Sportsman’s Guide Will Pay Up to $1,015,000 Because Pennsylvania Customers’ Online Gun Orders Were Allegedly Shared With Third Parties. Up to $145 a Person, No Receipt, Venmo Accepted — but Only for Pennsylvanians Who Ordered or Reserved a Firearm Between January 2021 and July 2026. Claims Close October 5.

DeLong v. Sportsman’s Guide, LLC (Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, No. CV-25-000911) is the second Pennsylvania firearms-privacy settlement of the year; the first, against Sportsman’s Warehouse, has its final approval hearing today. The claims rest on two state statutes — the Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act and the Uniform Firearms Act’s confidentiality clause — and on the allegation that the retailer’s website disclosed what Pennsylvanians were buying. Sportsman’s Guide denies it. We read the official FAQ and the dates page rather than the aggregators; the site itself lists the hearing at two different times.

— key figures at a glance

Two Pennsylvania statutes, one website

The lawsuit, in the official FAQ’s words, “alleges that Defendant violated the WESCA and the UFA by disclosing information pertaining to firearm purchases on its website to third parties without consent.” WESCA is Pennsylvania’s Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act, 18 Pa.C.S. § 5701 and following — the statute a wave of suits has aimed at website tracking tools. The UFA citation is narrower and unusual: 18 Pa.C.S. § 6111(i), the part of the Uniform Firearms Act that makes information about firearm purchases confidential. Put together, the theory is that a tracking tool on sportsmansguide.com transmitted what a Pennsylvania customer ordered — a firearm — to an outside company.

Sportsman’s Guide “denies all allegations, denies any wrongdoing or liability, and maintains that it complied with the law at all times.” No court ruled on the merits. Flint DeLong first sued in federal court in Philadelphia on November 7, 2023 (DeLong v. Sportsman’s Guide, Inc., E.D. Pa. No. 2:23-cv-04356, Judge Joel H. Slomsky); that docket closed on January 27, 2025, and the case that settled is the 2025 state-court action in Delaware County before Judge George A. Pagano. The court granted preliminary approval, and the administrator mailed notice on August 6, 2026.

Who qualifies, and what “up to $145” means

The settlement class: “All persons residing in Pennsylvania who ordered or reserved a firearm online from www.sportsmansguide.com from January 11, 2021, to and through July 7, 2026.” Three things follow. You had to be a Pennsylvania resident at the time; the order or reservation had to be placed through the website; and it had to be a firearm — ammunition, optics and clothing do not count. Online firearm sales are completed through a licensed dealer, so “ordered or reserved” covers the online step, not the transfer at the counter.

The payment: “you will receive up to a $145.00 payment. This award may be subject to pro rata adjustment depending on the number of valid claims that are filed.” No receipt or order number is demanded by the FAQ — a claim form is. Payment comes “in the form of a check, Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle, at your election,” within 30 days after final approval and any appeals, and “will expire and become void 90 days after issuance if not cashed prior to that date.”

Where the $1,015,000 goes

The fund is “up to $1,015,000.00,” and the FAQ lists what comes out of it: class members’ payments, administration, notice, attorneys’ fees “inclusive of litigation costs,” and a service award. Class counsel — Philip L. Fraietta and Stephen A. Beck of Bursor & Fisher, P.A. — may seek “no more than one-third of the Settlement Fund,” which is $338,333; Mr. DeLong may seek $5,000. The site does not state the notice and administration budget or the number of class members.

Our arithmetic, for scale: with fees and the service award at their maximums, about $671,700 is left before administration. At the $145 cap, that pays roughly 4,600 claims. If more valid claims come in, everyone’s $145 shrinks pro rata; if fewer do, the cap holds — the FAQ describes a ceiling, not a floor, so unclaimed money does not push a payment above $145. Whether the cap holds depends on how many of an unpublished number of Pennsylvania customers file.

Sportsman’s Warehouse settled the same theory for $4.5 million — its hearing is today

This is the second Pennsylvania settlement of 2026 built on the same two statutes. Petris v. Sportsman’s Warehouse (No. 25-CV-06320) settled for $4,500,000 for Pennsylvanians who ordered a firearm on sportsmans.com for in-store pickup between January 1, 2020 and March 13, 2024; ClaimDepot put the estimated payment at up to $107, claims closed June 19, 2026, and the final approval hearing is scheduled for September 3, 2026 — today. The Sportsman’s Guide fund is less than a quarter of that size, yet its per-person cap is higher, which says something about the relative size of the two customer lists in Pennsylvania rather than about the strength of either case.

Dates, addresses, and one discrepancy on the official site

  • Claim deadline: October 5, 2026 — online by 11:59 p.m. Eastern, or postmarked. File at PASportsmansGuideUFAsettlement.com (administrator: Simpluris).
  • Opt out or object: September 21, 2026. Exclusion requests go by mail to Sportsman’s Guide UFA Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958, and must include your name, address, signature, the case name and number, and a statement that you want out.
  • Final approval hearing: October 28, 2026, Delaware County Courthouse, 201 West Front Street, Media, PA 19063, before Judge George A. Pagano. The FAQ says 9:00 a.m.; the site’s Important Dates page says 9:30 a.m. Check the site or call before attending — the FAQ itself warns the hearing “may be postponed to a different date or time without notice.”
  • Questions: administrator (833) 421-7356 or info@PASportsmansGuideUFAsettlement.com; class counsel (646) 837-7150. The site asks that nobody contact the court.
