What Happened at Green Clinic
Green Clinic is a multispecialty practice in Ruston, owned by Allegiance Health Management. According to the clinic’s own October 8, 2026 statement, it identified a cybersecurity incident at about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026 and immediately halted its computer and network operations.
The clinic says it was the victim of a ransomware attack associated with a threat actor calling itself “Wall Street,” or an affiliate. The attack encrypted files and systems across the network, including patients’ electronic medical records. The clinic notified the FBI and CISA.
What the clinic has not said is whether patient data was stolen. Its statement says the investigation into information that “may have been accessed or acquired without authorization” is ongoing. Anonymous sources told the Lincoln Parish Journal that the records include medical histories, insurance information and credit card information, and that possibly tens of thousands of patients could be affected. Those are unverified claims. The Journal itself said it could not verify whether records were stolen, deleted or simply inaccessible.
Case details
No lawsuit has been filed that we could find. As of October 17, 2026 we found no federal case naming Green Clinic in our docket database, and no news report of a filed complaint. Plaintiff law firms have posted ads saying they are investigating whether a class action can be filed. That is a recruiting step, not a case.
Louisiana state-court filings are not searchable online in one place, so a state suit could exist without showing up. If a case is filed, we will add the court, case number and filing date here.
Status: Investigation Open, No Lawsuit, No Patient Count
Federal law sets the clock. Under HIPAA, a provider must notify affected patients without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after discovering a breach of unsecured health information. A breach of 500 or more people must also be reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at the same time. Counting from October 2, 2026, that outer limit falls around December 1, 2026, if the clinic finds that health data was affected.
Recovery is slow. The clinic planned to resume broader patient care on October 14, 2026. The Ruston Daily Leader reported on October 15, 2026 that some providers were up and running and others were not. For a different clinic breach at the same early stage, see our Mankato Clinic data breach page.
Who Could Be Affected
Anyone whose records sat in Green Clinic’s systems could be affected: current and former patients, and possibly staff. Green Clinic runs three care sites in Ruston and a fourth in Hodge, which the clinic’s website lists as closed for renovation.
The practical test is a letter. The clinic says it will send the notices required by law if its investigation shows personal or health information was affected. That letter should say which of your details were involved. Keep it and the envelope. There is nothing to sign up for now.

Three Things to Watch For
A ransomware attack with no official answers yet is an easy story for imposters to exploit:
Calls asking you to “re-verify” your records
The clinic really is rebuilding records and may ask for your insurance card or medication list at a visit. A caller who asks for your Social Security number, bank card or a payment over the phone is not part of that. Hang up and call the clinic on a number you already know.
“Your data is on the dark web — pay to remove it”
A group has claimed the attack on a leak site. Nobody can delete your data from a criminal site for a fee. Messages offering that are a second scam stacked on the first.
“Claim your Green Clinic settlement” pages
There is no settlement and no claim form. Lawyer ads asking you to “join” a case are recruiting plaintiffs for a suit that has not been filed. Read anything before you sign it.
Green Clinic Data Breach — Questions People Actually Ask
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this case.
Is there a Green Clinic data breach lawsuit?
Not that we could find as of October 17, 2026. Law firms are advertising that they are investigating a possible class action. No complaint, court or case number has been reported.
What happened at Green Clinic?
On October 2, 2026 the clinic identified a ransomware attack that encrypted its systems, including patients’ electronic medical records. It says the attack is associated with a threat actor calling itself “Wall Street,” and that it notified the FBI and CISA.
Was my information stolen?
The clinic has not said. Its investigation into what may have been accessed or acquired is ongoing. Anonymous sources claimed the records include medical histories, insurance and credit card data, but neither the clinic nor the local paper has confirmed that.
How many patients were affected?
No official number exists yet. A local report cited sources saying possibly tens of thousands of patients. Breaches of 500 or more people must be reported to HHS, and that report will carry the official count.
When will I get a notice letter?
Only if the investigation finds personal or health information was affected. HIPAA requires notice without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after a breach is discovered.
Can you sue a hospital for a data breach?
Patients can file lawsuits against healthcare providers after a breach, and lawyers are already looking at whether one can be filed against Green Clinic. Whether a case succeeds depends on facts not yet known here, starting with whether data was taken.
Can I still be seen at Green Clinic?
The clinic planned to start a new system and resume broader patient care on October 14, 2026, but reported that not all providers were running. Bring your insurance card, ID and medications or a medication list. In an emergency, call 911.
What is worth doing right now?
Freeze your credit at all three bureaus, which is free. Watch your card statements and your insurer’s explanation-of-benefits for care you never received. Keep any letter from the clinic. For other clinic cases, see our Hattiesburg Eye Clinic page.
