Chase Bank Class Action Lawsuit: Cash Sweep Case Pending, No Payout Yet

There is no single Chase Bank class action lawsuit — there are several, and none has settled. The one with the most momentum is the cash sweep case over near-zero interest on idle cash, which survived a dismissal bid in February 2026 and has a court conference on October 21, 2026. Suits over Chase credit card credits and a $328 million crypto Ponzi scheme were voluntarily dismissed in 2026, and a card-fee suit was sent back to Florida state court. As of October 8, 2026 there is no Chase Bank settlement open to consumers, no claim form and no deadline.

What the Chase Bank Lawsuits Say
Four separate lawsuits were filed against Chase in federal court, most of them proposed class actions, each about a different product. Only the cash sweep case is still pending in federal court; the card-credit and Goliath suits were voluntarily dismissed and the fee suit was sent back to state court:
Cash sweep interest. Brokerage and retirement customers were automatically enrolled in Cash Sweep programs. The lawsuit alleges those programs paid 0.01% to 0.03% on idle cash while the federal funds rate rose above 5%, and that this “siphoned billions of dollars in net interest income.” JPMorgan says it followed customers' instructions and calls the claims a bid for a “windfall.”
Credit card credits. A cardholder alleges Chase sold him a one-year card membership for $750 by promising automatic restaurant and music-service credits, then did not apply them.
Goliath crypto Ponzi scheme. Investors allege Chase ignored red flags while about $253 million flowed into a Goliath Ventures account between January 2023 and June 2025, and about $123 million went out to Coinbase wallets. The suit accuses the bank of aiding and abetting a $328 million fraud.
Card fees. A Florida suit is reported to challenge cash-advance fees on Venmo transfers and foreign transaction fees on domestic purchases. These are allegations; no court has found Chase liable in any of them.
Case Details
Cash sweep: Bodea v. JPMorgan Chase & Co., No. 1:24-cv-06404, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, before Judge Lorna G. Schofield. Filed August 23, 2024; related suits were consolidated into it, and the consolidated complaint names JPMorgan Chase & Co. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC. Docket: CourtListener.
Card credits: Sacchi v. JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A., No. 1:25-cv-07632, S.D.N.Y., before Judge Katherine Polk Failla, filed September 15, 2025. A stipulation and order of voluntary dismissal was entered on January 23, 2026; the case is no longer pending.
Goliath: Steele v. JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A., No. 4:26-cv-02067, Northern District of California, before Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., filed March 10, 2026; voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on May 12, 2026, so the claims could be refiled. The related South Florida suit (1:26-cv-21776) was dismissed without prejudice on April 29, 2026 after a notice of voluntary dismissal. The Nevada action named in the same transfer request (2:26-cv-00820) is Logwood v. Bank of America, not a Chase case.
Fees: Doe v. JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., No. 1:26-cv-24587, Southern District of Florida, docketed July 2, 2026. On September 28, 2026 the federal court ruled on a motion to remand to state court and the clerk sent a transmittal letter to the state court, so the case appears to be back in Florida state court.
Status: One Pending Federal Case, No Chase Bank Settlement
The cash sweep case is furthest along. On February 12, 2026 Judge Schofield let the breach-of-contract claims proceed and dismissed the fiduciary-duty claims. An order dated October 6, 2026 moved a court conference to October 21, 2026. No class has been certified; the plaintiffs filed a motion for class certification on June 17, asking the court to certify a class of at least 1.8 million brokerage and retirement account holders.
In the Goliath case, a request to group three suits into MDL No. 3188 was deemed withdrawn on April 30, 2026. The South Florida Goliath suit had been dismissed without prejudice a day earlier, on April 29, 2026, and Steele was voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on May 12, 2026. The card-credit case (Sacchi) ended with a stipulation and order of voluntary dismissal on January 23, 2026; no class settlement was announced. The fee case (Doe) was sent back to state court on September 28, 2026.
The last Chase Bank settlement paid to consumers is old: in 2012 Chase agreed to pay $110 million over overdraft fees. That settlement is closed. Corporate, investor and regulator cases are on our JPMorgan lawsuit hub; Zelle scam claims are on our Zelle lawsuit page.

