There is no single Jeep lawsuit. As of September 30, 2026, Jeep’s maker FCA US (a Stellantis company) faces class actions in Michigan federal court over plug-in hybrid battery fires and under-hood fires in Wranglers and Gladiators — none of them settled, none with a claim form. The latest news is regulatory: on September 29, 2026 NHTSA closed its fire probe after a recall of nearly 1.08 million Wranglers and Gladiators. The one Jeep class action with money and a deadline right now is narrower: a warranty settlement for 3.6L vehicles from California and ten other states, with claims due October 12, 2026.

What the Jeep Lawsuits Are About
Three separate problems drive the current Jeep class action filings, and each has its own recall.
1. 4xe high-voltage batteries. The Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrids have been recalled three times for the same risk: per NHTSA, “the high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.” The owners’ lawsuits allege the defect is not only dangerous but, in the words of a federal judge summarising the complaint, “has deprived them of the benefit of the hybrid functionality and full purchase value of their vehicles.”
2. Power-steering pump wiring. On 2021–2025 Wranglers (gas and 4xe) and Gladiators, NHTSA’s recall record says the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring “may overheat and cause a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is parked with the ignition in the ‘Off’ position.”
3. 4xe engine debris. A separate recall on 2023–2025 Grand Cherokee 4xe and 2024–2025 Wrangler 4xe says debris inside the engine can cause engine failure, loss of drive power or an engine compartment fire.
These are allegations and recall descriptions; FCA US has not been found liable in any of the lawsuits.
Case Details
4xe battery class action: Frisch et al. v. FCA US LLC, No. 2:24-cv-10546, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Judge Brandy R. McMillion. It covers 2020–2024 Wrangler 4xe and 2022–2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe owners.
Battery and steering-pump suit: Bailey, et al. v. FCA US LLC, No. 2:26-cv-12834, same court. Top Class Actions reports it alleges both defects and claims under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Florida’s consumer-protection law. The same outlet reports a separate 2026 suit against FCA and a dealership, Doug Smith Autoplex.
Under-hood fire class action: Graves v. FCA US, LLC, No. 2:24-cv-12968, same court, Judge Judith E. Levy, filed November 7, 2024, per plaintiffs’ counsel Hagens Berman.
Open settlement: Regueiro v. FCA US LLC, No. 2:22-cv-05521, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California — details in our report on the FCA warranty settlement.
Closed settlement: the “death wobble” case, Reynolds v. FCA US, LLC, Eastern District of Michigan, approved by Judge Mark A. Goldsmith in June 2023.

Which Jeep Owners Are Affected
2020–2025 Wrangler 4xe, 2022–2026 Grand Cherokee 4xe: battery-fire recall 25V-741 (320,068 vehicles). The battery lawsuits are brought for owners of these models.
2024–2025 Wrangler 4xe, 2023–2025 Grand Cherokee 4xe: also engine recall 25V-766 (117,904 vehicles).
2021–2025 Wrangler (gas or 4xe) and Gladiator: steering-pump fire recall 26V-363 (1,076,999 vehicles) and the under-hood fire suits.
2015–2020 Wrangler or Grand Cherokee with the 3.6L engine, bought or leased in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington: the open Regueiro settlement.
2018–2020 Wrangler, 2020 Gladiator: the settled death-wobble case.
2026 Jeeps: a rearview-camera software recall, covered on our Stellantis camera recall page.
You do not sign up for a proposed class action. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls for the recalls; if a class is certified or settles, notice comes from a court-appointed administrator.
Does a Jeep Owner Get Money?
FCA warranty settlement: reimbursement with proof. Regueiro does not pay a flat amount. It extends coverage on the Valve Rocker Arm, Valve Stem Oil Seal and Valve Tappet to the earlier of seven years from the in-service date or 70,000 miles, and reimburses a past qualifying repair you paid for, on proof of payment. No reimbursement is issued until after final approval and any appeals. For most 2015–2020 vehicles the seven-year window has already passed — our report walks through the arithmetic.
Death wobble: the 2023 settlement was worth about $30 million in benefits, mainly a steering-damper warranty of 8 years or 90,000 miles from first sale plus reimbursement of past dealer damper replacements.
A Jeep that actually burned is a different matter: garage, home or injury losses are individual insurance and liability claims, not part of any recall. The Regueiro release expressly does not cover death, personal injury or property other than the vehicle. See our fire damage claim calculator for how property claims are valued.

Three Things to Watch For
Big recalls plus a real settlement deadline make Jeep owners an easy target:
“Claim your Jeep 4xe settlement”
There is no 4xe battery or steering-pump settlement as of September 30, 2026. A page asking for your VIN, driver’s license or Social Security number to “reserve your payout” is collecting data, not filing a claim.
A “recall fee” or paid battery swap
Every recall here is repaired free at a dealer. Verify a letter by your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls or FCA customer service, 1-800-853-1403 — not the number in an unexpected text.
Look-alike FCA warranty settlement sites
The only official site for the Regueiro settlement is fcawarrantysettlement.com, and filing is free. Nobody legitimate charges a fee to submit a claim or to “expedite” one before the October 12, 2026 deadline.
Jeep Class Action — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Jeep class action settlement I can claim right now?
One, and it is narrow: the FCA valve-train warranty settlement (Regueiro v. FCA US LLC) for 2015–2020 vehicles with the 3.6L engine, including Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, bought or leased in California or ten other states. Claims are due October 12, 2026 through fcawarrantysettlement.com. The 4xe battery and steering-pump cases have no settlement.
My Wrangler 4xe or Grand Cherokee 4xe is under recall. What should I do?
Follow the recall advice: park outside and away from structures and do not charge until the remedy is completed on your vehicle. If your 4xe was repaired under recall 23V-787 or 24V-720, NHTSA says it still needs the newer 25V-741 remedy. Check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
What is the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator steering pump fire recall?
Recall 26V-363 covers 1,076,999 2021–2025 Wranglers (gas and 4xe) and Gladiators. The power-steering pump wiring can overheat and start a fire even with the vehicle parked and off. Park outside until repaired; dealers inspect and replace the wiring and pump free of charge. Owner letters were expected from July 9, 2026.
Can I join the Jeep lawsuit over 4xe battery fires?
There is nothing to join. Frisch and Bailey are proposed class actions; if a class is certified or a settlement is reached, members are notified by a court-appointed administrator. Signing with a law firm is a retainer, not registration — read it first.
Is there still a Jeep death wobble lawsuit?
The main case settled. Reynolds v. FCA US was approved in June 2023 for 2018–2020 Wrangler and 2020 Gladiator buyers: steering-damper repairs for 8 years or 90,000 miles from the date the vehicle was first sold, whichever comes first. That window runs from first sale, so for a Wrangler first sold in 2018 it closes during 2026, and for any sold earlier it has already closed.
Didn't the arbitration clause stop these lawsuits?
Not in Frisch. FCA’s warranty booklets contain an arbitration clause with a 30-day opt-out, but on June 5, 2025 the court denied FCA’s motion to compel arbitration. That ruling covers that case; it is not a finding on the merits.
My Jeep caught fire. Does a recall or lawsuit pay for the damage?
No recall pays for damage, and the class actions do not yet pay anything. Keep photos, the fire report, your insurer’s file and your recall letter. Injury and property losses are individual claims — talk to your insurer and a lawyer in your state.
Is the Jeep rearview camera recall part of a lawsuit?
No lawsuit is tied to it that we know of. NHTSA now lists it as recall 26V-531 (844,027 vehicles), covering 2026 Jeeps and other Stellantis models; the fix is a free radio software update at a dealer or over the air. Background on our camera recall page.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
