Louis Vuitton Lawsuit: The Data Breach Class Action, and the Cases That Are Not About You

Three different things travel under “Louis Vuitton lawsuit.” The one that concerns customers is the Louis Vuitton data breach: a client database was accessed on June 7, 2025, and class actions followed in federal court in New York. As of October 12, 2026 there is no settlement, no claim form and no deadline. The Molly Tea ruling in China and a $584 million counterfeit judgment in Georgia are Louis Vuitton suing others — no consumer gets money from either.

What the Louis Vuitton Data Breach Lawsuits Say
According to the complaints, an unauthorized third party gained access to a database containing client data on June 7, 2025. Louis Vuitton became aware of the incident on July 2, 2025 and began mailing U.S. notice letters on August 22, 2025. The breach was first disclosed as affecting more than 419,000 customers in South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Italy and Sweden; U.S. notices followed, including 23,570 Texas residents and 17,615 Washington residents, per those states’ breach directories as reported by The Fashion Law.
The complaints list names, contact information, addresses, dates of birth, passport numbers and government ID numbers; one complaint adds driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers. The later suit alleges the attack was voice phishing against Louis Vuitton’s Salesforce database, and that the company ignored a Salesforce warning published March 12, 2025 and a Google threat-intelligence warning of June 4. It alleges Louis Vuitton failed to restrict network access, enable multi-factor authentication or use Salesforce Shield. These are allegations; no court has ruled on them.
Case Details
The Louis Vuitton class action cases are in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. One of the earlier cases is Godinez v. Louis Vuitton North America, Inc., No. 1:25-cv-07280, filed September 2, 2025 (negligence, negligence per se and other counts). A later suit, Winkler, et al. v. Louis Vuitton North America Inc., No. 1:26-cv-00702, is a 48-page complaint seeking a nationwide class, pleading negligence, breach of implied contract and the Maryland Consumer Protection Act.
On December 16, 2025 the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation refused to fold these cases into a multi-company Salesforce MDL (MDL No. 3164). Louis Vuitton had opposed transfer, and the panel named the Southern District of New York as the hub for the Louis Vuitton cases. Our Salesforce data breach page explains that decision; this page covers only Louis Vuitton.

Who Is in the Proposed Class
The suits seek a class of people in the United States whose information was compromised in the Louis Vuitton data breach. You do not register to be included: if a class is certified or a settlement is approved, you are in it unless you opt out by the deadline in the official notice.
The practical test is the letter. Notices from Louis Vuitton North America began going out August 22, 2025. If you received one, keep it and the envelope — it states which data was involved and is your proof of membership. Buying from Louis Vuitton alone does not put you in the class; being in the affected database does.

Three Things to Watch For
The stolen fields — names, contact details, dates of birth, ID numbers — are exactly what a convincing fake needs:
“Claim your Louis Vuitton settlement” sites
There is no Louis Vuitton data breach settlement and no claims portal. A page asking for your passport or Social Security number to “reserve your payment” is collecting data, not filing a claim.
Messages that quote your own details
Because names, addresses and dates of birth were taken, a fake “Louis Vuitton client service” email or call can sound genuine. Do not click links or call numbers in an unexpected message; verify through the official Louis Vuitton website instead.
“Share the $584 million” or Molly Tea payouts
Posts suggesting shoppers can claim part of the counterfeit judgment or the Molly Tea damages are false: in both cases Louis Vuitton is the plaintiff and the only party entitled to the money.
Louis Vuitton Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Louis Vuitton data breach settlement?
No. As of October 12, 2026 the class actions in the Southern District of New York are pending with no settlement, no fund, no claim form and no deadline. If that changes, an official administrator will notify class members directly.
How do I know if I was affected by the Louis Vuitton data breach?
Check your mail and email for a notice from Louis Vuitton North America; letters began August 22, 2025. The notice lists which of your data was involved. A purchase alone does not mean your record was in the accessed database.
What data was stolen?
The complaints list names, contact information, addresses, dates of birth, passport numbers and government ID numbers. The Winkler complaint also mentions driver’s license numbers and partial Social Security numbers. Your own notice is the authority on your record.
What is the Molly Tea Louis Vuitton lawsuit?
A trademark case in China. On June 29, 2026 the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court found that the Molly Tea chain’s four-petal flower logo infringed seven Louis Vuitton trademarks and ordered it to pay 10.3 million yuan (10 million in damages, 300,000 in costs), stop using the logo and publish a correction. Molly Tea has said it will appeal. It has nothing to do with customers or the data breach.
What was the $584 million Louis Vuitton counterfeit award?
A default judgment entered September 22, 2025 by Judge Victoria Marie Calvert of the Northern District of Georgia against Westgate Discount Mall, an Atlanta flea market accused of enabling counterfeit sales, based on 292 Louis Vuitton trademarks. Louis Vuitton filed that case in April 2023. The money is owed to Louis Vuitton, and The Fashion Law reported that collecting the full sum is unlikely.
Is the Louis Vuitton case part of the Salesforce MDL?
No. On December 16, 2025 the JPML refused to create a combined Salesforce MDL, finding each breach was a social engineering attack on a customer, “not an exploit of Salesforce itself.” The Louis Vuitton cases proceed on their own in New York.
Do I have to sign up to join the Louis Vuitton class action?
No. You are included in a certified class or settlement automatically unless you opt out. There is nothing to register for now; anyone charging a fee to “join” is not a court administrator.
What should I do right now?
Keep your notice letter. If passport or ID numbers were involved, watch for accounts opened in your name and consider a free credit freeze at all three bureaus. Treat unexpected Louis Vuitton messages that ask for ID numbers or payment as suspect.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
