The $7.75 Million SeatGeek Settlement Covers 340,202 Nevada Ticket Buyers Who Paid $29.95 Million in Fees — Claim by January 5, 2027, but Our Estimate Is About 17 Cents on the Fee Dollar and Nothing Before the January 12, 2027 Approval Hearing

Carbonell v. SeatGeek, Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-02087-APG-NJK, United States District Court for the District of Nevada. Chief Judge Andrew P. Gordon granted preliminary approval on September 9, 2026, and the administrator, Simpluris, sent the notice email on October 7, 2026. Anyone who bought electronic tickets to events in Nevada on seatgeek.com or the SeatGeek app from November 7, 2020 through May 12, 2025 and was charged fees is in the class. The fund is $7,750,000; SeatGeek says it kept $29,953,864.44 in fees from 340,202 class members. Payments are a pro rata share of the fees SeatGeek kept from you — $15 flat if refunds or chargebacks wiped out your fees. The claim deadline is January 5, 2027; opt-outs and objections are due December 6, 2026; the final approval hearing is January 12, 2027. The official site is SeatGeekTicketFeesSettlement.com.

The $7.75 Million SeatGeek Settlement Covers 340,202 Nevada Ticket Buyers Who Paid $29.95 Million in Fees — Claim by January 5, 2027, but Our Estimate Is About 17 Cents on the Fee Dollar and Nothing Before the January 12, 2027 Approval Hearing — key figures at a glance

The SeatGeek settlement in one paragraph: who is in, and what you have to do

If you bought electronic tickets to any event in Nevada through seatgeek.com or the SeatGeek mobile app between November 7, 2020 and May 12, 2025, and you were charged fees, you are a member of the class in Carbonell v. SeatGeek, Inc. The lawsuit alleges that SeatGeek “did not disclose the total cost of electronic tickets to events in Nevada, inclusive of fees, prior to those tickets being selected for purchase,” in alleged violation of the Nevada Ticket Reseller Law (NRS 598.397 et seq.) and the Nevada Deceptive Trade Practices Act (NRS 598.0915). SeatGeek “denies these allegations and any wrongdoing” and settled without admitting anything. The class is defined by where the event was, not where you live: a Las Vegas show bought from home in Ohio counts.

Being in the class does not get you paid. The official site puts it bluntly: the claim form “is the only way to receive a payment.” The claim deadline is January 5, 2027 — 11:59 p.m. Eastern online, or postmarked by that date on paper. If you do nothing, you get nothing and still give up your right to sue SeatGeek over these fees. As of October 17, 2026 the settlement has preliminary approval only; Chief Judge Andrew P. Gordon decides on final approval at a hearing on January 12, 2027, and no money moves before that.

How much money can I expect from the SeatGeek class action? A share of your own fees

This is not a flat payment and it is not a ticket refund. Under the settlement agreement, each claimant's award equals their “Out-of-Pocket Percentage multiplied by the Available Settlement Fund” — the percentage being the fees SeatGeek kept from you divided by the fees it kept from the whole class. SeatGeek represented that it “retained $29,953,864.44 in Fees from 340,202 Settlement Class Members” on Nevada event tickets in the class period. If refunds or chargebacks brought your net fees to zero or below, you get a fixed $15 instead.

Our arithmetic gives a sense of scale. The whole $7.75 million fund is about 26 cents for every dollar of fees SeatGeek kept. The fund also pays the lawyers — class counsel will ask for no more than one-third, inclusive of costs — plus a $5,000 service award to the named plaintiff, notice and administration and taxes. If the court grants the full one-third, about $5.16 million is left before administration costs, or roughly 17 cents per fee dollar. The average class member paid about $88 in fees, so if every one of the 340,202 people claimed, the average share would be about $15 before administration costs. Someone who paid $40 in fees on one concert would be looking at single digits; a frequent buyer with $1,000 in fees, about $170. These are estimates from the agreement's own numbers, not figures from the administrator.

One question the agreement does not answer in plain terms: whether the shares of the many people who never file are handed to those who do. Its formula divides by the fees of every class member, and the second distribution it spells out is for payments nobody cashes — redistributed pro rata after 180 days, but capped at the fees SeatGeek kept from each claimant (or $15). Anything that cannot be redistributed goes, with court approval, to a nonprofit as cy pres. None of it returns to SeatGeek; the court calls the fund “non-reversionary.”

Does SeatGeek give you your money back? Not through this settlement: it pays a share of fees, not the ticket price. Refunds for a cancelled or postponed event are a matter between you and SeatGeek, not the settlement administrator.

