Tepezza Payout Searches Just Doubled. The First Trial Was Scheduled for August 3 — It Never Happened, and Amgen's SEC Filings Don't Mention the Lawsuits at All.

Searches for “Tepezza lawsuit payout” doubled in a week, and the honest answer is that there are no payouts: no settlement, no verdict, no trial ever held. The bellwether date published across the legal internet arrived and passed — the court quietly struck every trial deadline back in October 2025. The federal docket has been frozen at 287 cases all summer. And in Amgen's latest quarterly filing, the litigation does not appear even once.

By Settlement Insight Data Desk · August 19, 2026

The searches doubled. The docket did not move

Impressions for “Tepezza lawsuit payout” roughly doubled in the week of August 11–17. When search demand jumps like that, something usually happened — a verdict, a settlement, a deadline. So we went looking for the event.

There is none. The public mirror of the MDL's master docket shows nothing but administrative housekeeping all year — the most recent entries are party substitutions from mid-July. No trial, no verdict, no settlement order.

The official numbers are just as flat. The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation's own monthly statistics put In re: Tepezza Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation (MDL 3079, Northern District of Illinois, Judge Thomas M. Durkin) at 277 pending cases of 287 total actions as of August 3, 2026 — and the total has been frozen at 287 since at least June. Essentially nobody new has filed all summer.

That frozen number is worth holding onto, because law-firm pages are circulating the claim that the MDL “added 24 new cases between July and August, rising from 236 to 260.” Both figures are wrong against the JPML's official count. A docket that gains no cases for three months is not a litigation heating up — it is a litigation holding its breath.

August 3 was supposed to be the first trial day

Here is the likeliest reason people are searching. For most of the past year, the answer to “when will Tepezza cases go to trial?” — repeated across dozens of law-firm pages — was August 3, 2026. An August 2025 court order set that date for the first bellwether trial, with further trials to follow in September, November and February 2027, each running three to four weeks. The date was published everywhere, it sat in people's memories, and two weeks ago it arrived.

No trial began — because the schedule it belonged to no longer exists. In October 2025, following an off-the-record discussion between the judge and both sides, the court struck all deadlines associated with the bellwether trials. As the legal press put it at the time, the move raised “speculation that the parties have reached a global settlement.” The dates were never reinstated; as of August 19, 2026, no new trial dates are on the public record.

Drugwatch's litigation page, updated August 3 — the very day the trial would have started — states it plainly: “all dates related to the upcoming Tepezza bellwether trials have been removed from the schedule” and “there have been no jury verdicts or settlements.”

So the search spike is, most plausibly, a calendar echo: a widely published date arriving with nothing behind it, amplified by the usual early-August wave of law-firm page refreshes stamping “[August 2026 Update]” on content whose substance has not changed since last fall.

What Amgen tells its shareholders about this litigation: nothing

If a global settlement were agreed, or even reliably imminent, one place would show it: the defendant's securities filings. Amgen — which acquired Tepezza's maker Horizon Therapeutics in 2023 — filed its second-quarter 10-Q on August 5, 2026. We read its legal contingencies note in full.

The Tepezza hearing-loss litigation is not in it. The note walks through patent disputes, antitrust matters, tax proceedings and securities cases — and never mentions the MDL. Searching the entire document for “hearing loss” returns zero matches; the only appearance of “teprotumumab” is in the product glossary. The same is true of Amgen's most recent annual report and its first-quarter filing: no mention, no reserve, no named matter.

Two readings of that absence are available, and honesty requires giving both. Companies must disclose proceedings they consider material — Amgen's silence means the litigation has not, in its judgment, cleared that bar, which cuts against the theory that a nine-figure settlement is about to land. Alternatively, 287 cases is simply small enough (against, say, 3M's 300,000 earplug claims) that even a completed settlement might never register as material for a company of Amgen's size. Either way: there is no disclosed settlement, no disclosed reserve, and no public number of any kind from the defendant.

Meanwhile the product itself is thriving — the same earnings release reported Tepezza sales of $576 million for the quarter, up 14 percent — which put the drug's name back in financial headlines the week before the search spike began.

Every payout number you have read is a projection

Search this topic and you will meet confident-sounding figures within seconds: “$75,000 to $200,000.” “$140,000 to $350,000.” “An average Tepezza payout would be between $250,000 and $500,000.” Here is what every one of those numbers has in common: no Tepezza case has ever produced a verdict or a settlement, so there is no real payout anywhere for these figures to describe.

Do not take our word for it — take the publishers'. The firms quoting ranges attach the disclaimers themselves: one writes that its figures “are by no means a guarantee”; another that “specific settlement amounts for Tepezza lawsuits have not been publicly disclosed”; a third calls it “still very premature to predict exactly how much a Tepezza lawsuit could be worth.” These are marketing estimates extrapolated from other drug litigations, published to attract clients. They may eventually prove roughly right — projections sometimes do — but today they measure attorney optimism, not money.

The complete list of facts about Tepezza compensation, as of August 19, 2026: settlements: zero. Verdicts: zero. Trials held: zero. Court-approved payout schedule: none. Claim form: none. Anything beyond that sentence is speculation, including ours.

What the struck deadlines actually suggest — and what an affected patient can do

To be fair to the speculation: courts do not usually erase entire trial calendars after off-the-record talks unless something is moving. Striking every bellwether deadline is the procedural signature of serious settlement negotiations, and the trade press read it exactly that way ten months ago. It is a reasonable inference. It is also still only an inference — negotiations of this kind are confidential, they can run for a year, and they can fail, sending everyone back to a trial calendar.

If you took Tepezza and have documented hearing loss or tinnitus, the practical picture is unchanged by any of this: the MDL remains open and firms are accepting cases. The one deadline that is real for you has nothing to do with bellwether schedules — it is your state's statute of limitations, typically two to six years from injury or discovery. A confidential settlement, if one is being negotiated, would cover people with filed or registered claims; waiting to “see the payout first” is how eligible people end up outside it.

And a warning that applies doubly in this vacuum: because no settlement exists, nobody can be holding a Tepezza check for you. Anyone demanding a fee to “release your settlement,” or promising a guaranteed amount, is running a script. The day there is a real Tepezza settlement, it will appear on the MDL docket, in Amgen's filings — and on this page.
