Most people searching for a “fairlife lawsuit” right now are looking for the ransomware case. On July 16, 2026, Coca-Cola disclosed a ransomware attack at fairlife, its dairy company, and current and former employees have since filed a proposed class action. Two older cases are about the milk itself: a 2025 label suit in Los Angeles, and the 2022 $21 million Fairlife settlement, which is closed. As of October 5, 2026, none of the three has an open claim form.

The Three Cases, One by One
1. The ransomware attack (employees). Coca-Cola told the SEC on July 16, 2026 that fairlife had identified “unauthorized access by a third party to a portion of its systems, including its production-related systems, in connection with a ransomware event.” U.S. production was suspended; Canadian production was not affected, and the company said product quality and safety were not affected. Its quarterly report filed July 29, 2026 added that the intruder took “certain data” and that a majority of production had resumed. Current and former Coca-Cola and fairlife employees then sued. The lawsuit alleges that their names and Social Security numbers were exposed and that the companies “failed to properly maintain and implement security practices.”
2. The 2025 label case (shoppers). On February 26, 2025, shoppers filed a proposed class action alleging that fairlife's animal-care and sustainability marketing is false, citing undercover footage from supplying dairies, and that its “Recycle Me” bottles are not recyclable — the complaint puts the figure at 0%.
3. The 2022 Fairlife settlement (shoppers). After undercover reports from a supplying farm in Indiana, a group of consumer cases were combined in Chicago and settled for $21 million. That settlement is closed.
Case Details
Ransomware suit: a proposed class action in federal court in Atlanta, according to news reports. We could not verify the docket number or the judge as of October 5, 2026.
Label case: Bhotiwihok v. Fairlife, LLC, No. 2:25-cv-01650, U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, before Judge Otis D. Wright II. Defendants were fairlife, The Coca-Cola Company and Select Milk Producers.
2022 settlement: In re Fairlife Milk Products Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, MDL No. 2909, No. 1:19-cv-03924, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, before Judge Robert M. Dow Jr. The preliminary approval order named Epiq as claims administrator.
Status as of October 5, 2026: No Open Claim Form
Label case: reported resolved. In a ruling of February 13, 2026, Judge Wright held that the logo — the words “fair life” over a cartoon cow — could lead a shopper to believe the cows are “living lives free from abuse,” let those claims proceed, dismissed Coca-Cola with leave to amend, and threw out the recyclability claims for good. According to Animal Recovery Mission, the group whose undercover footage the case relied on, the case was resolved on May 13, 2026 under a confidential stipulation. We could not check the terms against the court docket, and we found no class settlement, fund or claims process.
2022 Fairlife settlement: closed. Final approval came on September 28, 2022, and the claim deadline was December 27, 2022.

Who Is Affected
Current and former fairlife or Coca-Cola employees. The ransomware suit is brought on their behalf. You do not sign up for a proposed class. If a class is certified or a settlement is reached, notice goes out to members directly. If you receive a breach letter, keep it — it states what was exposed and helps prove membership.
People who bought fairlife milk. The 2025 label case ended in 2026 without a class settlement that we could find, so there is nothing to join. The 2022 settlement covered purchases made on or before April 27, 2022, and its claim deadline has passed.
Everyone else. Drinking fairlife or Core Power does not by itself put you in any open case. For Coca-Cola's other litigation, see our Coca-Cola lawsuit page.
What Has Been Paid, and What Might Be
For the ransomware suit, as of October 5, 2026 there is no settlement, no fund and no claim form, and no court has valued the claims. Employee data breach cases that do settle usually combine reimbursement of documented losses with a smaller flat payment and credit monitoring — our data breach settlement calculator gives a range from comparable cases, not a prediction for this one.

Three Things to Watch For
A data breach with no claim form, next to an old settlement that did pay, is exactly what imposters work with:
“Claim your fairlife breach payment”
There is no settlement in the ransomware case, so there is nothing to claim. A page or caller asking for your Social Security number to “verify” you as a fairlife or Coca-Cola employee is collecting the same data the lawsuit says was stolen.
Recycled 2022 settlement notices
The $21 million Fairlife settlement closed for claims on December 27, 2022. A message saying you can still file, or that a “second round” is open, did not come from that settlement.
Messages claiming to come from the hackers
A ransomware group publicly threatened to leak the stolen data. Emails or texts that quote your personal details and demand payment to “delete” them are extortion attempts. Do not pay or reply; report them to the FBI at ic3.gov.
Fairlife Lawsuit — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a Fairlife settlement I can file a claim in right now?
No. As of October 5, 2026, none of the cases has an open claim form. The only Fairlife settlement that paid consumers, the $21 million settlement from 2022, stopped taking claims on December 27, 2022.
What is the fairlife ransomware lawsuit about?
Coca-Cola disclosed on July 16, 2026 that fairlife's systems were hit by ransomware, and later said “certain data” was taken. Current and former employees sued in federal court in Atlanta. The lawsuit alleges that names and Social Security numbers were exposed and that the companies failed to protect them.
I only buy fairlife milk. Am I part of the ransomware case?
Not on the facts reported so far. The suit is brought for employees, and the data described is employment data. If you receive a breach notice from fairlife or Coca-Cola, read what it lists and keep it.
Is fairlife milk safe to drink after the cyberattack?
Coca-Cola told the SEC that “product quality and safety have not been impacted.” The attack disrupted production systems, and by its July 29, 2026 quarterly report a majority of production had resumed.
What happened to the 2025 animal-welfare lawsuit?
In February 2026 the judge let the logo claims go forward and dismissed the rest, including the recyclability claims. According to Animal Recovery Mission, the case was resolved on May 13, 2026 under a confidential stipulation. We found no class settlement or claim process.
How much did the 2022 Fairlife settlement pay?
The fund was $21 million. Individual awards were capped at $80 with proof of purchase and $20 without, up to $100 combined, and could rise or fall with the number of claims. Final approval came on September 28, 2022.
Do I need to hire a lawyer or sign up to be included?
No. You do not opt in to a proposed class action. If a class is certified or a settlement is reached, a court-appointed administrator notifies members. Law-firm forms that ask for your details are intake for the firm, not registration with the court.
What should fairlife employees do right now?
Freeze your credit at all three bureaus — it is free and reversible. Watch for tax returns or unemployment claims filed in your name, which is how stolen Social Security numbers often show up. Keep any notice letter you receive.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
