Who Is American Legal Claim Services?
ALCS is a Florida limited liability company that courts and parties hire to send notices, collect claim forms and mail payments in class actions and bankruptcies. It does not sue anyone and does not decide who wins. On its own site it says it has worked “for more than 15 years”; a business-registry summary of Florida state records lists American Legal Claim Services, LLC as incorporated on June 21, 2010 (filing number L10000065827).
Its caseload is mostly consumer-finance and employment matters — the site lists the Fair Credit Reporting Act, TCPA, ERISA, FDCPA, WARN Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, vehicle repossession and wage-and-hour cases — plus bankruptcy distributions such as Think Finance and Health Diagnostic Laboratory. ALCS is a less familiar name than Kroll or Epiq.
Case Details
Case mail uses a separate box per case, all in Jacksonville, FL 32241:

- PO Box 23459 — Landay v. Datavant LLC, successor to IOD Incorporated
Which ALCS Settlement Is My Letter About?
Datavant / IOD and HealthPort medical-records refunds — open. Two companion cases in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (GD-09-012922 and GD-09-012923). People and firms who paid for medical-record copies in Pennsylvania between July 15, 2005 and September 3, 2012 can recover 35% of those fees. Proofs of Claim must be received by November 30, 2026; the exclusion deadline of October 1, 2026 has passed. See our Datavant / IOD report.
Smaller ALCS cases with open deadlines: Hughes v. Smith County, Texas, No. 6:23-cv-344-JDK (E.D. Tex.) — final approval granted, claims by November 2, 2026; Coleman v. SELA Realty Investments (Florida tenants’ security deposits) — claims by November 22, 2026.
Not an ALCS case: the FinWise / American First Finance data breach settlement is run by Epiq, not ALCS; claims there close October 29, 2026 — see our FinWise report.
How to Check an ALCS Notice
(1) Find the case name. A real notice names the lawsuit, the court and the case number, and says a court authorized it — the Navy Federal notice reads “A federal court authorized the notice. This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.”
(2) Check the website. Each case has its own domain (for example nfculoansettlement.com or iodsettlementpa.com). Open the ALCS Active Sites list yourself and see whether the domain is there, rather than clicking a link in an e-mail or text.
(3) Check the return address. Case mail goes to a numbered PO Box in Jacksonville, FL 32241. Another city, or a street address, is a red flag.
(4) Nothing costs money. Filing a claim is free. ALCS-run cases send money by check, account credit or the payment method you choose on the claim form — never after you pay a fee.
(5) A Notice ID usually decides it. In both the Navy Federal and Datavant cases, class members were picked from the defendant’s own records, and the online claim page uses the Notice ID and PIN printed on your notice. If you got no notice but think you qualify, call the number on the case website.
What ALCS Settlements Actually Pay
- Navy Federal: loan cancelled, credit-reporting deletion requested, payments refunded automatically, plus $250 only with a claim form.
- Datavant / IOD and HealthPort: 35% of the copy fees you paid; your amount is printed on your notice or shown after login.
- SELA Realty: $141,793.77 in payments and $669,408.48 in debt relief; claimants get 60% of their security deposit.
- Smith County: a per-day amount for each day of excess detention, paid by mailed check after a claim form.

Three Things to Watch For
ALCS runs cases about fraud victims and money owed, which makes its name useful to imposters:
Calls “from Navy Federal” about the settlement
The Navy Federal case is itself about people impersonating Navy Federal staff, according to the lawsuit. The settlement needs no phone call, no PIN read aloud and no transfer of money — relief is automatic and the $250 form is one page. Hang up and use the number on nfculoansettlement.com.
Look-alike ALCS settlement sites
A site that is not on the ALCS Active Sites list, asks for your full Social Security number or bank login, or charges a “processing fee” is not the settlement. Type the domain from your paper notice yourself.
“We’ll recover your medical-records refund” offers
The Datavant amount is already calculated from IOD’s invoices and printed on your notice. Claiming it yourself is free; a third party that wants a cut or your Notice ID and PIN is adding nothing.
American Legal Claim Services — Questions People Actually Ask
Is American Legal Claim Services legit?
Yes. American legal claim services legit questions usually come from a letter out of Jacksonville, Florida. ALCS is a real Florida LLC that administers class action settlements and bankruptcy claims, with a company address at PO Box 23650, Jacksonville, FL 32241-3650 and phone 904-517-1442. A legitimate company name on a message does not make the message real — check the case on the ALCS Active Sites list.
Why did I get a letter or e-mail from ALCS?
Because you appear in a defendant’s records as a likely class member. As of October 5, 2026, the most common reasons are the Navy Federal unauthorized-loan settlement and the Datavant / IOD and HealthPort medical-records refunds in Pennsylvania. The notice names the case; that case, not ALCS, is what you are deciding about.
What is the ALCS settlement with Navy Federal?
Edey v. Navy Federal Credit Union, No. 2:25-cv-554 in the Eastern District of Virginia. Members whose disputed personal loans from January 1, 2023 to January 31, 2025 were denied get the loan cancelled and payments refunded automatically. An extra $250 needs a claim form postmarked or filed online by November 29, 2026.
What is the Datavant / IOD settlement?
Two Pennsylvania state-court cases over medical-record copy fees paid to IOD or HealthPort (now Datavant) between July 15, 2005 and September 3, 2012. Approved claimants get back 35% of those fees. The Proof of Claim must be received by November 30, 2026.
Is there one “ALCS settlement” I can claim from?
No. An alcs settlement always means a specific case ALCS administers; there is no company-wide fund. You can only claim in a case whose class you belong to, using that case’s own website or form.
Is the FinWise or American First Finance breach letter from ALCS?
No. That data breach settlement is administered by Epiq. Its claim deadline is October 29, 2026. Our FinWise report explains how to check that notice.
How do I contact American Legal Claim Services?
Use the phone number and PO Box printed on your case’s official website, since each case has its own. The general company line is 904-517-1442; give the case name and a call-back number.
Does ALCS charge me anything?
No. Administrators are paid under the settlement, not by class members. A request for a fee, gift card or crypto to release a payment is a scam.
Separate from this case: were you injured in the last 2 years?
Class-action payouts are fixed amounts through an administrator. A personal injury claim is a different case — and often worth far more. Free estimate, no obligation.