Who Could Be in Each Proposed Class
Cash sweep: JPMorgan brokerage and IRA customers whose uninvested cash was swept, going back to August 24, 2018.
Card credits: the proposed class covered anyone who made charges on a Chase credit card that were supposed to be credited automatically under Chase's promises but were not; the case was voluntarily dismissed on January 23, 2026.
Goliath: people who invested in Goliath Ventures, a proposed nationwide class; the suit was voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on May 12, 2026.
Fees: the Florida case concerns Venmo cash-advance and foreign transaction fees; whether it is a class action, and who a class would include, is not confirmed.
You cannot sign up for any of these. If a class is certified or a settlement is reached, a court-appointed administrator notifies members by mail or email. Keep your statements in the meantime.
Is There Any Money Right Now?
What each case would be about, if it ever paid: in the cash sweep case, the gap between the interest you got and what the suit says you should have got; the card-credit and Goliath suits were voluntarily dismissed in 2026, so they offer no path to payment. None of that is a promise. For a rough idea of how settlements are usually divided, see the payout calculator; for anything you can file today, see open settlements.

Three Things to Watch For
Chase is a household name with several suits in the news, which makes fake “settlement” messages easy to sell:
“Claim your Chase Bank settlement” links
There is no open Chase Bank settlement. A page asking for your Chase login, card number or one-time passcode to “verify” you is a phishing page, not a claim form.
“Cash sweep interest refund” messages
Nothing has been awarded in the cash sweep case. An email or text offering back interest if you confirm your brokerage account or move money is a scam.
Goliath “fund recovery” offers
Ponzi victims are targeted by recovery outfits that charge an upfront fee to “get your crypto back” through the Chase lawsuit. Being in a proposed class never costs a fee.
Chase Bank Lawsuits — Questions People Actually Ask
Is there a class action lawsuit Chase Bank customers can join?
Not by signing up. The main pending Chase class action lawsuit is the cash sweep case; it has no certified class and no settlement, and the card-credit and Goliath suits were voluntarily dismissed. If one is certified or settles, members are notified directly by an administrator.
Is there a Chase Bank settlement with a claim form right now?
No. As of October 8, 2026 there is no open Chase Bank settlement for consumers, no claim form and no deadline. The best-known past one, the $110 million overdraft settlement from 2012, is closed.
What is the Chase cash sweep lawsuit?
Bodea v. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (No. 1:24-cv-06404, S.D.N.Y.) alleges brokerage and IRA customers were paid 0.01% to 0.03% on swept cash. On February 12, 2026 the judge let the contract claims proceed. A conference is set for October 21, 2026.
Is there a Chase Bank data breach lawsuit?
We found no Chase Bank data breach class action filed in 2026 as of October 8, 2026. Ads from law firms saying they are “investigating” are not lawsuits. If Chase sends you a breach notice, keep it.
I lost money in Goliath Ventures. Does the Chase lawsuit cover me?
It seeks to. Steele v. JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. (No. 4:26-cv-02067, N.D. Cal.) proposed a nationwide class of Goliath victims, but it was voluntarily dismissed without prejudice on May 12, 2026, so there is currently no pending Chase class action for Goliath victims and nothing is payable. Keep your transfer records.
Chase did not apply my card's promised credits. Is that part of a lawsuit?
Not anymore. Sacchi v. JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. (No. 1:25-cv-07632, S.D.N.Y.) proposed a class of cardholders whose promised automatic credits were not applied, but it was ended by a stipulation and order of voluntary dismissal on January 23, 2026. No class settlement was announced.
Is the Chase Zelle lawsuit the same case?
No. Zelle fraud claims are separate litigation. See our Zelle lawsuit page for that case and its status.
What should I do right now?
Nothing needs filing. Keep statements that show swept-cash interest, missing card credits or the challenged fees. Ignore anyone asking for your Chase login to “claim” money.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
