Dapper Labs runs NBA Top Shot, NFL All Day, Disney Pinnacle, UFC Strike and La Liga Golazos. The name is in the news because of a $5 million privacy settlement whose claim deadline was April 15, 2026. Two earlier cases also settled: $7.05 million over the Meta pixel on NBA Top Shot, and $4 million for buyers of Top Shot Moments. As of October 2026, none of the three accepts new claims.

What the Lawsuits Said
There are three separate cases, and they are about different things.
The privacy cases (2023–2026). Two lawsuits alleged that Dapper Labs’ websites passed account holders’ identities, together with the titles of videos they bought or viewed, to advertising platforms through tracking pixels — without the consent required by the federal Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). The first, against NBA Properties and Dapper Labs, targeted the Meta pixel on NBA Top Shot. The second, against Dapper Labs alone, covered five sites and pixels from Meta, Google, Microsoft, Snapchat, X, Reddit and TikTok.
The securities case (2021–2024). Investors alleged that NBA Top Shot Moments — NFTs of NBA highlight clips — were unregistered securities. Dapper Labs denied all wrongdoing in every case and settled without admitting liability.
Case Details
Privacy, five sites: Ohebshalom v. Dapper Labs, Inc., Index No. 615987/2025, Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Nassau (a state trial court), before Judge Lisa A. Cairo. Administrator: Epiq, at DapperVPPAClassActionSettlement.com, 1-888-887-2497.
Privacy, NBA Top Shot and Meta: Fan v. NBA Properties Inc., No. 3:23-cv-05069-SI, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, filed October 3, 2023. Three of its plaintiffs are also plaintiffs in the Nassau case.
Securities: Friel v. Dapper Labs, Inc., No. 1:21-cv-05837-VM, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, before Judge Victor Marrero. Administrator: Strategic Claims Services, at FrielvDapperLabsSettlement.com, (833) 279-8069.
Status: Settled, Claim Windows Closed
$5 million privacy settlement: preliminarily approved December 19, 2025. Claims, opt-outs and objections were due April 15, 2026, the same day as the final approval hearing. We could not find a public record of the ruling or of a payment date; the notice says approved claimants are paid 45 days after final approval and any appeals.
$7.05 million NBA Top Shot settlement: claims were due December 16, 2025; the final approval hearing was set for December 19, 2025. We could not confirm the ruling.
$4 million Moments settlement: claims were due August 30, 2024. Bloomberg Law reported on October 29, 2024 that Judge Marrero had granted final approval.
Who Was Covered
$5 million case: anyone who held an active account on NFL All Day, Disney Pinnacle, UFC Strike, NBA Top Shot or La Liga Golazos from June 15, 2020 through January 30, 2025.
$7.05 million case: people in the United States who had both an NBA Top Shot account and a Facebook account from June 15, 2020 to January 30, 2025.
$4 million case: anyone who purchased or acquired NBA Top Shot Moments from June 15, 2020 to December 27, 2021, including on the secondary market.
You could belong to all three. But in each one, only people who filed a claim by the deadline get money. If you did nothing, you are bound by the settlement and get no payment.
What the Settlements Pay
$5 million privacy settlement: a cash payment of up to $5, paid by Zelle, PayPal or Venmo according to the notice. Fees and costs come out of the fund first. If more than 800,000 people qualify, each gets a pro rata share of the fund instead.
$7.05 million NBA Top Shot settlement: equal shares, estimated at $36 to $122 per claimant according to settlement summaries. The final amount depends on how many claims were filed.
$4 million Moments settlement: an estimated average of $0.12 per Moment for about 33,037,779 Moments, or $0.08 after fees. No check was issued for less than $5.00.

Three Things to Watch For
Crypto collectors with dormant accounts are an easy target, and three expired settlements give scammers a story:
“Connect your wallet to claim”
None of these settlements pays in FLOW, NFTs or any token. Payouts go by Zelle, PayPal, Venmo or check. Anyone asking for a seed phrase, a wallet connection or a token approval is trying to empty your wallet.
“Late claims still accepted”
The deadlines were August 30, 2024, December 16, 2025 and April 15, 2026. A site that takes a Dapper Labs settlement claim now — especially for a fee — is not the administrator. Real administrators never charge to file.
Requests for your Dapper or Facebook password
The claim forms asked for a username, an email or a screenshot as proof of an account — never a password or a 2FA code. An email “verifying your Top Shot payout” that asks you to log in through a link is phishing.
Dapper Labs Settlement — Questions People Actually Ask
Why is the Dapper Labs lawsuit in the news?
Mainly because of the $5 million privacy settlement in Ohebshalom v. Dapper Labs. It covered account holders on five Dapper sites, and its claim deadline and final approval hearing were both on April 15, 2026.
Can I still file a Dapper Labs settlement claim?
No. The deadlines were April 15, 2026 for the $5 million settlement, December 16, 2025 for the $7.05 million NBA Top Shot settlement and August 30, 2024 for the $4 million Moments settlement. To check a claim you already filed, contact that case’s administrator directly.
How much will I get from the $5 million settlement?
Up to $5, if you filed a valid claim. Fees and costs come out of the fund first. If more than 800,000 people qualify, the fund is split pro rata instead. The notice says payment comes 45 days after final approval and any appeals.
Is the Dapper VPPA settlement email real?
The official site is DapperVPPAClassActionSettlement.com, run by Epiq, phone 1-888-887-2497, mail to P.O. Box 4380, Portland, OR 97208-4380. Notices included a unique ID and PIN. Never pay a fee, and never share a password or wallet phrase.
Were NBA Top Shot Moments ruled to be securities?
No. The court never decided that question. The case settled for $4 million, and Dapper Labs denied all wrongdoing. The settlement also included business changes, among them steps related to the Flow blockchain.
I bought Top Shot Moments and had an account. Was I in all three cases?
Possibly. The classes overlap but are separate: buying Moments (June 15, 2020 to December 27, 2021), having an NBA Top Shot account plus a Facebook account, and holding an account on any of the five sites. Each required its own claim.
What is the Video Privacy Protection Act?
A federal law that limits sharing which videos a person rented, bought or watched. Recent class actions argue that tracking pixels sending video titles to ad platforms count as sharing. Dapper Labs denied violating it.
Where can I find settlements that are still open?
All Dapper Labs claim windows have closed. For deadlines still running, see our list of open class action settlements. For crypto-platform litigation, see our Coinbase lawsuit page.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
