Most people searching for a Honda lawsuit are looking at one of two things. None of them has a settlement or a claim form. What the Honda Lawsuits Allege
Each case covers different vehicles. Everything below is an allegation, not a finding.
Idle stop (settled). Owners alleged that on certain Acura TLX and MDX and Honda Pilot, Passport and Ridgeline models the engine may not restart when the driver releases the brake after an automatic idle stop, leaving the vehicle temporarily undrivable. Honda denies the feature is defective and says a software update and a warranty extension address it.
Front camera (filed June 8, 2026). The complaint alleges that a flaw in the front camera of 2018–2025 Odyssey, HR-V, Clarity, Civic and Pilot models can make every Honda Sensing feature that relies on it fail at once — collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist — with a “cascade” of dashboard warnings.
Odyssey starting system (filed June 2, 2026). The complaint alleges that 2018–2025 Odyssey batteries do not charge adequately, so the engine can shut off at an idle stop or fail to restart after parking, and that Odyssey drivers got only a software update, without the replacement starters and extended warranties Honda gave other models.
White paint (filed May 22, 2026). The complaint alleges that four white paint colors on Honda and Acura vehicles from 2013 on bubble, peel, chip and delaminate under normal conditions.
Motorcycles and EVs. One complaint says Honda recalled 2024–2026 CBR600RR motorcycles for excessive oil consumption but gave riders no immediate repair; another alleges a front drive axle defect in the 2024–2026 Honda Prologue.

Idle Stop settlement: In re Honda Idle Stop Litigation, No. 2:22-cv-04252-MCS-SK, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, before Judge Mark C. Scarsi. The final approval order was entered on May 20, 2026.
New cases, all in the Central District of California unless noted: Jones et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., No. 2:26-cv-06222 (front camera, filed June 8, 2026); Bodney et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., et al., No. 2:26-cv-05939 (Odyssey starting system, filed June 2, 2026, also naming Honda Motor Co., Ltd.); Attika et al. v. American Honda Motor Company, Inc., No. 2:26-cv-05532 (white paint, filed May 22, 2026); Phillips v. American Honda Motor Company, Inc., No. 8:26-cv-01727 (CBR600RR, filed July 3, 2026); and Custer et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., No. 2:26-cv-01330, in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (Prologue axles, filed March 2, 2026).
Regulators: NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation opened Engineering Analysis EA25004 into idle-stop no-restart complaints, and the California Privacy Protection Agency fined American Honda in 2025 over consumer privacy requests.
Status on September 30, 2026: New Suits, No New Settlements
Idle Stop settlement: final approval, one rolling claim window left. The past-cost deadline was August 18, 2026, 90 days after the May 20, 2026 final approval order. Costs incurred after the class notice — towing after a no-restart, for example — can still be claimed, but each one within 60 days of the expense. The federal investigation. NHTSA opened EA25004 on March 26, 2025, covering an estimated 2,209,466 Honda and Acura vehicles. It found that complaints kept coming “with many complainants alleging the campaign countermeasures had been completed.” An investigation is not a recall and pays nothing.
We found no other Honda or Acura vehicle settlement taking claims. Honda's own settlement site still lists only the idle stop, infotainment, HandsFreeLink and Acura oil consumption cases, and the last three are years old.

Who Is Covered by Which Case
Idle Stop settlement: anyone who bought or leased, in the United States, a 2015–2020 Acura TLX, 2016–2020 Acura MDX, 2016–2021 Honda Pilot, 2019–2021 Honda Passport or 2020–2021 Honda Ridgeline with the NP0 engine, nine-speed automatic transmission and Auto Idle Stop. The Odyssey is not a class vehicle. Class members were included automatically; the opt-out deadlines (September 12, 2025, and April 22, 2026 for some 2020 MDX owners) have passed.
2026 lawsuits: the proposed classes include all U.S. buyers and lessees of a 2018–2025 Odyssey, HR-V, Clarity, Civic or Pilot (front camera) and all current and former owners or lessees of a 2018–2025 Odyssey (starting system). A proposed class is what the plaintiffs ask for; a judge still has to certify it. There is nothing to sign up for.
Recalls are separate. Check your VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls. Recall 23V751, for example, covers certain 2015–2020 Acura TLX, 2016–2020 Acura MDX, 2016 and 2018–2019 Pilot, 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline and 2018–2019 Odyssey vehicles whose connecting-rod bearings may wear and seize; dealers inspect and repair or replace the engine free of charge.

The deadline for past idle-stop costs was August 18, 2026, and nobody can reopen it for a fee. Its listed email address ends in @ahm.honda.com; treat a message from another domain asking for bank details with suspicion and call the listed number.
“Claim your Honda camera payout” pages
The front camera, Odyssey, white paint, CBR600RR and Prologue cases are lawsuits, not settlements. A page asking for your VIN, driver's license or Social Security number to “secure your share” is collecting data. Takata money and paid recall “fixes”

Is there a Honda Odyssey lawsuit over the van not starting?
Yes. Bodney et al. v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., et al., No. 2:26-cv-05939 (C.D. Cal.), filed June 2, 2026, seeks to represent current and former owners and lessees of 2018–2025 Odysseys. Can I still claim from Honda's Takata or ZF-TRW airbag cases?
Takata: no. The official Takata settlement website states that the claim deadline for Honda vehicles was August 2, 2022. ZF-TRW: American Honda and Acura are among the defendants in the airbag control unit litigation that began in 2019. What about older Honda settlements: infotainment, HandsFreeLink, Acura oil consumption?
These are older cases. The Honda and Acura infotainment settlements (2018–2019 Odyssey, 2019 Pilot and Passport, 2019–2020 Acura RDX) are final, and benefits for timely claims began going out in May 2022. The Acura HandsFreeLink settlement (Aberin v. American Honda Motor Co., N.D. Cal. No. 16-cv-04384-JST) took claims until May 30, 2024. The Acura J37 oil consumption settlement was finally approved on November 20, 2020, with a warranty extension of up to 8 years or 125,000 miles from the original sale.
