — about 1.36 million file paths — covering brokerage deals, the property-management portfolio and its accounting, broker commissions, employee home directories, and files of Croxton Gray, a firm it says NAI Earle Furman absorbed.

That is a claim, not a confirmed fact. The listing gives no count of affected people and names no specific data types, such as Social Security numbers. Ransomware groups post victim names to pressure companies into paying.

Case details

We found no lawsuit over this incident. A search of federal court records on CourtListener returned one 2026 case naming NAI Earle Furman LLC: Conn’s Distribution Trust v. NAI Earle Furman LLC, No. 26-03280, an adversary proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, filed July 21, 2026. It was filed two months before the leak-site listing, so it is not about this breach. Our database of new federal filings since October 10, 2026 shows nothing under the name. We could not search South Carolina state-court records, so a state filing cannot be ruled out.

Lawyer-advertising sites are asking current and former employees, investors and residents of the firm’s properties to come forward. That is recruitment for a possible case, not a filed case.

Status: Unconfirmed Claim, No Lawsuit

As of October 16, 2026: no confirmed breach, no lawsuit, no settlement. NAI Earle Furman had not publicly confirmed the claim or released a statement. We found no breach notice filed with a state attorney general — California’s public list has no entry, and Maine’s list could not be opened. No one has published a number of affected people.

Separately, breach tracker Breachsense lists an earlier claim against naiearlefurman.com by a different group, discovered March 29, 2025, with a claimed 64GB leak. We found no company confirmation of that one either.

Who Could Be Affected

Going by the attackers’ own description, the files most likely to hold personal data are employee home directories, broker commission records, and property-management accounting. People who could appear there include current and former employees and brokers, tenants and residents of managed properties, investors, deal counterparties, and people tied to Croxton Gray.

The real test is a letter. If the firm confirms personal data was taken, state law generally requires it to notify the people affected. A notice naming NAI Earle Furman, stating which of your details were involved, is what makes you part of any future class. If you get one, keep the letter and the envelope.

Is There Any Money?

No. There is no settlement, no fund, no administrator, no claim form and no deadline. No lawsuit has been filed that we could find, so there is not even a claim on file for a court to value.

If a breach is confirmed and a case follows, comparable data-breach settlements have usually combined reimbursement of documented losses, a smaller flat payment and credit monitoring. Our data breach settlement calculator shows how those payouts have run. None of that is a prediction for this case.

NAI Earle Furman Breach Timeline

  1. March 29, 2025 — An Earlier Claim

Breachsense lists a separate claim against naiearlefurman.com by a different group, with a claimed 64GB leak. We found no company confirmation of it.

  2. July 21, 2026 — Unrelated Bankruptcy Case

Conn’s Distribution Trust files an adversary proceeding against NAI Earle Furman LLC in Texas bankruptcy court (No. 26-03280). It has nothing to do with the breach claim.

  3. September 22, 2026 — Leak-Site Listing

A ransomware group lists NAI Earle Furman on its dark-web portal and claims a file-server snapshot of about 1.36 million paths.

  4. September 22, 2026 — Lawyers Start Recruiting

Lawyer-advertising sites ask employees, investors and residents to come forward. No complaint is filed.

  5. October 16, 2026 — Still Unconfirmed

We found no public statement from the company, no attorney general notice, no count of affected people and no lawsuit.

Three Things to Watch For

An unconfirmed breach with leaked employee and tenant files gives scammers a story and no official notice to check it against:

“Claim your NAI Earle Furman settlement”

There is no settlement and no lawsuit, so there is no claims site. A page asking for your Social Security number or bank details to “register” is collecting data, not filing anything.

Fake rent or commission payment changes

If accounting and commission files were taken, expect emails that look like they come from your property manager or the brokerage and ask you to send rent or a payment to a “new” account. Confirm by calling a number you already have, not one in the message.

Calls asking you to “verify” your identity

Your bank, your employer and the IRS will not call, email or text to ask for your Social Security number, the FTC says. A caller who cites the breach and asks for it is the scam.

NAI Earle Furman Breach — Questions People Actually Ask

Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.

Is there an NAI Earle Furman data breach lawsuit?

Not that we could find as of October 16, 2026. Lawyers are recruiting possible plaintiffs, but we found no complaint in federal court records. The only 2026 federal case naming the company is an unrelated bankruptcy matter filed in July. We could not search South Carolina state courts.

Did NAI Earle Furman confirm a data breach?

No public confirmation as of October 16, 2026. The only source is a ransomware group’s leak-site listing of September 22, 2026. A listing is an accusation made to pressure a company. It is not proof that data was taken.

What data was exposed?

Unknown. The attackers claim files on brokerage deals, property-management accounting, broker commissions, employee home directories and Croxton Gray records. They did not say whether those files contain Social Security numbers or bank details.

How many people were affected?

No number has been published. We found no breach notice filed with a state attorney general, which is usually where a count first appears. The group claims about 1.36 million file paths. That counts files, not people.

How do I find if my data was breached?

For this incident, a notice letter from NAI Earle Furman would be the confirmation. More generally, the FTC suggests checking your bank statements for withdrawals you did not make and your credit reports for accounts you do not recognize.

When was the national data breach?

That is a different case. The National Public Data breach was a data-broker theft alleged to have happened in April 2024, involving 2.9 billion records. The company confirmed it on August 16, 2024. It has nothing to do with NAI Earle Furman — see our National Public Data breach page.

Do I need to sign up for anything now?

No. There is no class, no settlement and no form. If a class action is filed and later settles, a court-appointed administrator notifies class members directly. Signing a lawyer’s retainer is a separate choice. It is not registration.

What is worth doing right now?

If you worked for, rented from or did deals with the firm, freeze your credit at Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. The FTC says a freeze is free to place and lift. Watch for payment-change emails that seem to come from your property manager, and keep any notice letter you receive.