What to do, and the dates that matter

File a claim by January 5, 2027. The online form at SeatGeekTicketFeesSettlement.com starts with a login: “you must login with your LoginID and PIN. If you received a notice of this Settlement, your LoginID and PIN is at the top left-hand side of the email notice.” That email went out on October 7, 2026, to the address SeatGeek has on file; search the inbox and spam folder of the email you used for your SeatGeek account. If you cannot find it, the administrator will give you the Login ID and PIN if you provide your full name and mailing address — at info@SeatGeekNevadaClassAction.com or (866) 675-2690. You can also download the paper form and mail it to SeatGeek Ticket Fee Settlement, c/o Settlement Administrator, PO Box 25191, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958. Paper claims are paid by mailed check; to be paid by Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, you have to file online. The court's schedule also requires a reminder email at least 7 days before the deadline — by December 29, 2026, by our count.

Opt out or object by December 6, 2026. An exclusion request must be mailed, postmarked by that date, to SeatGeek Ticket Fee Settlement, ATTN: Exclusion requests, P.O. Box 25191, Santa Ana, CA 92799, with your name, address, signature, the case name and number, a statement that you bought Nevada event tickets from SeatGeek in the class period and were charged fees, and a statement that you want to be excluded. Opting out keeps your right to sue on your own and ends any payment. Objections go to the court, with copies to class counsel (Bursor & Fisher, White Plains) and SeatGeek's counsel (Cooley LLP); FAQ 17 on the site lists every required element. The FAQ still addresses objections to Judge James C. Mahan, who was presiding when the agreement was signed; the order granting preliminary approval was signed by Chief Judge Gordon, and the case number now carries his initials. The address given is the Lloyd D. George United States Courthouse, 333 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89101.

The fee request. The court ordered class counsel to file the motion for attorneys' fees no later than 25 days after the October 7 notice date — November 1, 2026, by our count — while the site's FAQ says it will be filed and posted “by November 22. 2026.” Either way it will be public before the December 6 objection deadline.

When the money comes. The FAQ says approved claimants “will receive their payment 90 days after” final approval; the agreement says within ninety days after entry of a final judgment. If judgment entered on the hearing date, that points to about April 12, 2027, by our count. The court's deadline chart lists an “Award Issuance Date” within 14 days after final judgment; we treat the 90 days in the agreement and notice as the outer limit. An appeal would push everything back. Checks “expire and become void 180 days after they are issued.”

Is the SeatGeek settlement email real?

Yes, if it matches the official details. The court approved a notice program built on email — “individual direct notice to known Settlement Class Members via email or mail (in the event that two email attempts fail or a known email address is not available),” plus two reminder emails — and Simpluris, Inc. is the court-appointed administrator. The notice itself says: “A court authorized this notice. You are not being sued. This is not a solicitation from a lawyer.”

Two web addresses are legitimate, and that trips people up: the notice and claim form print SeatGeekNevadaClassAction.com, while the site also runs at SeatGeekTicketFeesSettlement.com. On October 17, 2026 both served the same Simpluris page for Carbonell v. SeatGeek, Inc. The phone number is (866) 675-2690, the email info@SeatGeekNevadaClassAction.com, the mailing address P.O. Box 25191, Santa Ana, CA. Filing is free. The paper form asks for name, address, email, phone and the Login ID; payment details for Venmo, PayPal or Zelle are entered only in the online form on the official site. A message that sends you to any other domain, charges a fee to file, or claims to be from SeatGeek itself should be treated as suspect — the administrator asks people not to contact the court or SeatGeek about the settlement. When in doubt, do not click the link: type one of the two addresses yourself and log in there.

Is SeatGeek getting sued? Where this case fits

Mars Carbonell filed this class action in Las Vegas federal court on November 7, 2024; the class period starts four years earlier, on November 7, 2020, and ends on May 12, 2025. The parties signed the settlement agreement on August 10, 2026 after mediation, and the court preliminarily found the deal “fair, reasonable, and adequate,” provisionally certifying the class for settlement only. Claggett & Sykes Law Firm and Bursor & Fisher, P.A. are class counsel. This settlement only releases the Nevada fee claims described in the agreement.

Is there a lawsuit against Ticketmaster regarding fees? Yes, but it is a separate government case that this settlement does not touch: on September 18, 2025, the Federal Trade Commission and seven states sued Live Nation and Ticketmaster in the Central District of California, alleging among other things that Ticketmaster hid mandatory fees “as high as 44% of the cost of the ticket.” Tickets bought on Ticketmaster are not covered here — this class is limited to purchases on seatgeek.com and the SeatGeek app — and the FTC press release does not describe a claims process for consumers.
