The Uber Cases, One by One
“Uber lawsuit” covers very different cases, and who can get money differs in each. Passenger sexual assault (MDL 3084): riders allege Uber failed to protect them from drivers; each case is an individual injury claim. Uber One (FTC and states): the government alleges Uber charged people for its $9.99-a-month or $96-a-year subscription without their consent, advertised savings that many members did not actually get, and made cancelling take as many as 23 screens and 32 actions. Disability access (U.S. Department of Justice): the DOJ alleges Uber routinely refused riders who use service animals or stowable wheelchairs and imposed impermissible charges. Driver classification (California Attorney General): the State alleges drivers were misclassified as independent contractors in the years before Proposition 22. Uber Eats “priority” fee: a proposed consumer class action, covered on our Uber Eats priority fee page. All of these are allegations, and Uber is contesting them in court.

Breyer. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation's September 1, 2026 report lists 4,588 actions pending and 4,890 in total. Uber One: Federal Trade Commission v. Uber Technologies, Inc., No. 4:25-cv-03477, Northern District of California, Judge Jon S. Tigar, filed April 21, 2025. The second amended complaint of May 4, 2026 is brought by the FTC together with 21 states and the District of Columbia. Disability: United States v. Uber Technologies, Inc., Northern District of California, filed September 11, 2025; the court denied Uber's motion to dismiss on March 5, 2026. Driver classification: the California Attorney General's suit, filed May 5, 2020 in San Francisco Superior Court with the city attorneys of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, remains pending for the period before Proposition 22, according to Uber's quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026.

Who Could Get Something, Group by Group
Riders who were sexually assaulted or harassed by a driver: you would bring your own lawsuit, usually through a lawyer; there is no class to join. Uber ended mandatory arbitration of sexual misconduct claims effective May 15, 2018. Uber One subscribers: the FTC and the states sue on behalf of the public; there is nothing to sign up for, and nothing to file today.
Riders with disabilities: the 2025 DOJ case is a government lawsuit, not a class action. A refused ride can be reported to the Justice Department.
Drivers: New York's fund covered drivers who drove between November 10, 2014 and May 22, 2017 and had New York sales tax and Black Car Fund fees deducted. Massachusetts drivers should check the Attorney General's settlement announcement and its follow-up pages. California's case is still pending.

What Has Actually Been Paid, and What Hasn't
Settlements that did pay money (older or closed): New York drivers — a $290 million Uber fund for sales-tax and Black Car Fund deductions, claim deadline February 28, 2025. Massachusetts — under the June 27, 2024 settlement Uber agreed to pay $148 million, most of it as restitution to drivers, plus a $32.50 hourly pay floor. Riders with disabilities — under the July 18, 2022 DOJ settlement over wait-time fees, Uber agreed to credit more than 65,000 waiver-program riders double the wait-time fees they had been charged, and to pay $1,738,500 to more than a thousand riders who had complained and $500,000 to others the DOJ identified.
Nothing yet: Uber One, the 2025 disability case, the California driver case and the Uber Eats priority fee case have no settlement and no fund.

The DOJ settles its November 2021 ADA suit over wait-time fees charged to riders who needed more time because of a disability. Uber agrees to account credits for 65,000-plus riders and payments to those who complained.

New York's administrator starts mailing notices on March 7, 2024 for the $290 million Uber fund. On June 27, 2024 Massachusetts announces Uber will pay $148 million and a $32.50 hourly minimum.

The FTC files in the Northern District of California, alleging charges without consent and a cancellation maze. In the second amended complaint of May 4, 2026 it is joined by 21 states and the District of Columbia.

The Justice Department sues under Title III of the ADA over refused rides for riders with service animals and wheelchairs. The court denies Uber's motion to dismiss on March 5, 2026.

Bellwether juries award $8.5 million in Arizona (February) and $5,000 in Charlotte, North Carolina (April). A California jury had found Uber not liable in 2025.

Under a July 13, 2026 order, jury selection in the next MDL 3084 bellwether was set for September 30 and trial for October 5, 2026. 4,588 cases were pending on September 1. No Uber case has an open claim form that we could find.
Three Uber-Specific Traps
A famous brand, thousands of pending cases and no open claim form is exactly the gap imposters fill:
“Register for the Uber settlement”
There is no global settlement in the assault litigation and no claims portal to register with. A site charging a fee or asking for your Social Security number to “reserve your share” is not part of MDL 3084.
“Your Uber One refund is ready”
The FTC case has not produced a refund program. A text or email asking you to log in with your Uber account or card details to collect one is phishing. Check charges inside the app instead of tapping the link.
Paid “help” with a driver settlement
New York's Attorney General warned drivers to beware of anyone offering to help file a claim in the Uber and Lyft settlements, and that phone numbers, caller ID and email addresses can be faked. That fund's deadline passed on February 28, 2025.

Is there an Uber class action I can join?
Not in the way most people mean. Nobody “joins” a certified class — if one covers you, you are in unless you opt out. The Uber One and disability cases are government enforcement actions, and the assault cases are individual lawsuits grouped for pretrial work. A proposed consumer class action over the Uber Eats priority fee is at an early stage, with no settlement.

Uber One subscribers: keep the emails or statements that show each charge. Drivers: keep your earnings statements and any settlement notice. Anyone assaulted during a ride: have the dates reviewed by a lawyer, because state deadlines differ. And ignore any message that asks for a fee or your Uber login to “claim” money.
