What the Joint Juice Class Action Was About
Joint Juice was a glucosamine and chondroitin drink sold by Premier Nutrition, a subsidiary of BellRing Brands; BellRing says it discontinued the line in the first quarter of fiscal 2023. The lawsuits alleged that Premier deceptively advertised the drink's joint-health benefits. Premier denies any wrongdoing and admits none in either settlement.
The Joint Juice class action is one of the longest-running consumer cases in the country. The first suit, Mullins v. Premier Nutrition Corp., No. 3:13-cv-01271-RS, was filed in San Francisco federal court on March 20, 2013. A New York jury later found for the plaintiff class, and the case was still on appeal when the parties settled.
Case Details
There are two separate settlements, and the state where you bought Joint Juice decides which one you are in.
New York: Montera v. Premier Nutrition Corporation, No. 3:16-cv-06980 RS, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Judge Richard Seeborg. The case went to a jury trial starting May 23, 2022; judgment was entered on August 12, 2022 and, after a Ninth Circuit ruling, re-entered at $8,312,450; both sides appealed. Final approval of the settlement: May 14, 2026.
Multi-state (California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania): Bland v. Premier Nutrition Corporation, No. RG19002714, with the related Sonner case, No. RG20072126, Alameda County Superior Court, Judge Michael Markman. Final approval: May 26, 2026. This one settlement also resolves the older federal cases for those states.
New Mexico buyers are in neither class; BellRing says that case was resolved by a confidential settlement on November 12, 2025, without court approval.
Status: Approved, Claims Closed, Payments Reported
The official site, JointJuiceSettlement.com, run by JND Legal Administration, had posted no payment notice as of October 5, 2026; its FAQ still says payment waits until appeals are resolved. BellRing's quarterly filing of August 4, 2026 said the company would pay the remaining $17.2 million (New York) and $68.8 million (multi-state) into the funds on or before August 10, 2026. We track the payment reports in detail in our payout report.
Who Gets Paid
New York class: people who bought any Joint Juice product in New York from December 5, 2013 to December 28, 2021.
Multi-state class: people who bought Joint Juice in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan or Pennsylvania during each state's class period — starting as early as March 1, 2009 in California and running through December 31, 2022.
Inside each class, only two groups are paid. Direct Payment Class Members were identified from retailer records and received an email or postcard; they are paid automatically. Everyone else had to file a claim by May 18, 2026. If you neither got that notice nor filed a claim, you will not receive a payment, and you are still bound by the settlement's release.
How Much the Joint Juice Settlement Pays
Those were estimates. Under the settlement, payments are adjusted pro rata to use up the net fund (up to seven times the base amount). Claimants report about $402.78 in New York and about $82 to $206 in the multi-state settlement. By our arithmetic, $402.78 is six units at $67.13 each. We cannot verify any individual payment, and the administrator has not published final per-unit rates. To estimate a payment in other cases, see the class action payout calculator.

Three Things to Watch For
Payments arriving by email are exactly what imposters copy. Know what the real ones can and cannot do:
“Pay a fee to release your Joint Juice check”
The settlement agreements bar payment methods that carry inactivity fees and bar the administrator from deducting fees on disbursement without class counsel's written approval. A message asking you to pay, or for a full bank login, is not from the settlement.
“Late Joint Juice claims still accepted”
The claim deadline was May 18, 2026. A site or ad offering to file a Joint Juice claim now, or to “reopen” one for a fee, is not the official process. Any reopened period would be announced on JointJuiceSettlement.com.
Payment emails from people who never filed
Only Direct Payment Class Members and timely claimants are paid. If you got no notice and filed nothing, a “your Joint Juice money is waiting” email is suspect. Check by calling JND at 1-888-921-0720 or typing the official address yourself — not by clicking the link.
Joint Juice Settlement — Questions People Actually Ask
What is the Joint Juice settlement payout date?
Payments were reported to begin on September 15, 2026, according to ClaimDepot and claimants. As of October 5, 2026 the official site has not announced a payment date and its FAQ still refers to appeals. If you have not been paid, contact JND Legal Administration at 1-888-921-0720 or info@JointJuiceSettlement.com.
How long do I have to cash my Joint Juice check?
The settlement agreements require that payments stay valid for at least 90 days from issuance; uncashed money is returned to the fund. A New York payment letter is reported to show a void date of December 14, 2026. Check the date on your own check or email — once it passes, the money is gone.
Is there a separate Joint Juice New York settlement?
Yes. New York buyers are covered by Montera v. Premier Nutrition, a $19.16 million settlement in federal court. Buyers in the other eight states are covered by the $70.84 million Bland multi-state settlement in Alameda County. Each has its own pages on JointJuiceSettlement.com.
What is the Joint Juice multi-state settlement?
It is the $70.84 million settlement for people who bought Joint Juice in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan or Pennsylvania. It received final approval on May 26, 2026 and resolves both the California state cases and the older federal cases for those states.
Can I still file a Joint Juice claim?
No. The deadline was May 18, 2026. If you were not a Direct Payment Class Member and did not file in time, you will not be paid. Our list of open class action settlements shows deadlines still ahead, and some settlements need no proof of purchase.
Why did my payment differ from $50, $10 or $25 per unit?
Those were estimates. The settlement adjusts every payment pro rata so the net fund is used up after fees, costs and administration. Claimants report amounts above the base rates, such as $402.78 in New York. What you get depends on your units and product type.
What happens to money nobody cashes?
Under the settlement agreement, uncashed funds go back to the fund, and leftover money is paid to the court-approved cy pres recipient, the Rheumatology Research Foundation. Nothing returns to Premier Nutrition.
Is the Joint Juice payment email real?
An emailed check can be genuine: the claim form offered an “eCheck” option. The settlement requires at least one email reminder for uncashed payments, no earlier than 30 days after issuance and no later than 14 days before expiry. A real payment never asks for a fee. When in doubt, call 1-888-921-0720.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
