You Moved and Your Blue Cross Settlement Payment Didn't Follow. We Read the Official FAQ: There Is No Address-Change Form at All.

Payments in the Blue Cross Blue Shield subscriber settlement started going out May 11, 2026, in waves — some as paper checks, some as emailed prepaid cards. We checked all 50-plus questions on the court-authorized FAQ for what happens when a check goes to an old address. The answer is that the FAQ does not address it, which makes one phone number the entire remedy.

By Settlement Insight Data Desk · August 18, 2026

The question the official site does not answer

People are searching for a very specific thing right now: some version of “BCBS settlement, I moved, how do I update my address.” It is a reasonable question with an unsatisfying answer, and we would rather give you the unsatisfying true one than the confident false one.

We went through the court-authorized FAQ at bcbssettlement.com on August 18, 2026, looking specifically for guidance on changing a mailing address, undeliverable or returned checks, missing payments, reissuing a check, and how long a check stays valid.

None of those topics is covered. The FAQ handles eligibility, the original claim deadline, how payments were calculated and the structure of the settlement. It stops at the point where the money leaves the administrator. There is no address-update form, no self-service portal for changing where your payment goes, and no published policy on what happens to mail that bounces.

That absence is the useful finding, because it tells you that every third-party page offering to “update your BCBS settlement address” is offering something the official settlement does not have. Given that this settlement has already attracted phishing built around its real notification email, that matters more than usual.

What the site does document

Here is the verified ground truth, all from the official site:

  • Payments began May 11, 2026. FAQ 49, verbatim: “The initial distribution of payments to Damages Class Members with valid claims will be sent starting May 11, 2026.” Note the word initial — distribution runs in waves, not on a single day. Not having been paid yet does not by itself mean something went wrong.
  • There is a claim-status lookup. The site directs class members: “if you know your Claim Number or Unique ID, you may visit the Check Your Claim Status page.” It lives at secure.bcbssettlement.com/claimstatus and was live when we checked on August 18, 2026. This is the first thing to try — it is the only self-service tool the settlement offers.
  • Two payment methods. Some class members receive a paper check; others receive a virtual prepaid card by email. The site says card recipients “receive an email from distribution@BCBSsettlement.com… with instructions to redeem their Card,” redeemable at settlementpayment.choicepaymenthub.com.
  • The administrator is JND Legal Administration: phone (888) 681-1142, email info@BCBSsettlement.com, mail Blue Cross Blue Shield Settlement, c/o JND Legal Administration, PO Box 91390, Seattle, WA 98111.

One thing you cannot do, so you do not waste the phone call: the claim deadline passed on November 5, 2021. This is a distribution problem, not an enrollment opportunity. If you never filed a claim in 2021, moving house is not what stands between you and a payment.

The one channel that exists — and how to use it properly

Because the FAQ documents no mechanism, the administrator's contact line is the mechanism. That is not a workaround we invented; it is what the official site itself points to for anything it does not answer.

If you filed a claim and have moved since, call (888) 681-1142 or write to info@BCBSsettlement.com. Two things make that contact far more likely to work:

1. Look up your Claim Number or Unique ID first. The status page requires it, and the administrator will too. It is on the notice or confirmation you received when you filed in 2021. Calling without it turns a two-minute call into an identity-verification problem.

2. Check your status before you call. The lookup may show your payment as issued, in a later wave, or still under review. Those three states need completely different conversations, and knowing which one you are in is the difference between “please reissue to my new address” and “please tell me why my claim is flagged.”

If you chose the prepaid-card option, note that a move does not affect you at all — the card is delivered by email. Search your inbox and spam folder for distribution@BCBSsettlement.com before assuming anything is lost. That address is legitimate; we verified it against the official site, and it is worth knowing precisely because it looks like the kind of address a scammer would invent.

The general rule this illustrates

This is worth generalizing, because the BCBS settlement will not be the last one to catch you mid-move.

Class settlements collect your address once — at the moment you file — and then pay out years later. In this case the gap is roughly four and a half years: claims closed November 2021, money moved May 2026. Almost no settlement builds a self-service address-change tool for that gap, because the administrator's engagement with you is designed to end when the claim is accepted.

The practical habit: when you file any class action claim, save the claim number somewhere that survives a move — not in a drawer, and not only in an email account you might abandon. It is the single credential that makes you findable later, and in a settlement with no address-change form it is worth considerably more than the notice itself.

And when a payment does not arrive, work in this order: check the status lookup, then check your email for a prepaid card, then call the administrator with your claim number. Skipping to step three without steps one and two is why people spend an hour on hold to learn their payment is scheduled for a later wave.

  • Source: bcbssettlement.com — court-authorized settlement website for the Blue Cross Blue Shield subscriber antitrust settlement. Homepage and full FAQ page retrieved August 18, 2026. Verbatim FAQ 49: “The initial distribution of payments to Damages Class Members with valid claims will be sent starting May 11, 2026.” Homepage source of the claim-status instruction (“if you know your Claim Number or Unique ID, you may visit the Check Your Claim Status page”), the prepaid-card language (recipients “receive an email from distribution@BCBSsettlement.com… with instructions to redeem their Card”), the redemption site settlementpayment.choicepaymenthub.com, and the administrator contact details (JND Legal Administration, (888) 681-1142, info@BCBSsettlement.com, PO Box 91390, Seattle, WA 98111). Original claim deadline of November 5, 2021 taken from the FAQ.
  • Source: Verified absence — the central finding of this article: the official FAQ contains no answer covering address changes after a move, undeliverable or returned checks, missing payments, check reissues, or how long a check remains valid. We searched the FAQ specifically for each of these five topics on August 18, 2026 and found none of them addressed. Readers should note this is a statement about what the FAQ documents, not a claim that the administrator will refuse to help — only that no published self-service procedure exists.
  • Source: secure.bcbssettlement.com/claimstatus — confirmed reachable (HTTP 200) and serving the “Blue Cross Blue Shield Online Claim” status form on August 18, 2026.
  • Source: No procedure for updating an address is asserted in this article beyond contacting the administrator through the official channels above, because none is published. Any third-party site offering a BCBS settlement “address update” service is not operating on behalf of the settlement.
  • Source: Payment-wave behaviour (“initial distribution” implying subsequent waves) is read directly from the FAQ’s own wording; the settlement website does not publish a schedule of later distribution dates.
