The Vince McMahon lawsuit in the news right now is a $147.5 million settlement of the WWE shareholder case over the 2023 merger that created TKO. It is the only one that can pay ordinary people, and only former WWE stockholders. It still needs court approval; as of October 2026 there is no claim form and no deadline. Separately, the Janel Grant case left federal court for private arbitration in July 2026, and the “ring boy” abuse case is still in federal court in Maryland.

What the Lawsuits Allege
There is no single Vince McMahon lawsuit. Four proceedings matter, and they allege very different things.
Shareholders allege that the former WWE board breached its fiduciary duties in the 2023 sale to Endeavor. The core claim is that McMahon steered the deal to Endeavor because its chief executive would guarantee him a continued role at the combined company. The defendants deny it and admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement.
A former WWE employee, Janel Grant, alleged in January 2024 that McMahon and former executive John Laurinaitis sexually assaulted her, and sued under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. McMahon denies the allegations.
Eight anonymous men allege they were sexually abused as boys working at wrestling events in the 1980s by a former ring announcer, now deceased, and that WWE and Vince and Linda McMahon were negligent. The defendants dispute the claims.
The SEC found that McMahon signed two undisclosed settlement agreements on WWE's behalf, in 2019 and 2022. That matter is closed.

The latest filing reported is the defendants' reply brief of July 27, 2026 in their challenge to the constitutionality of Maryland's Child Victims Act of 2023, which the Maryland Attorney General is defending.

Are You Part of Any of These Cases?
Former WWE stockholders are the only group that can receive money from a settlement. Per the filed settlement, the class is anyone who held WWE stock on September 12, 2023, the day WWE shares converted one-for-one into TKO stock. The defendants and their affiliates are excluded. If your shares sat with a broker, the notice will most likely come through that broker. Keep statements that show your WWE position on that date.
WWE fans, TKO customers and TKO shareholders who bought after the merger are not in any of these cases.
The ring boy case is not a class action. It is brought by named (anonymous) individuals. Anyone with a similar experience would need their own lawyer and their own claim; there is no fund to join.
The Grant case is an individual dispute, now in private arbitration.
Who Gets Money, and How Much
Grant case: any outcome in arbitration is private and pays only the parties.
Ring boy case: no settlement, no fund, no claim form.
SEC: the $400,000 penalty went to the government and the $1,330,915.90 reimbursement went to WWE — not to investors. Run your share count through our payout calculator once the court approves the fee award.

Three Things to Watch For
A nine-figure settlement with no claim form yet, plus two abuse cases in the headlines, is a gap that imposters fill:
“Claim your WWE merger payout now” sites
As of October 2026 there is no claims portal, because the court has not approved the settlement. A site asking for your brokerage login or Social Security number to “reserve” a share is not the administrator. The real notice will name the court and case number 2023-1166-JTL.
“Ring boy settlement fund” offers
The Maryland case has no settlement and no fund. Anyone promising survivors a payment from it, or charging a fee to “register” a claim, is selling something that does not exist.
“SEC fine refund” for WWE investors
The 2025 SEC order created no investor fund: the penalty went to the government and the reimbursement went to WWE. Calls or emails offering investors a share of “McMahon's SEC money” are fraudulent.
Vince McMahon Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Which Vince McMahon lawsuit is in the news right now?
The $147.5 million settlement of the WWE shareholder lawsuit over the 2023 merger with Endeavor. It was agreed in June 2026, filed with the Delaware Court of Chancery in late August 2026, and still needs the judge's approval.
Did Vince McMahon settle with Janel Grant?
No settlement has been announced. On July 20, 2026 the parties agreed to arbitrate, and the federal case was dismissed on July 24, 2026 and closed on July 27, 2026. The dismissal keeps both sides' claims and defenses alive in private arbitration. It is not a finding for either side.
How much will former WWE shareholders get?
No court has set that. One press estimate puts it at about $1.81 per eligible share after fees of up to 33%. It depends on the final fee award, administration costs and how many shares are claimed.
Do I need to file a claim for the WWE merger settlement?
Not yet. As of October 2026 the court has not scheduled the fairness hearing, and no claim form or deadline has been published. Once it does, the notice will set out how to claim, object or opt out, with dates.
Who pays the $147.5 million?
WWE pays $105 million, of which TKO expects $75 million to come from insurance. McMahon and his insurers pay $42.5 million.
What is the ring boy lawsuit?
Eight anonymous men allege they were sexually abused as boys at wrestling events in the 1980s. The lawsuit alleges WWE and Vince and Linda McMahon were negligent. It is in federal court in Maryland, No. 1:24-cv-03487. In mid-May 2026 Judge Bredar let the plaintiffs stay anonymous through the pretrial phase.
Was Vince McMahon criminally charged?
No criminal charges against him appear in any of the filings reviewed for this page. The SEC matter was civil and administrative, and he settled it in January 2025 without admitting or denying the findings.
Is a letter about the WWE settlement real?
A real notice will name the Delaware Court of Chancery and case number 2023-1166-JTL, and it will come from a court-approved administrator or your broker. It will never ask for a fee. Check the case number, and treat anything that arrives before the court schedules a hearing with suspicion.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
