Two different things are in the news under “Jake Paul lawsuit.” One pays money: Paul agreed to a $200,000 settlement in the SafeMoon crypto class action, and claims are due November 9, 2026. The other is new: former champion Heather Hardy sued Paul and his promotion company on September 23, 2026, alleging a 2023 fight left her with a permanent brain injury. Only SafeMoon buyers can claim anything.

What Each Case Alleges
SafeMoon class action. Investors sued SafeMoon, its executives and several celebrity promoters, including Jake Paul, over the SFM token. The lawsuit alleges the promoters talked up the token to their audiences while it was being sold, and that buyers lost money when it collapsed. Paul has not admitted wrongdoing; he agreed to settle the claims against him for $200,000 in cash.
Hardy v. Paul. The complaint alleges that Paul, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Holden Boxing and Bryce Holden improperly negotiated Heather Hardy’s rematch with Amanda Serrano on August 5, 2023 in Dallas, on the undercard of Paul vs. Nate Diaz. It alleges she took 278 punches, 242 of them within a 20-minute span, and pleads negligence and violations of the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. MVP denies the claims and says Hardy was medically cleared by the athletic commission overseeing the event.
SEC touting order. Separately, the SEC found that Paul promoted the Tron token TRX on February 12, 2021 without disclosing that he was paid crypto worth about $25,019.
Case Details
SafeMoon: Combs v. SafeMoon LLC, No. 2:22-cv-00642, U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, filed October 5, 2022, before Judge David Barlow. Settlement details are on the court-authorized site, safemoonsettlement.com. SafeMoon US itself is in Chapter 7 bankruptcy, Case No. 23-25749 (Bankr. D. Utah).
Hardy: Hardy v. Paul et al., No. 3:26-cv-03231, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, filed September 23, 2026. It seeks $10 million in damages.
SEC: In the Matter of Jake Joseph Paul, Administrative Proceeding File No. 3-21347, Release No. 11171, dated March 22, 2023 — an agency order, not a court case.
Status as of October 2026
Hardy v. Paul: complaint stage. As of October 2026 the case is at the complaint stage. The allegations are unproven, there is no ruling, and it is a personal suit by one boxer — there is nothing for anyone else to join.
SEC: closed. The order was entered March 22, 2023 on Paul's offer of settlement. The six celebrities who settled that day paid more than $400,000 combined, without admitting or denying the findings.
Don't miss the claim deadline
Claims are due by November 9, 2026. We'll email you 7 days and 1 day before the deadline.
Who Can Claim From the Paul Settlement
The Jake Paul settlement class covers people who, from March 8, 2021 through November 1, 2023, either bought SFM tokens directly from Jake Paul, or saw a solicitation for SFM tokens that Paul published and bought SFM because of it.
The Paul settlement needs its own claim. The site says that if you want a share of the Paul or Keem settlement funds, you must file a separate claim for each. A claim in the larger SafeMoon trustee settlement, or a proof of claim in the bankruptcy case, does not cover it.
File through the “File a Claim” link on the official site, or by mail postmarked no later than November 9, 2026. If you are in the class and did not opt out by October 1, 2026, you are bound by the settlement whether or not you file.
How Much the Paul Settlement Pays
The Hardy case has no settlement, no fund and no claim form; it is one boxer's personal-injury suit. The SEC order did not create a claims process for Tron investors.
How cases like this one end
Our copy of the federal courts’ own case database covers 24,037 other fraud casesclosed in U.S. federal district courts between 2015 and 2025, 27.4% of them filed as class actions:
- 17.3% ended in a settlement recorded by the court. Another 22.5% were dismissed voluntarily, which often follows a private settlement — so the real settlement share sits between 17.3% and 39.8%.
- 10.4% were decided on a motion before any trial.
- 1 in 111 reached a trial (0.9%), after a median of 30 months.
- Median time from filing to the end of the case: 7 months.
- Only 735 of them (3.1%) record a money award at all; the median of those is $663,000.

Three Things to Watch For
A celebrity name plus a crypto refund is exactly what scammers look for:
Requests for your seed phrase or wallet connection
A settlement claim asks about your purchases. No legitimate claim form needs your wallet's recovery phrase or private key, or asks you to “connect your wallet” to a site to get paid. Anyone asking for that wants to empty your wallet.
“Crypto recovery” firms
Companies offering to recover your SafeMoon losses for an upfront fee are not part of the settlement. Filing a claim is free on the official site, and the court-appointed lead counsel already represents the class.
Fake Jake Paul payout accounts
Impersonator accounts may promise a “Jake Paul settlement airdrop” if you first send crypto. The settlement pays from a court-supervised fund after final approval. It never asks you to send crypto first.
Jake Paul Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Which Jake Paul lawsuit is in the news right now?
Mostly the Heather Hardy case, filed September 23, 2026 in the Northern District of Texas. It seeks $10 million and alleges a 2023 fight on an MVP card left her with permanent neurological injuries. The other active case is the SafeMoon class action, where a $200,000 settlement with Paul goes to a final approval hearing on October 22, 2026.
Can I get money from the Jake Paul SafeMoon settlement?
Only if you are in the class: from March 8, 2021 through November 1, 2023, you bought SFM directly from Paul, or bought it because of a solicitation he published. If so, file a claim on the official site by November 9, 2026.
I already filed in the SafeMoon bankruptcy. Am I covered?
Not for Paul's settlement. A bankruptcy proof of claim filed by July 22, 2024 can stand in for the trustee settlement claim. The official site says the Paul and Keem settlements each need a separate claim.
How much will each person get?
Nobody knows yet. The fund is $200,000 before fees and expenses, divided among valid claims. Payment can only start after the court grants final approval.
Can I still opt out or object?
No. The deadline to opt out of or object to the Paul settlement was October 1, 2026. You can still file a claim until November 9, 2026.
Did Jake Paul admit anything?
No. The SafeMoon settlement resolves allegations without a finding against him. In the SEC matter, the findings were made on his offer of settlement, and he neither admitted nor denied them. The Hardy allegations are unproven, and MVP denies them.
Can I join the Heather Hardy lawsuit?
No. It is an individual personal-injury suit, not a class action. There is no class, fund or claim form.
Is a letter or email about the Paul settlement real?
Compare it with safemoonsettlement.com, the court-authorized site, and file only there. Ignore anything that asks for a fee, a seed phrase or a crypto deposit. For other open claims, see our list of open settlements.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
